The Dirty Affairs of a Vampire and His Horny Stepmom-Chapter 96: Choosing between dying… and dying (1)
I should stay calm, but... how the hell am I supposed to?!
Kimberly is basically half-naked on the bed. She’s only wearing a long white T-shirt that hugs the curves of her full, flawless breasts, with the black lace of her bra barely peeking out underneath. Her bare feet rest on a little stool — a pose that leaves her smooth thighs completely exposed, with matching panties just barely visible under the hem of the shirt.
She’s painting her toenails, completely focused, and thankfully she doesn’t even spare me a glance as I show up in her doorway. If she did, she’d definitely notice the obvious bulge straining against my pants. Stay down, damn it!
«I may be a Monster Slayer, but I’m still a girl,» she says, like it would ever be strange to see her taking care of herself. Trust me, Kimberly, it never even crossed my mind to wonder why you’re painting your nails — my attention is definitely elsewhere.
«Sorry if the outfit is kind of inappropriate for having a guest over,» she continues, still focused on the polish. «But you know, I didn’t want to risk staining my pants, and since I didn’t have time to do it earlier, I’m taking advantage of the time now while I talk to you.»
«I get it. If being pantless in front of me embarrasses you, tell me and I’ll turn around,» I reply — a weak attempt to sound like a gentleman who is definitely not drooling over her, and above all an excuse not to stand there frozen with my eyes glued to every inch of her body. If she told me to turn around, I doubt I’d actually find the strength to do it.
«Why would it bother me? I mean, you’re the famous Jace Lance — at school they talk about nothing but your conquests and all those mothers of your classmates you’ve slept with. With all the gorgeous women you’ve been with, I doubt a simple pair of legs can make you lose your head.»
Sure, if hers were just a normal pair of legs, I wouldn’t feel a thing. But hers are anything but normal. Long, smooth, toned — in other words, perfect. My tongue almost twitches with the urge to lick them from her toes up to her inner thighs, but yeah... better shove that thought away as fast as possible, especially now that I’m going to be a father.
«And besides...» Kimberly continues with a faint smile. «I just told you I’m a girl too, didn’t I? It’s always flattering to be admired by a handsome guy — even if that guy is about to become a father... oh, by the way, who’s the lucky one? A month ago you didn’t even have a girlfriend and now you’re actually expecting a child? It must’ve been love at first sight if things moved that fast.»
Yeah, love at first sight that’s been going on for about six years, but I can’t exactly tell her the woman carrying my child is my stepmother. She’d definitely think even worse of me than she already does.
«Oh, it’s a long story — I’ll tell you someday. For now I’d rather keep it to myself,» I say quickly, cutting her off and changing the subject before something stupid slips out by accident. «So, what is it you wanted to talk to me about? All this urgency and secrecy is making me anxious, to be honest.»
At that request for an explanation, her expression suddenly turns serious.
I’ve got a terrible feeling...
«You’re not the only one with skeletons in the closet, so I’ll skip the part about what I did and where I’ve been this past month and get straight to the point, which is your so-called friend, John Hardley,» she says, her tone even darker than her expression. «It’s obvious he’s not from this world, and yet the higher-ups keep stalling on issuing the official elimination order. From the little information I managed to gather, it looks like that creature’s influence has reached even the top of HESPARC U.S.. As much as it pains me to admit it, that’s the only explanation I’ve been able to find for their constant delays and excuses, despite the mountain of evidence gathered against him. And all of it makes me sick as hell. We Monster Slayers swore to protect this world from anyone who threatens its peace, and yet nobody lifts a finger! We’re dealing with a criminal who’s already incredibly dangerous as he is, and who grows his strength and influence every day, even to the point of corrupting the very people who are supposed to eliminate him. That bastard is damn clever and no demon has ever gone that far! Instead of trying to conquer our world by force like demons, vampires, and other creatures have been trying to do for millennia, he’s exploiting a power even greater than the strongest being on Elyndra — the power of money. John built an ever-expanding economic empire, getting rid of his opponents not by killing them, but by buying them. A filthy strategy that lets him eliminate enemies and gain allies at the same time. And I can’t just stand by while that demon bastard buys our world! That’s why I’ve decided to act on my own and eliminate John Hardley with my own hands, without waiting for authorization to do it.»
I’m afraid to ask what any of this has to do with me... but I’m pretty sure I’m about to find out.
«I promised I’d look the other way as long as you kept a low profile. Well, there’s been a slight change of plans,» she continues.
Fuck, this is getting worse by the second...
«I can’t sneak into his villa alone, which is why I need a Trojan horse to throw the gates wide open for me. And that Trojan horse is you, Jace.»
Her gaze — now sharp and unsettling — lifts from her feet to me for the first time. «I know what I’m asking is extreme, but believe me, you’re in a world of trouble and you have no other way out.»
«So... you’re threatening me?» I reply, forcing myself to look completely unfazed. «A minute ago you told me not to worry, but I guess that was bullshit.»
«It’s not a threat — I’m just warning you and at the same time giving you a way out. Jace, you killed a Monster Slayer, didn’t you?»
I stiffen instantly.
H-How the fuck does she know?!
«From that look on your face, I’d say yes, even though you didn’t need to confirm it — the traces of your blood found on that man’s body already did. Fuck, Jace... you’re a vampire — you should know this kind of thing! You use your blood to fight and you didn’t worry about the traces the strike you used to pierce his forehead would leave? You really are careless, and unfortunately for you, you’re not John Hardley, so the kill order on you has already been issued. And since this area is currently assigned to me... I’m the one tasked with killing you.»
