The CEO's Substitute Ex-Wife-Chapter 502: why pursuing someone else?
Carter cursed and contacted the Philippine police, ordering a complete blockade of all transportation routes to and from Manila, prohibiting any unauthorized aircraft or helicopters from entering the city. Waterways, train stations, docks, and the airport were all sealed off in search of a young woman and a man carrying a half-mask.
Interpol deployed even more personnel, investigating all foreign residents and conducting a thorough search of all hotels, prioritizing the best hotels in Manila. Carter knew Wushuang’s style well; she disliked dark, damp places, and whenever she arrived in a new place, if there was no accommodation available, she would always choose the most comfortable hotel—a consistent practice of hers; she wouldn’t compromise her comfort.
No sooner had Wushuang and Guimian left than Interpol arrived. Their passports were fake, so they couldn’t find anything. The two circled the train station, then led the police on a tour of Manila, before disappearing without a trace.
Wushuang and Guimian returned to Rome and met someone she shouldn’t have seen there:
Long Chengtian.
He was waiting for her at her house, completely unconcerned. Mo Yao and Mo Chen had actually let him roam freely within the castle, which Wu Shuang found unbelievable. Given the brothers’ personalities, it was a big problem for Long Chengtian to even enter the castle.
"Why are you here?" Wu Shuang asked bluntly. Mo Yao and Mo Chen remained silent, and no one greeted them. Ghost Face had officially met with Mo Yao and Mo Chen; they were going to discuss Ghost Face’s position in the mafia, but there was no rush.
"I’ve been waiting for you here for five days," Long Chengtian said through gritted teeth, his handsome face contorted with anger, as if Wu Shuang’s late return was an unforgivable crime.
Wu Shuang smiled alluringly and looked at Mo Chen. "Why has he been here for five days?"
"I think he’s taken a liking to our garden," Mo Chen said humorously. Long Chengtian’s sharp gaze fell on Wu Shuang, his fierce expression as if he wanted to devour her. Wu Shuang was already familiar with Long Chengtian’s temper and wasn’t surprised; he was truly fiery.
"Didn’t I remember telling you to wait for me?" Wushuang said. "You really have your eye on my backyard?"
Long Chengtian cursed, roughly pulling Wushuang aside. "I have something to say to you, let’s talk privately!"
The last three words were practically spat out by Long Chengtian through clenched teeth. He glared fiercely at the Ghost Face beside him. The Ghost Face wore a half-mask, obscuring his expression, but it was clearly an icy face. When fire meets ice, usually the fire goes out or the ice melts, but this ice flower showed no signs of melting, and the fire showed no signs of going out. Long Chengtian’s anger posed no threat to the Ghost Face.
Wushuang smiled to herself, lost in thought, and asked Mo Yao and Mo Chen in confusion, "Are abandoned women particularly attractive?"
Or are men just inherently servile?
She had pursued Long Chengtian for a long time. She didn’t really dislike him. She had a bit of a father complex, but her early love for Kaka was irreplaceable. When she met Long Chengtian, she never thought about spending her life with him; she just enjoyed teasing him. She liked and found his boisterous and violent behavior amusing. She liked him a little, but it wasn’t love.
Of course, there weren’t many people in the world she could like.
She had pursued him for so long, but he had never given her a kind look. She had tried everything, but all she got was ridicule because a life was between them.
Long Chengtian’s attitude didn’t bother her. No one in the world could hurt her except Kaka, so she kept teasing him, hoping he would forget about his girlfriend. But Long Chengtian never gave her a good response.
Later, she truly developed a desire to conquer him. She didn’t believe she couldn’t control Long Chengtian, and to be with Kaka more legitimately, she had Kaka act out a scene, but the effect was obviously poor.
Until this time, when she was injured in London.
When she woke up injured and he didn’t come to see her, Wushuang concluded that Long Chengtian truly had no feelings for her. Actually, she didn’t care much for him either; she just knew she didn’t want to continue playing this game.
Ten years of unrequited love had consumed her entire life’s emotions, and she knew she couldn’t give her whole heart to anyone else—it wouldn’t be fair to others. It was better to live a carefree life alone.
Unexpectedly, Long Chengtian came to London, and even more unexpectedly, after she drove him away, he came to Rome and openly waited for her at her house.
Wushuang sneered. Instead of chasing her, he came chasing her?
If she had known this would happen, she wouldn’t have bothered chasing him in the first place. Keeping him hanging on would have been so much better, saving her the trouble of chasing him for so long—that required a lot of brainpower. Now, Wushuang understood one thing: liking someone, pursuing someone, you can’t rely on your brain alone; you need your heart and sincerity.
Perhaps she had always used her brain towards Long Chengtian, lacking heart and sincerity, which was why she had never been able to win him over.
Actually, it’s fortunate he couldn’t catch up. They were separated by a life, something he could never forget. If he had, she would have had a lot of trouble.
Mo Chen looked miserable. "Everyone here is a man except you. Don’t generalize. Second Uncle is a man too."
"My daddy is the elite of the lowly." He’s happy whenever his mommy mistreats him; the more she mistreats him, the happier he is. A little sunshine from his mommy makes him beam...
Everyone, "..."
Far away on a small island, Mo Jue sneezed. Ye Wei glanced at him sideways. Wouldn’t this little sea breeze give him a cold? Mo Jue calmly replied, "My daughter missed me." Ye Wei’s lips twitched.
Long Chengtian’s gaze grew increasingly irritable. Wushuang completely ignored him. He was about to erupt in anger when Mo Yao’s icy gaze swept over him. "Ghost Face, let’s talk in the study. Mo Chen, come too."
Ghost Face also felt it necessary to give them some space, and decisively followed Mo Yao upstairs. Mo Chen gestured to Wushuang, indicating she should get her revenge, and also followed Mo Yao and Ghost Face upstairs.
Wushuang got up to get drinks from the refrigerator, and casually grabbed a can of beer for Long Chengtian, tossing it to him. She sat down briskly, pulled out the can, and drank her beverage. Long Chengtian glared at her angrily. Wushuang smiled and asked, "What do you want?"
"To Russia," Long Chengtian said in a deep voice, trying hard to suppress his temper.
Wu Shuang raised an eyebrow. "I’m not planning on going to Eastern Europe. I’ve been dealing with Mafia matters lately, I don’t have time."
"Shit, you think you can spend a whole year in Eastern Europe if you don’t have time?"
"I used to be interested in you, but now I’m not, of course I don’t have time." Wu Shuang said matter-of-factly. She always held the reins. Before, when she pursued him, it was her choice.
Now she suddenly realized that being pursued felt pretty good too, why bother pursuing someone else?
