The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop-Chapter 119 - 62: Heaven’s Chosen Ones
In the northern plains of the Endless Land, there is a place called Flame Mountain. This area is perennially dry and scorching. The further into the mountain one goes, the hotter the ground becomes. Even halfway up, the seemingly rock-hard stones are actually soft; you can poke a stick into them easily.
This peculiar condition results in there being no animals in the mountain year-round, nor would anyone bore themselves by climbing it. The only covering on the mountain is a fiery red plant known as the Flame Tree.
At the mountain’s summit, one can clearly see the lava flowing. Strangely, there is a giant white skeleton lying across the entire mountain top, seemingly that of a snake, unfazed by the smoldering lava. As night falls, Flame Mountain transforms into a pale red, and the flowing lava gradually surges to form solidity. By midnight, a massive pale red lava gate appears, marking the entrance of a path for the Demon Clan to the human world.
When the Demon Clan surged in, an intense battle ensued. Later, the sect-founding ancestor of Canglang Sect, together with the Sect Leaders of various sects, exerted all their strength to seal this gate, preventing the Demon Clan’s invasion.
If the seal were to be broken, the Demon Clan’s gate would open once more, allowing innumerable demons and demonic beasts to flood into the human world, causing a calamity.
When Ye Chenfeng and his group arrived, it was exactly noon, the hottest time of the day at Flame Mountain. Numerous disciples from various sects flew on their swords and stopped mid-air.
The Sect Master Pei said loudly, "Everyone, spread out to investigate first. If you discover anything, signal immediately."
Among those who came to investigate, she held the highest status, so naturally everyone looked to her as their leader.
Jie Wenzhan was just about to leave with his fellow disciples when the Sect Master Pei called him, "Jie Wenzhan, you come with me."
Upon hearing this, everyone looked at them in surprise, but without further comment, they all turned and flew off on their swords to investigate.
Jie Wenzhan felt somewhat awkward. Once everyone left, Sect Master Pei flew in front of him, smiled charmingly, and said, "What’s wrong, unwilling?"
"Not really," Jie Wenzhan replied with a sheepish smile, not knowing what else to say.
"Then let’s go," Sect Master Pei seemed oblivious to Jie Wenzhan’s awkwardness, stepping forward on her sword for a while before turning her head to call him, "Hurry up and follow."
Jie Wenzhan uttered an oh and followed.
The two flew on their swords towards the mountain top when Sect Master Pei suddenly said to Jie Wenzhan, "Jie Wenzhan."
"Huh?" Jie Wenzhan turned his head to look at Sect Master Pei in confusion.
"I have feelings for you," Sect Master Pei confessed, surprisingly showing a trace of shyness on her face.
Jie Wenzhan was utterly dumbfounded. What was happening?
"Recently, I have been paying close attention to you. I inquired about your past, from when you first entered Canglang Sect until now. You are truly outstanding." Sect Master Pei’s eyes were filled with affection as she looked at Jie Wenzhan.
Jie Wenzhan almost fell off his sword; he struggled hard to steady himself, then hurriedly said, "Thank you, Sect Master, for your favor. But I am aware of my low aptitude and unworthy appearance, and I do not deserve the Sect Master’s favor. I am also wholeheartedly devoted to the path and hope that the Sect Master will not waste any affection on me."
To refuse this enormous peach blossom, Jie Wenzhan put in all his effort!
However, Sect Master Pei seemed not to grasp this; she seemed to only hear the part about not deserving the Sect Master.
"How could that be? With someone as exceptional as you, given time, your accomplishments will undoubtedly surpass mine. How can you say you don’t deserve me?" Sect Master Pei lightly furrowed her brows, showing an expression that wouldn’t allow him to belittle himself.
