The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master-Chapter 96: Truly Capable
Vera then looked at Cara Preston and said, "You’ve been coming home really late recently, and your grades have dropped so much. You should start coming home earlier to study. If there’s anything you don’t understand, I can even tutor you."
The word "tutor" pierced Cara Preston’s heart like a thorn. She was instantly overcome with a whirlwind of emotions. She had always felt superior to Vera, confident that her grades were better and that she was smarter.
But this time, her grades had been completely crushed by Vera. Her sense of superiority vanished without a trace, leaving only a sharp sense of humiliation.
Elise Langdon chimed in coldly from the side, "Cara just had an off day. Her grades are way better than yours! And you have the nerve to offer to tutor her? Have you no shame!"
Shirley Forrest calmly remarked, "So, the person who ranked first in class can’t tutor the one who ranked twentieth? I wonder who the shameless one really is."
Elise Langdon didn’t dare argue with Shirley Forrest, so she turned on Vera instead. "First in the class? Who knows how you even got that rank. If you’re so capable, then get first place every single time!"
"Thank you for the motivation, Langdon," Vera said in a flat tone. "I’ll do my best to place first every time."
’She could never really figure out Elise Langdon’s logic. Before she’d gotten that zero on her exam, Elise had always been the one in last place.’
’Theoretically, Elise should have been happy when Vera ranked last in the entire school. But in reality, Elise just seemed to despise her for one reason or another.’
’The only explanation she could come up with was that Cara’s brainwashing of Elise had been a little too successful.’
Elise Langdon nearly choked on her words. After a long moment, she said defiantly, "You’d better actually have the skills to back that up!"
The class bell rang, and everyone returned to their seats.
Without exception, every single teacher praised Vera. To Cara Preston, the words were incredibly grating.
But what was truly grating wasn’t their praise for Vera—it was their criticism of Cara.
She had actually failed her worst subject, chemistry, scoring only fifty-seven points.
The chemistry teacher had a fiery temper and immediately ripped into Cara Preston in front of the whole class.
By the time school let out that afternoon, Cara Preston was feeling thoroughly disgraced.
As they were leaving school, Elise Langdon said to Cara Preston, "I’m sure Vera cheated on this exam. Nine times out of ten, she got her hands on the test somewhere and practiced it beforehand. Otherwise, there’s no way she could’ve scored that high."
"That can’t be right," Cara Preston said softly. "My sister isn’t that kind of person!"
"Don’t let her fool you," Elise Langdon said sullenly. "You’re always looking out for her, but she doesn’t appreciate it at all. When you went to talk to her this morning, her words were full of barbs. It’s obvious she has bad intentions."
Cara Preston sighed softly. "Even if she did cheat, the results are already out. There’s nothing we can do to her now."
Elise Langdon scoffed. "Who says? Doesn’t the school have a principal’s mailbox? Let’s go write a letter and report her right now!"
Cara Preston looked hesitant. Elise grew impatient. "If you keep being so soft-hearted, who knows how she’ll bully you next!" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Only then did Cara Preston reluctantly agree. "Alright, then."
