Chapter 373: Chapter 370: The Storm

A dark cloud appeared in the sky without warning, the previously bright sky instantly turned oppressive, and slowly the wind picked up, rumbling thunder echoed in the sky, accompanied by lightning, as the wind blew from the sea carrying its unique salty scent!

Just a moment ago, Elliana Lyle and Joy Lyle were hiding in a thicket of bushes, watching helplessly as a group of people pursuing them passed by, their numbers were many, trampling the forest grass into disarray.

Finally, when the pursuers left the forest, Elliana could finally catch her breath, Joy looked at her somewhat anxious expression and said, "Elliana, don’t worry, they probably didn’t notice us and have already gone far, don’t be afraid, I’m here."

"Joy, I’m not afraid, I’m just a bit nervous, that person walked right past my face earlier, it was really thrilling just now..."

Suddenly a blast of sea wind came, along with raindrops, she then noticed the change in weather, "Joy! It’s about to rain! What should we do?"

Joy glanced up, then pulled her to the tree beside them, and in the midst of their conversation, the massive raindrops mixed with sea wind fell down.

Within seconds, their clothes were soaked. Given the naturally warm weather here, they were dressed lightly. Though the tree was large, the wind carrying raindrops made it impossible to shelter from the rain behind it!

She couldn’t help but shiver! It was still morning, yet this torrential rain was coming down, knowing this beforehand they should have worn more clothes, "Joy! Let’s find somewhere to shelter from the rain! It’s so heavy! I’m a bit cold!"

Joy pulled her into an embrace: "Yes! Let’s go to the forest behind and find a big tree! But since this is a tropical place, torrential rain usually doesn’t last long."

"Okay!"

The two supported each other as they returned to the forest they initially left from! The rain grew heavier, and the wind stronger; Joy felt worry sinking in her heart! It seemed not a normal storm, but a fierce storm! If this continued, even if they weren’t discovered, as long as the torrential rain reached a certain point, surviving in the wilderness would be even more dangerous!

Struggling in the forest, the storm blew the tree branches like swinging sticks, the two avoided them while also being wary of potentially falling trees, as the wind was too strong, their original plan was now impossible!

Staying in the forest during such a storm was tantamount to seeking death! They had no choice but to head toward the road, fighting their way through the forest, both of them suffering various scratches.

Hair and clothes were soaked through, sticking to their skin as the temperature dropped further!

Elliana had begun to shiver all over, the two could only cling to each other for warmth, using each other’s body heat, large raindrops painfully striking their faces.

Finally, they saw the road ahead, and not far from the road was a small house, likely a shelter for maintaining road and electrical facilities!

Enduring the rain, they hurried over, entered the house, shut the door; outside, the wind howled fiercely, and rain splattered on the trees with crackling sounds!

"Elliana, take off your clothes and wring them out; wearing them wet like this will make you sick." Joy was taking off her clothes while instructing the shivering Elliana leaning against the wall to do the same!

Looking at Joy, who was down to her underwear, she also took off the outer layers of her clothes.

Squeezing with her hands, the water formed a stream on the ground that seeped out through the door crack.

"Elliana, come help me."

Joy’s jubilant voice came from behind; she placed her wet clothes on the windowsill and went to the back, where she discovered there was another door, Joy’s voice constantly coming from inside!

Entering, Elliana understood why Joy was delighted; inside was a pile of dry firewood. Although rain had already seeped through near the window, there was usable wood further from it, and Joy was moving dry wood toward their location.

She quickly joined to help! They worked for a while until they finally got a bonfire going in the stormy place. At this point, they used sticks to hold their clothes over the fire!

The warmth from the fire enveloped them, they encircled the bonfire, listening to the wind and rain outside, mixed with the sound of trees being blown over. Their clothes weren’t fully dry yet!

"Joy! How long will this storm last?" Here, their clothes were almost dry, but her stomach began to growl! Listening to the unyielding storm outside, her stomach rumbled hungrily.
