The CEO's Substitute Ex-Wife-Chapter 494: the reason
Kaka finished putting the puzzle together and hung it in the center of the living room. He had commissioned a jigsaw puzzle, and he had assembled it himself; it was the most beautiful puzzle he had ever completed. Kaka stared at it, lost in thought.
For the first time, he didn’t see Wushuang off.
Every time Wushuang came to London, he would see her off, offering words of advice and expressing his reluctance to part. But this time, he could only listen to the sounds of planes landing and taking off. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to see her off; he simply hated farewells.
Before, when he saw Wushuang off, he knew she would return soon, and he would see her again soon. But this time, he knew that perhaps he would see Wushuang again years later, or... never again.
Kaka couldn’t express the pain in his heart. He tried to calm his agitation and control his emotions, standing straight in front of the puzzle until Chuchu told him that Wushuang and Moyao had left.
Kaka hummed in response, offering little reaction. Chuchu lost her temper and stormed off. She didn’t understand her brother like this, yet at the same time, she felt sorry for him. It was dusk, and the living room lights were off. Her brother stood in the dim light, his expression unseen, staring blankly at the painting. His figure blended into the night, lonely and forlorn. She couldn’t stay to see him like that, even though she desperately wanted to stay and offer him some comfort. But Chu Chu also knew that her brother wouldn’t admit that he was deeply hurt and sad. Frustrated,
little Chu Chu kicked over a pot of vibrant white roses in the garden. The roses rolled quite a distance. Normally, no one was allowed to touch the roses in the garden, or Kaka would be very unhappy. But now? Did he even care?
Zhou Muhan picked up the white roses, put them back, and pinched her nose. "Even if you’re angry, you shouldn’t take it out on the roses."
Chu Chu pouted. "If people don’t cherish them, what’s the use of the flowers?"
Zhou Muhan was speechless. He gently put his hand on Chu Chu’s shoulder and smiled. "Chu Chu, from childhood to adulthood, your brother has never done anything to disappoint you, right? So you have to believe him. He must have his reasons for doing this. You also have to believe that Kaka wants Wushuang to be happy more than anyone else. We are outsiders in their relationship, so it’s not appropriate for us to interfere. Don’t get angry."
"What reasons could there be?" Chu Chu retorted. "What are the reasons? Does my brother really like Sister Jiaqi, so he doesn’t want Sister Wushuang?"
Zhou Muhan smiled. "I don’t know either."
Chu Chu snorted and raised her foot to stomp on the roses. Zhou Muhan hurriedly stopped her. This little princess, she probably didn’t want Kaka to punish her. Chu Chu felt a tightness in her chest. "Do you know why?"
"I don’t know."
"How could you not know? I think my brother is hiding something from us. You’re with him every day, don’t you feel anything’s wrong?" Chu Chu asked sharply, a glint of light flashing in her eyes. "Is my brother feeling unwell?"
Zhou Muhan raised an eyebrow and smiled slightly. "Chu Chu, why would you think that? Kaka has a physical exam every six months. Look, he just brought back Wushuang from Devil’s Castle. He was also the one who handled the rebellion in the Middle East when he was in the intelligence department. He’s very capable. What could be wrong with him? You’re overthinking it."
They’ve had high-intensity physical training since childhood, their physiques are much better than ordinary people, they rarely get sick or catch a cold, and their bodily functions have been very well-maintained since childhood. Any minor ailments have long been cured.
Kaka is a future leader, so his physical requirements are even higher. If he had a health problem, the First Terrorist Organization’s medical team wouldn’t have missed it.
"What you’re saying seems to make sense." Chu Chu also felt that she might be overthinking it. Putting aside the distant past, just this time at Devil’s Castle, her brother personally went there, so his health should be fine.
But what exactly is the reason?
Chu Chu was completely baffled. Zhou Muhan took her hand. "Forget it, don’t think about it. Kaka’s a grown man, why do you need to worry about him? I’ll take you out to play."
Zhou Muhan couldn’t bear to see Chu Chu unhappy. In his eyes, little Chu Chu was the happiest person in the world, everyone’s source of joy. He wanted Chu Chu to always be this happy and carefree. Just as
Zhou Muhan and Chu Chu left, Fang Jiaqi entered the villa.
Kaka was lying alone on a deck chair on the balcony, surrounded by many pots of large red roses. He was partially hidden among the roses, his face appearing somewhat lifeless in the pale light.
Fang Jiaqi walked to the balcony. Kaka glanced at her, then looked away. Fang Jiaqi said, "Wushuang is gone."
"I know, Chu Chu said so," Kaka said indifferently. Fang Jiaqi sat down beside him, smiling at him. "Want to go for a walk?"
"No," Kaka said indifferently.
Fang Jiaqi sighed and said helplessly, "Nanfeng, if you had made a decision earlier, you wouldn’t have lingered on it for so long. You should have ended it a long time ago. If you had made a decision earlier, you wouldn’t have hurt yourself and others."
"This matter has nothing to do with you." Kaka’s tone became heavier, exuding a sense of pressure. Fang Jiaqi shrugged, not getting angry. Kaka never liked others touching this part of his heart.
Wushuang was his weakness.
"I know it has nothing to do with me," Fang Jiaqi said calmly. "I don’t want to ask about your affairs, but Nanfeng, I hope you won’t regret it. Some things in this world, once they’re gone, they’re truly gone forever."
Kaka didn’t react. A trace of sorrow was hidden deep in Fang Jiaqi’s eyes, as if she wanted to say something but couldn’t. Kaka lay on the recliner like a dead man, enjoying the tranquility of the dark night.
Fang Jiaqi said calmly, "How about considering marriage? Once you’re married, you won’t have so many thoughts about it anymore, and you’ll finally put an end to the idea."
Kaka frowned, glanced at Fang Jiaqi, and a half-smile curled at the corner of her lips, her eyes revealing a hint of mockery that looked eerie and sinister in the night. "Marriage? Jiaqi, do you think it’s even necessary?"
Fang Jiaqi shrugged, saying indifferently, "I don’t care."
"I do care!" Kaka replied coldly.
"Then forget it, do as you please." Fang Jiaqi smiled calmly. "I came to tell you that Zhuque’s leg has been saved, but she can no longer work on the outside and has to return to the inside. You need to quickly decide on a new Zhuque. Kaka, sometimes you don’t have to be so ruthless. Zhuque has made a lot of contributions to the First Terrorist Organization over the years. Even if you don’t care about her feelings, you should still consider her hard work. How can you just cripple her like that? I know she has a fiery temper and is a bit arrogant, but she is loyal to the First Terrorist Organization. What will the people below think if you do this?"
