"Mr. Nathan, I’m afraid I don’t have that kind of potential," Vera Xavier said with a smile. "But with Nathaniel not at home right now, you need to take extra good care of yourself."

Master Nathan said with a grin, "I usually stick to a vegetarian diet, but it’s rare to be this happy. Just let me eat to my heart’s content for once. In any case, I’m the guest today. If you want to boss me around, wait until I’m back at my own home."

As he spoke, he picked up a piece of duck and popped it into his mouth. Hearing her call out Nathaniel’s name made him happy on his grandson’s behalf.

Vera Xavier froze for a second. Zachary Preston smiled and said, "Alright, Vera, let Mr. Nathan eat what he wants this time. We can worry about it later."

Vera Xavier looked at Master Nathan and said, "Mr. Nathan, then we have a deal. Just this once, and it won’t happen again!"

"Fine!" Master Nathan said with a laugh. "But from now on, you’re not allowed to make such delicious food and awaken the glutton in me."

Vera Xavier burst out laughing at his words.

Vera Xavier was taken aback and just said, "Huh?" Master Nathan shot her a look. "What do you mean, ’huh’? Food is the staff of life! So what we eat is extremely important! Also, out of all the dishes I’m allowed to eat, which ones are you best at? I’ll have Lana Cheney get everything ready!"

Vera Xavier said helplessly, "Mr. Nathan, I’m coming to your house to be a companion, not a private chef!"

"Eh, it’s all more or less the same!" Master Nathan said with a laugh. "Since you’ll be there to keep me company anyway, it would be great if you could look after my meals, too."

"Should I maybe confirm this with Nathaniel?" Vera Xavier asked.

"No need! What’s there to confirm with that kid? The matter’s settled!" Master Nathan immediately struck a pose that said, ’If you mention him again, I’m getting mad at you.’

Vera Xavier couldn’t help but laugh. "I get it now. Turns out Mr. Nathan is afraid of Nathaniel."

"No way!" Master Nathan said with a very serious expression. "How could I possibly be afraid of him! I’m helping him. Helping him get a good look at the granddaughter-in-law he picked out for himself to see if she’s really as great as he claims!"

Vera Xavier was speechless.

Master Nathan looked at her and said, "So, you’d better be on your best behavior. If you don’t perform well, I might not approve of your marriage!"

Vera Xavier didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at such a threat. ’Rumor has it that Master Nathan was a decisive and formidable man of great deeds in his youth. This current persona doesn’t seem to fit him at all!’
