The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master-Chapter 106: So Shameless
In her past life, Vera Xavier had only been able to build her businesses and operations because of his help.
Now, in this life, with the added advantage of her X-ray vision, rebuilding what she had in her past life would be even easier.
’I will create the best medicines, prevent traditional herbal formulas from becoming a hallmark export of The Island Nation, and let the entire world know that traditional medicine belongs to Celestia!’
Her goal was immense and incredibly difficult, but she wanted to try.
But first, she had to take the college entrance exam, get into Veridia University, and take the most important step of her life.
The required score for admission to Veridia University was terrifyingly high. With no increase in student enrollment yet, she would have to achieve the absolute best results to be accepted.
Her current grades didn’t give her full confidence she could get into Veridia University, so she still had to work harder.
Just as Vera Xavier had predicted, Cara Preston went to Rona Langdon’s room. Rona and Zachary Preston had been arguing incessantly lately, so they were sleeping in separate rooms.
When Cara arrived, Rona Langdon was the only one in the room.
The moment Rona Langdon saw her come in, her face fell. She raised her hand and slapped her. "This is all your fault! I’ve been completely humiliated because of you! Cara Preston, you’re so pathetic, letting yourself be overshadowed by Vera Xavier!"
Cara Preston clutched her face. "Mom, I was wrong. I’ll be sure to study hard from now on!" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"You useless thing..." Rona Langdon berated her for half an hour before her anger finally subsided a little. "If anything like this happens again," she said at last, "I won’t let you off so easily!"
Cara Preston lowered her head and quietly agreed, but her downcast eyes concealed a deep-seated hatred. She had had enough of this life. Yet, she was even less willing to return to her birth parents in the countryside, so all she could do was endure.
Lately, she had been constantly thinking of ways to leave the Preston Family as soon as possible: either by getting into a university far away or by getting married. To her, marrying a good man seemed like the best solution, and Nathaniel Nathan was the perfect man she had set her sights on.
In terms of character, education, ability, and family background, he was absolutely top-tier.
’I have to marry him!’
Seeing her submissive act, Rona Langdon finally asked, "Why did you come looking for me in the middle of the night?"
"I want you to help me, Mom. Make me the one the Nathan Family repays their debt of gratitude to." Cara Preston had thought it through. Nathaniel Nathan was cold and aloof, rarely getting close to anyone. She had tried countless ways to approach him before, all without success. Now that Vera Xavier had saved Master Nathan, it presented a rare opening—the best opportunity she might ever get.
Rona Langdon’s temper flared the moment she heard this. "You want to become the Nathan Family’s granddaughter-in-law? In your dreams! Cara Preston, you’d better have some shame! A girl who hasn’t even graduated high school, constantly talking about marriage. Have you no decency?"
Rona had been grooming Cara Preston to be her own daughter-in-law. Her plan was always to have Cara marry her son after graduation. That way, she would save on the bride price, and since she was already familiar with Cara’s personality, the girl would be easy to control.
In truth, Cara Preston was well aware of Rona Langdon’s machinations. That was precisely why, between the options of getting into a faraway university and getting married, she preferred marriage. She refused to spend the rest of her life under Rona Langdon’s thumb.
But she had dared to come to Rona Langdon because she was confident she could persuade her. "Mom, I understand what you’re thinking," she said. "But have you considered how much our family would benefit if I were to marry Nathaniel Nathan?"
