"My brother trusted you too," she took a cold step forward and if Huojin wasn’t standing in between them, then Beiye would have reached for her neck.

"But he just turned out to be your guinea pig for some brain experimentation and now he is lying in a coma."

Her gaze darkened. "I just make games, Beiye. I didn’t tell your brother to get addicted to it. Addiction to anything is bound to make you sick. You can’t just hold a business responsible for that."

She sneered. "Oh really? If I expose your codes and all the test scripts - thanks to Zexi’s job well done, you won’t be able to show your face anymore, Miss. Xie. The so-called addiction you are blaming on my brother are all your calculated moves. In the name of ’immersion experience’, you were setting up nothing but a glorified mind trap."

Since it was useless talking to her, Mulan turned toward Jia. "Inspector Song, is this really how it will go? Won’t you step in and do something against all these false accusations?"

Jia walked toward her, staring her straight in the eye. "Of course, I will do something, Miss. Xie."

She sighed in relief.

"Which is bringing light to the fact how you tried to kill your own employee, Zhang Luqi."

Mulan stared back at her.

"Remember Zhang Luqi? Who was one of the core members of your Survival Games development team but who was kicked out of it. And why was she kicked out? Because she figured that something was really messed up with the game. She had done her research and figured out how your code through the game could affect a person’s cognitive abilities. She had done her homework but you didn’t like that. Which is why..."

Jia closed the distance with a deadpan gaze. "You didn’t stop at just sacking her out of your team. You went a step ahead to kill her."

Mulan said nothing for a long time. Then she slowly parted her lips.

"I see. You wouldn’t stop Beiye because you have also joined hands with her."
