The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress-Chapter 943 - 921: Top Student of the 1980s 49
When Yu Shen arrived at the Provincial City, he didn’t even inform Zhang Heping, he just came directly.
Zhang Heping didn’t expect Yu Shen to arrive so quickly. Seeing him, he hurried to welcome him and even mentioned wanting to treat him to a meal or something.
Yu Shen wasn’t concerned about that at all.
He neither ate nor drank, all he wanted was to see the electric scooter.
Zhang Heping then took him to see it. Yu Shen personally took a ride and discussed many issues with Anning, then asked Anning to disassemble the scooter to check the battery inside.
After confirming this matter, Yu Shen did not stay overnight at the Zhang Family. He bought a train ticket back to the Capital that very night.
Within a couple of days, people were sent from above to the Zhang Family to take Anning to the Capital.
The people sent not only wanted to take the electric scooter but also wanted Anning to bring all the technical documentation.
Anning blinked and curiously examined the people who came to pick her up.
Though they were in civilian clothes, Anning knew that they were probably special forces soldiers.
She sat on the sofa without moving, shaking her head to indicate she wouldn’t go to the Capital.
"I don’t want to go."
"Why?" Knowing Anning was a little kid, they sent a gentle-looking female comrade. She looked at Anning and asked, "Don’t be afraid. We will ensure your safety, and you’ll be back soon."
Anning still shook her head, "I won’t go. I don’t want to go to the Capital alone. I don’t want to leave my parents. I want to stay with them."
This girl was so stubborn and wouldn’t go.
There was no other way, so they took Zhang Heping and his wife along.
To ensure the safe delivery of the materials, Anning received special treatment on her trip to the Capital.
The train compartment she was in only had them and the staff who came to pick them up, plus the electric scooter.
Upon reaching the Capital, a car came directly to pick them up, taking Anning’s family to a place even she didn’t know.
Then Anning was brought to a laboratory.
A lot of people had already gathered there.
When they saw Anning arrive, they all gathered around at once, directly discussing lithium batteries with her, asking questions until Anning’s ears buzzed.
"Hey, can you come one by one?"
Anning had no choice but to protest, "If everyone asks, who should I answer first? Can you come one by one and give me a break?"
Then, the researchers remembered Anning was still a child.
After a while, some staff brought Anning water and food.
Anning ate slowly, and after finishing, she started answering questions one by one.
A researcher asked Anning, "Can this lithium battery be used for civilian purposes? How much does it cost to manufacture?"
Anning thought for a moment, "The cost is quite high. I made it by hand, and the materials inside are expensive. If mass-produced and used for civilian purposes, it might be very challenging."
The researcher was quite disappointed.
Anning then added, "But if you want to promote electric scooters for civilian use, you can use lead-acid batteries. They are cheaper to produce, but larger and with a shorter lifespan than lithium batteries."
She explained about lead-acid batteries again, captivating the researchers.
After that, Anning stayed in the laboratory for several days, working with the researchers on lithium and lead-acid batteries.
Anning said, "These can be used for electric bicycles or electric tricycles and cars. They have a lot of potential uses."
When Anning came out of the lab, the researchers had already built a small electric car.
Anning’s trip to the Capital was worthwhile; she not only visited the research lab but was also received by some high-ranking officials, and of course, she received a handsome bonus, reaping quite the rewards.
Several heads of research from the Capital also met with Anning, trying to persuade her to enter university directly. In their eagerness to recruit Anning, they almost quarreled.
Eventually, Anning was unwilling to stay in the Capital, saying she had to return to school, and she couldn’t bear to leave her parents, so the researchers reluctantly sent her off from the lab.
Anning’s visit to the Capital couldn’t end immediately, and since she was here, she might as well stay a few days to enjoy herself.
After leaving the research lab, she went to Jing University to find Xiao Yuan, who then took her to meet He Erniu.
The three of them gathered for a meal. Afterward, Xiao Yuan went back to class, and He Erniu took Anning out for fun.
Though the two sisters had only met once before, maintaining their relationship through letters for years, it should have been quite distant.
But blood ties are interesting sometimes.
After meeting He Erniu, Anning felt quite close, without any sense of unfamiliarity.
He Erniu took Anning around the alleys of the Capital, treated her to roast duck, and only brought her back when it was dark.
When she arrived, Zhang Heping and Secretary An talked with her for quite a while.
Then the next day, Xiao Yuan came to take Anning out to play.
The pair had fun for several days before Anning and Zhang Heping’s couple set off on their return journey.
Back at the Provincial City, it was snowing, extremely cold.
The family, getting off the train, took a taxi home, feeling the chill all along the way.
Once inside the house, they warmed up for quite a while before feeling comfortable.
Zhang Heping took off his outer coat to make dinner, while Secretary An talked with Anning.
Secretary An held Anning’s hand, "I know you couldn’t bear to leave us, but this was such a great opportunity; you could enter university without taking the college entrance exam. Ningning, you learn fast; you’ve read almost all the books available. To learn more, you should attend a good university and learn from those professors. You’re wasting your time right now."
Secretary An was really worried.
She feared delaying Anning.
Anning just smiled, "I don’t think so. Yes, I can go to university now, but Mom, how old am I? I’m still young, so what’s the rush? My life is long; I have time to learn whatever I want in the future. Right now, I just want to enjoy the happy times with you and Dad. I don’t want to let my youth go to waste. Mom, everything has its time. I’m still young; you can’t let me bear such a heavy burden now."
Upon hearing this, Secretary An was at a loss for words.
She was quite moved by Anning’s sincerity.
Secretary An hugged Anning, "Alright, Mom listens to you. You want to play, then play; we won’t force you."
