The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop-Chapter 36 - 24: The Blind-Eyed but Clear-Hearted Marquis
"The maid’s words were not entirely true, obviously problematic. Boss, why didn’t you remind the young marquis?" Kong Hou asked, puzzled.
"Do you think your dragon horn looks good?" Tianmiao didn’t answer Kong Hou’s question but asked her another question instead.
"It looks good." Kong Hou was vain, cheerfully touching the dragon horn on her forehead.
"Yes, I think it looks good too, very cute, and it feels nice to touch." Tianmiao also reached out and touched Kong Hou’s smooth, shiny dragon horn.
Kong Hou became even more delighted.
"Was growing the dragon horn comfortable?" Tianmiao asked again.
"Not comfortable! It was both painful and itchy." Kong Hou shook her head like a rattle.
"That’s it. Good results often come from painful processes." Tianmiao lightly smiled, recalling when she first found Kong Hou. A chubby little dragon girl, bending over by the seaside rummaging for shells. In the sunlight, the little chubby girl’s dragon tail swept across the beach, swaying back and forth, so cute that it melted one’s heart.
"The boss means, he wants the young marquis to see some things for himself." Dong Xiao explained.
"I see!" Kong Hou’s eyes widened, suddenly understanding.
"And, do you really think the young marquis is just naive and sweet?" Tianmiao smiled slightly.
"Isn’t he?" Kong Hou frowned, "His family has protected him too well. Naïve."
"Too much concern leads to confusion. When he calms down, he’ll naturally see the problem. Also, he has his own thoughts." Tianmiao agreed with Kong Hou’s view that the young marquis’s family protected him well, but didn’t agree with the naïve part.
"Then why does he still go?" Kong Hou asked, puzzled.
"Humans, always the most curious creatures. They fear knowing the outcome, yet want to know it more than anyone else." Tianmiao sighed softly, "Even though the result might leave them completely battered..."
"So humans are fools." Kong Hou confidently concluded. Even if the Commandery Princess of Yong’an is injured, Ji Liruo shouldn’t send someone to inform the young marquis. Such abrupt and strange behavior itself has major issues. The young marquis, upon figuring it all out, still wants to go, which could likely lead to bad things awaiting him. This behavior is foolish!
"No, this is also where humans are cute." Tianmiao looked at Kong Hou who was wide-eyed and bewildered, unable to help but smile, "Of course, our little chubby girl is cute too."
"Wow, boss, I’m not chubby anymore." Kong Hou protested, huffing.
...
Xuanling Temple outside the city wasn’t far, and Xiao Anning arrived on horseback in less than half an hour.
When he saw the Commandery Princess of Yong’an, she had just finished a vegetarian meal with Ji Liruo and Liruo’s mother, preparing to drink tea. Seeing Xiao Anning appear, the Commandery Princess of Yong’an was taken aback.
"Mother, are you okay?" Xiao Anning was still a bit out of breath.
"I’m fine." The Commandery Princess of Yong’an looked puzzled.
"Your foot, is it okay?" Xiao Anning asked worriedly.
"Foot? Oh, it’s fine, just twisted it a little, but it’s not serious. It’s not red or swollen, don’t worry." Upon hearing Xiao Anning’s words, the Commandery Princess of Yong’an understood what was going on. Was it the servants at home who told Xiao Anning? No, the servants wouldn’t make such an arbitrary decision. Besides, her foot indeed wasn’t a big issue.
While the Commandery Princess of Yong’an was still puzzled, a voice interjected: "Is this the young marquis? Indeed, he is handsome and talented both in literature and martial arts." The tone was clearly filled with praise and flattery.
