The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master-Chapter 110: One More Kiss
Vera Xavier was still smirking when Nathaniel Nathan said with a perfectly straight face, "I think you could kiss me again, and while you’re at it, test out my driving skills."
Vera Xavier: "..."
’Hey, Young Master Nathan, saying things like that with such an icy expression is just asking for trouble, you know!’
She took a deep breath and said, "This morning, you kissed me once, and I kissed you once. We’re even! The entire quota has been used up, so I can’t kiss you again."
Nathaniel Nathan frowned. "Quota?"
Vera Xavier grinned. "Yep. The number of things a person can do in a lifetime is finite. Every kiss means one less kiss you have left, so we have to use them sparingly."
Nathaniel Nathan: "..."
Vera Xavier chuckled. "Okay, back to business. I have a suggestion. Could you try to speak in a slightly gentler tone from now on? Do you have any idea how intimidating you look when you speak with that stern face and cold voice?"
Nathaniel Nathan’s face stiffened. He subconsciously started to speak, but then he remembered what she had just said and was suddenly at a loss for words. The expression on his face was a picture of conflict.
Seeing his expression, Vera Xavier couldn’t help but burst out laughing. "We’re at the school. You can stop the car."
Nathaniel Nathan hit the brakes. Vera Xavier had already pulled the car door open, but she found his current expression utterly adorable. She spun around and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. "Silly, I was just teasing you!"
With that, she quickly hopped out, shut the car door, waved at him, and then swaggered toward the school gate.
But just as she reached the gate, she realized something—she had left her backpack in Nathaniel Nathan’s car!
As she turned to go back and get it, she saw Nathaniel Nathan walking over, wearing her pink backpack.
A tall man with such a powerful aura carrying a pink backpack was a rather dissonant sight, and he immediately drew the gazes of everyone nearby.
He walked up to her, handed her the backpack, and said in a rare, softened tone, "I’ll try my best to do what you just said."
His voice was already incredibly pleasant, but now that he spoke in a softer tone, it was enough to make one’s knees go weak.
Vera Xavier felt as if all the bones in her body had turned to jelly.
But then Nathaniel Nathan leaned in close to her ear and said, "You owe me a kiss for that one. I’ll collect it next time we meet."
Vera Xavier felt a jolt run through her entire body, but he just turned and walked away as if nothing had happened.
She only snapped back to her senses after he was some distance away. She reached up and gently patted her still-flushed cheeks. ’Oh my god, good thing it’s still early and there aren’t many students at the gate. Otherwise, that would have been so embarrassing!’
Because the tests had been handed back and the scores announced yesterday, combined with her previous academic record, Vera Xavier had shot to fame overnight. During the break, even on the way to the restroom, she could hear people pointing at her and saying, "That’s Vera Xavier!"
Vera Xavier simply raised an eyebrow. She had fully expected the pointing and whispering, so she remained completely calm.
The way her classmates looked at her had also changed. Some were suspicious, others were baffled, none of them could understand how she had gone from dead last in the entire grade to third place overall.
Meanwhile, Cara Preston, who had a dark look on her face all morning because Nathaniel Nathan had kicked her out of the car, felt even more resentful when she saw the way the other students were looking at Vera Xavier.
