The Demon Lord Is An Angel-Chapter 499: Children
Life settled into a quiet rhythm as Kir and his family adjusted to their new reality.
Once they left the Academy, they settled into a new home at the northern shore nearest the barrier, far from the bustle of the city, but equidistant to both Norneau and the steelworks. Kir initially spent much of his time there, since now that the city could no longer receive iron, the focus would have to shift to making the most of what they had.
He spent a few weeks introducing designs for small, durable items, while Chancellor Lumin worked on slowly disseminating the truth of the apocalypse to the masses... or at least, the version she’d derived from Kir’s truthful explanation, which omitted quite a few details.
Revealing him to the city had caused more than its share of mixed responses. The angels quickly used Kir as an excuse to consolidate a faction around their former embassy - a few dozen angels with a few hundred followers. Char tried to do the same in the part of the city now called "Little Hell," but Kir steadfastly refused to lead, especially when Char suggested he take over the city.
He made the mistake of telling Char he’d consider it only if Lumin asked him, and later the Chancellor summoned him to state that "There’s no way I’m giving up my city to some punk. So you can consider yourself invited when I’m dead."

Five months after returning, at the height of autumn, Kir gave birth.
Instead of a drawn-out, painful affair, the moment his and Amarena’s daughter was ready to be born, he teleported her out of his body. Baby Attika had a purplish complexion and pink hair, almost evenly proportioned in traits between Kir and Amarena.
All of her parents spent the next two months spoiling her rotten.
Three months after that, Kordia complained the entire time while little baby Sylvia was born, telling Kir how easy he’d had it as he held onto a bucket of hot water while Kordia held Lapin’s fuzzy hand in a death grip and Sin panicked, trying to obey all of Cassiel’s orders.
The first thing he thought when he noticed the little silver-haired baby’s eyes was that she seemed very alert and quiet for a baby. But whatever thoughts he had were dashed when the door burst open and Bridget and Darlae appeared, with Bailey Black, a catkin woman, two demons, and two unfamiliar women in tow.
"Oy!" Amarena shouted, crossing the room in a flash and pushing Bailey away from the sight. "No men allowed unless you can give birth."
Kir’s former student shot him a glare before departing.
A moment later, Ferro’s voice cried out from the hall, "Valera!" as he flew into his sister, nearly tackling her to the ground. "You’re alive! I can’t believe... how?!"
"My ship got stolen," Valera rasped, a broad scar black across the fur of her neck.
"I thought you were dead," Ferro clutched his sister in a hug, weeping openly on her shoulder.
"I did die... an old enemy caught me and drowned me. Then that one saved me," she nodded in the direction Bailey disappeared to. "Still got my throat wrecked... but I promised I’d find you, and now here I am." There was pain in her eyes and voice, but happiness too, and Kir found himself smiling until suddenly the bucket of water was taken out of his hands.
"Give me that!" Darlae said, approaching Kordia.
Bridget pinched her son by his pointy ear.
"We spent five years preparing to fight our way up a dungeon to get out of Chainsfree, and then we fought our way down a dungeon to get here! And we find out you’ve knocked up some poor girl?"
"It’s not my baby!" Kir protested, noting the time difference in their perspectives in the back of his mind. "I mean, I’ll be a father to the baby, but I’m not the one-"
Bridget twisted his ear harder. "Rose, Hunter, come help out. You two can go rest. Go find Rainier or something," she said to the demons. The tiger-like one with four arms looked relieved to get away, as did the teenager-like demon, who had blanched the moment the doors opened. They said quick goodbyes before departing.
"Who are these people?" Kir asked as Bridget let his ear go to start taking over for Cassiel, who was both tired and pregnant with either Rainier or Malzkael’s baby, no one was certain.
"What, only you and yours get to have adventures? Other people exist, too, you know," Darlae answered. She hefted the bucket of hot water onto one knee and gestured at the two other women. "Meet Hunter and Rose. Your new moms."
"What?" Kir asked.
"We’re just following your example. Love is strange. Don’t think too hard about it," Bridgit rolled her eyes before snapping at Sin. "You there! Stop fluttering about and wipe her forehead. Use your tails if you have to!"
A loud set of stomps later, Rainier was at the door, with baby Attika floating a stuffed toy above herself as she was cradled in his arms. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"I saw Ferro run off. Is everything okay?" he asked.
"Out!" Amarena appeared and pushed Rainier, adding Ferro and Valera to her armspan as she bustled them away from the room. "We’re still cleaning up in here."
Bridget and Darlae both rounded on Kir, the latter setting the bucket down heavily before the both twisted his ears.
"Whose kid was that?" Darlae barked. "Is it yours?"
"Don’t tell me it doesn’t look like you!" Bridget added.
"Yes, she’s mine! Ow!" Kir yelped as Amarena stepped on his tail.
"She’s ours," the demoness asserted, before lifting the pressure.
Bridget and Darlae let go of Kir a moment after, with Bridget coming down off her tiptoes saying, "Oh well that’s fine, we like Amarena."
"She’s a fine warrior. You’re lucky to have her," Darlae patted Kir on the shoulder.
"What’s the kid’s name? Planning to have any more?" Bridget asked as she unfolded a towel while Lapins touched little Sylvia’s tufty fox ears.
"Her name’s Attika. As far as giving her siblings..." Kir’s hand lowered to his stomach. "Rain and I have one on the way..."
""""What?!"""" Kir’s moms - four of them now - all exclaimed.
