The Destiny Villainess Wants Me To Work!-Chapter 123: Bloody Tragedy!
There was no hesitation or guilt in his expression. It was as if something that had been suppressed for too long was finally released.
"After I leave..." he murmured to himself, his voice low, almost thoughtful despite the surrounding chaos, "maybe I should bring the King’s Palace back to Longyan."
His gaze remained fixed on the battlefield below.
"Since I’ve decided to develop here... there’s no need to keep them abroad anymore."
Before, he was foolish. He believed he could build another power here from scratch with his own strength.
But the recent setbacks had changed his thinking.
There was no point in holding back anymore.
Another burst of gunfire echoed.
His grip on the rifle tightened slightly.
"I need to plan this thoroughly."
Below him, the last resistance was being crushed.

Morning settled quietly over Jiangnan Prison, the faint gray light of dawn stretching across the compound. At five o’clock sharp, the guards assigned for the next shift began arriving as usual, their vehicles pulling up one after another outside the main gate. It should have been an ordinary start to the day.
Li Qiang stepped out of his car with a cup of cold coffee in hand, taking a slow sip as he glanced toward the entrance. His brow furrowed almost immediately as he saw the gate unattended.
"Why is no one here to open the gate?" he muttered, his tone carrying a trace of irritation. "Are they slacking off again?"
He walked forward and spotted a few colleagues who had just arrived as well.
"Morning, Wu De," he called. "Do you know who was assigned at the gate for the last shift?"
Wu De shook his head. "Morning, Li Qiang. No idea. Why?"
Li Qiang snorted lightly. "If they’re slacking, I’m reporting them."
Wu De gave him a helpless look. "...As expected from you."
Li Qiang smirked faintly. "If I’m not allowed to slack off, why should they?"
Wu De shook his head and waved him along. "Let’s just go. I don’t want to be late."
"Yeah, let’s go."
The group walked toward the entrance together. The gate was already unlocked, which only deepened the odd feeling, but no one spoke about it directly. They stepped inside the prison and immediately, something felt wrong.
The place was too quiet. Not the usual silence, but a hollow, empty stillness.
Wu De slowed his steps slightly, glancing around. "Isn’t it a little too silent today? Where is everyone?"
Li Qiang didn’t answer. His gaze had already sharpened, scanning the surroundings carefully.
A gust of wind passed through the corridor ahead of them.
It carried a smell.
His nose twitched.
’Blood...?’
The change in his expression was instant.
Without another word, he broke into a run.
"Li Qiang—?" Wu De called out, startled, before quickly following along with the others. "What’s wrong?"
"I have a bad feeling," Li Qiang said, his voice low and tense. "I hope I’m wrong."
They sped up, their footsteps echoing unnaturally loud in the empty corridors. The deeper they went, the heavier the air became.
And then they reached the open ground.
Wu De’s steps slowed. Then stopped completely.
His eyes widened.
Dozens of bodies lay scattered across the ground. He recognized them all. They were all his colleagues that he had been working with every day.
Now they were dead...? Never in his wildest dreams had he expected to see such a tragedy on a usual working day.
Some lay face down in dark pools of dried blood. Others stared upward, their expressions frozen in shock. The concrete was stained in patches—some already dark and crusted, others still fresh enough to glisten faintly under the lingering patrol lights.
Bullet marks riddled the surrounding walls and structures.
The entire place looked like a battlefield that had only just gone quiet.
No one spoke for a while. Because of shock and horror.
One of the younger guards staggered back, his face pale. "W-what happened here...?"
Li Qiang stood still for a moment, his jaw tightening, before he turned sharply. "Inside!"
They moved again, slower now, every step weighed down by what they had just seen. Their hearts felt heavy.
The cell blocks were worse.
Most of the cells were empty, with locks broken.
The few that still held prisoners—held corpses instead.
Each one had been executed cleanly, a single bullet hole through the head. There was no sign of struggle or resistance. Just precise and efficient killing.
Wu De swallowed hard. "A jailbreak..."
No one disagreed. Because it was obvious.
Li Qiang’s expression grew colder. "Call the police. Immediately." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
One of the guards hurried to comply, his hands trembling slightly as he fumbled with his device.
They continued moving, tension tightening around them like a noose.
Near the monitoring room, they found two more bodies.
The sight made even Li Qiang pause.
One guard’s neck had been pierced straight through, the wound grotesque, the flesh torn open in a way that spoke of brutal force rather than technique. The other had his eye completely destroyed, the injury driven deep into the skull.
Wu De turned his head away, unable to keep looking. "This... this is too much..."
Li Qiang’s gaze lingered for only a moment before shifting again. "Where’s the chief?" he asked. "Did anyone contact him?"
There was a brief silence.
Then one of the guards hesitated before speaking. "If I remember correctly... Chief said he would stay overnight here."
The words hit everyone at once.
Their eyes widened.
Without another word, Li Qiang turned and rushed forward.
"To the office! Now!"
The others followed immediately.
Their pace quickened, footsteps echoing sharply as they reached the office door.
Li Qiang didn’t hesitate.
He kicked it open.
The door slammed against the wall with a loud bang.
And then—everyone froze.
On the desk, placed neatly at the center, was Zhou Kang’s head.
Severed cleanly from the body.
Blood soaked the entire desk beneath it, thick and dark, slowly dripping off the edges. His eyes remained open, fixed in a frozen expression that seemed to capture the moment of his death.
One of the guards covered his mouth, turning away immediately. "So... cruel..."
Another staggered back, unable to keep looking.
The room fell into a heavy, suffocating silence.
Li Qiang stood at the doorway, his gaze fixed on the desk, his expression unreadable.
But the weight of what had happened—was unmistakable.
Jiangnan City Prison... has fallen... leaving behind a tragic massacre.
