The Demon Emperor was Saint Emperor-Chapter 67: No One Above Him
"Let us down."
Upon arriving at the destination, Catherine couldn’t wait and patted Lynn’s back, urging him to let her and Xiya down.
He had been quite well-behaved along the way, but he certainly benefited a lot, justifying the energy he spent maintaining the Fighting Spirit.
Perhaps for a powerful figure like him, a mid-to-long distance flight was effortless, unlike those barely managing to master the Fighting Spirit Wings technique at the mere Saint Tier.
"Hold on, I need to settle Xiya and Little Yuri first."
As Lynn spoke, he started descending, first releasing Xiya, who was tucked by his side, and then taking Little Yuri out from his arms.
Finally, he put his hands behind his back and gently lowered Catherine’s long, strong legs to the ground slowly.
In fact, Catherine was no fragile doll; they weren’t high enough to need his support. Lynn just took the opportunity to touch her legs deliberately.
Catherine, aware of Lynn’s intentions, was inclined to teach him a lesson for his audacity. But considering the disparity in their powers, Lynn’s significant favor to her, and Xiya’s sideway glance preventing her,
with all factors combined, Catherine begrudgingly accepted it, like being brushed up against by a tiny Flower.
Speaking of the tiny Flower, it had been locked by Little Yuri in Lynn’s embrace, it was hard to tell if it survived... 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Fortunately, the cat was fine, spiritedly climbing onto Lynn’s shoulder as if this were its exclusive seat.
"Get into the city quickly, you seem to have a date with Princess Helena."
In front of Xiya, Catherine intentionally brought up the matter, not to make Lynn uncomfortable but to unsettle Xiya.
That’s for glaring at me earlier; since being with Lynn, Xiya had grown increasingly unruly, favoring Lynn over her dear sister, completely disregarding Catherine.
"Oh, is that Miss Catherine? Such a surprise to meet you here."
Suddenly, a voice full of delight came from the main road to Celestial Destiny City, followed by a luxurious carriage—no, a Dragon Vehicle—pulled by an Earth Dragon, which had half the height of two and a half meters even while lying down.
At the moment, the curtain of the Dragon Vehicle had been lifted; a good-looking man with an extraordinary demeanor popped his head out, greeting Catherine by the roadside.
"Eldest Prince, you’ve returned to the country? Then hurry back to the palace; the sky is getting dark."
Seeing the head protruding from the vehicle, Catherine responded flatly. She didn’t particularly enjoy dealing with this man, but given his status in the Celestial Destiny Empire, she felt obligated to show him some courtesy.
But just a little, not more than that, considering even his father, the Celestial Mandate Emperor, dared not provoke her, his son, though braver, remained no threat.
"Indeed, it’s late. Miss Catherine, why are you just returning from outside the city? Oh, excuse me, Miss Xiya is here too, my apologies."
Catherine casually brushed him off, urging him to return to the palace. Any perceptive individual would sense her rejection, yet the Eldest Prince feigned obliviousness, persistently conversing with Catherine, feigning surprise upon noticing Xiya and apologizing.
"Eldest Prince, I’d advise you not to chat with us; if he gets upset, you might not make it back to the palace."
Catherine didn’t like using Lynn as a shield, but he was standing right there, so why not use him? After all, he had designs on her; shouldn’t she use him to drive away some unimportant pests?
"Oh? May I ask who this is?"
Upon hearing Catherine’s words, the Eldest Prince inside the vehicle froze momentarily, a hint of surprise flickering in his eyes. Yet, considering Catherine’s background, if he succeeded in winning her over, the next Celestial Mandate Emperor would certainly be him. His ambition outweighed his doubts.
"I’d advise you not to pry; I know you have connections, but he has none above him..."
Catherine naturally wouldn’t exploit the situation recklessly; ideally, she would drive the person away without involving Lynn.
"If you’re truly curious, ask your father; it’s understandable not recognizing him since you’ve been away from the Celestial Destiny Empire. Just hurry up; the quicker you leave, the less chance he’ll be displeased."
After saying this, Catherine felt she had been more than reasonable. If the Eldest Prince proved as brainless as his father, he’d only have himself to blame.
"Well... alright, I’ll be off."
What surprised Lynn, who was beside them amusing himself with the cat and watching the drama, was that this chance to show off fled in an instant. A whole Eldest Prince of the Celestial Destiny Empire, right outside his capital, didn’t dare provoke a handsome stranger.
Could it be the Celestial Mandate Emperor’s genes were that domineering? Even cowardice could be inherited?
The Dragon Vehicle pulled by the massive Earth Dragon decisively moved farther away, inside the cabin, the Eldest Prince’s handsome face had already darkened, appearing rather indignant.
But considering Catherine’s reputation for not exaggerating, particularly about a man, he wisely chose to avoid confrontation.
At this moment, another person in the carriage leaned close, grabbing the Eldest Prince by the collar and shouted in anger.
"Why are you so cowardly? With such timidity, do you still aspire to become a Dragon Knight?"
The one rebuking the Eldest Prince was a woman who didn’t seem very young, but under heavy makeup, barely managed to look passable.
Yet her somewhat mediocre appearance wasn’t the point; the critical aspect was the deliberately retained dragon horns on the sides of her forehead, symbols of her identity.
She hailed from the Giant Dragon clan, not those with diluted blood like Flying Dragons or Earth Dragons, nor mediocre Half-Dragons. She was a true pure-blooded Giant Dragon, a formidable race bound to step into the Saint Tier upon reaching adulthood.
"Catherine is no ordinary person; anyone she relies on must be extraordinarily remarkable."
Facing the rebuke from his laboriously acquired knight companion, the Eldest Prince switched his expression, showing a calculating look and attempting to explain.
"Isn’t she just a little prettier? What’s extraordinary about that? I don’t mind you finding women, but you shouldn’t force me to retreat to the cabin, swallowing insults, being brushed off in a few words by a woman."
She had been listening the whole time when he was engaging in small talk. Originally, her knight provoking other women indicated her lack of allure, but unexpectedly, this woman was more audacious, dismissing them with a few casual words.
At that moment, she almost tore through the roof, ready to rush out; it was entirely this lousy man who forcibly restrained her.
"Her uncle is His Majesty the Saint Emperor of Light."
The Eldest Prince explained helplessly.
"..."
"Consider her formidable."
The Dragon Vehicle gradually disappeared into the night as if it never paused by the roadside.
