The CEO's Substitute Ex-Wife-Chapter 475: Life and Death
The third floor of the castle was almost entirely destroyed by Wushuang’s firing. It was a frenzied barrage. Ghost Face asked, "What are you doing?"
"Nothing, just letting the Duke know that I have a very firm resolve to die with him," Wushuang said with a faint, utterly dominating smile. Ghost Face looked at her, unsure what to say.
It was past 4 a.m. In a few more hours, dawn would break.
Wushuang wasn’t nervous at all. Ghost Face suddenly remembered something. "By the way, the London police will be here soon."
"You only just thought of that?" Wushuang looked at Ghost Face with amusement. Even in such a tense atmosphere, she was in the mood to joke with him, utterly composed. "The Duke is a British nobleman. Of course, the London police will come after such a major incident."
"We need to hurry and fight our way out, or we’ll die here," Ghost Face said. Although he came to Devil’s Castle with a willingness to die, no one wanted to die if they could live. Ghost Face was no exception.
Wushuang said lightly, "Don’t worry, we absolutely won’t die!"
The moment her voice fell silent, she heard the sound of a fighter jet. Wushuang heard it, Ghost Face heard it, and the Duke heard it too. Ghost Face frowned, looking at the dark sky. The night was intensely black, and the low-hanging sky felt terrifying.
The sound of the fighter jet was distant, but clearly audible.
"The reinforcements have arrived."
Wushuang smiled faintly. "It’s still too early to tell whose side they are on."
She wasn’t nervous at all.
When the Duke heard the sound of the fighter jet, he gave a cold laugh and issued a command: "Go into the castle, launch a full assault! I want them dead without a whole body left."
His voice was ruthless, and dozens of assassins who received the order charged out from the five castles, rushing toward Devil’s Castle. Wushuang narrowed her eyes, grabbing her gun and sweeping the ground below. There were people coming from five directions. She couldn’t stop them all from entering the castle. With Wushuang’s skill, even if they all rushed up, she was confident she could take them all down. However, she had Ghost Face, whom she had accidentally wounded, by her side.
She didn’t want Ghost Face to die, so she didn’t want to get further entangled with this batch of assassins. Gathering her things, Wushuang pulled Ghost Face toward the roof. Although he didn’t know what Wushuang was up to, going to the roof was too risky.
The snipers from two castles hadn’t been eliminated, and now they were heading to the roof.
What Ghost Face didn’t know was that Wushuang was very familiar with the castle’s structure. Going from the sixth floor to the roof was indeed dangerous, but she had eliminated the snipers in three directions. Her actions were never arbitrary; they always had a clear purpose.
Those three castles directly faced the exit, while the remaining two were shielded by a water tank. So Wushuang hadn’t wasted time and bullets dealing with the snipers on the other two castles. After all these years of adventuring, she had never failed.
The two reached the roof. Ghost Face suddenly said, "Damn, someone is climbing up the outer wall from that side."
His hearing was very sensitive. That direction was directly behind the water tank, and the snipers were watching it. If they climbed up, they would be attacked from both the front and back. Wushuang nodded, knowing this naturally. She told Ghost Face to hide behind the water tank. Her figure swiftly moved toward the water tank. Intense gunfire erupted. Wushuang neither dodged nor retreated. She held a magnetic wave scanning gun in each hand. Her eyes were cold, her eyebrows like blades. She rotated the gun muzzles, firing as she advanced.
The dense gunfire was incessant.
She looked as cold as the God of Death coming from a killing field, forging ahead, fearless and dauntless. The cold wind lifted her long hair, adding to her boundless dominance. As her wrists rotated, the gun muzzles spat fire. The people on the other side dared not confront such a mad Wushuang head-on and quickly scattered.
Wushuang, in this state, seemed to be taking on hundreds of men alone, entering a no-man’s-land, killing gods and slaying Buddhas.
Taking advantage of the momentary gap, Wushuang rushed to the edge of the building, pulled out her short gun, and fired several shots at the four assassins climbing up. The four men were hit and fell to the ground. Having successfully eliminated the four assassins, Wushuang once again swept the opposite castle, destroying the building on the roof.
The other side was not to be outdone and fired back at Wushuang. The water tank was damaged, and a massive amount of water gushed out, soaking the entire roof. The assassins’ voices were getting closer. Ghost Face was starting to get anxious.
Could he and Wushuang escape?
Just then, they both saw the fighter jet. The fighter jet flew over their heads. Ghost Face thought a barrage of bullets would sweep down, but instead, an iron cable was dropped. At the same time, the assassins rushed up.
Dozens of people gathered on the sixth floor, all wanting to charge up to the roof. Wushuang killed every assassin she saw, showing no mercy. Ghost Face was injured and couldn’t fight. Wushuang shouted, "You go first!"
Ghost Face understood now. This was Wushuang’s reinforcement. But she was telling him to go first?
Two more men rushed up. Wushuang fired two shots, blowing up their heads, their brains splattering everywhere. Wushuang reloaded without turning her head. "If you don’t want to implicate me, hurry up and go! Go!"
Ghost Face no longer hesitated. He grabbed the rope. As the iron cable ascended, another iron cable slid down from the fighter jet. Ghost Face saw a handsome man in a sky-blue casual suit slide down the cable. As they passed each other, the handsome man frowned. A flash of hostility flickered in his eyes, but he quickly slid down to the roof. The fighter jet flew away, and Ghost Face, hanging on the iron cable, slowly ascended.
The Duke was enraged and ordered his men to shoot at Ghost Face. However, the fighter jet was moving, making it hard to aim. Furthermore, as the men below fired, the short and long guns on the nose of the fighter jet fired simultaneously, making it impossible for anyone to approach.
Ghost Face safely entered the fighter jet.
"Kaka?" Wushuang hadn’t expected Kaka to come personally. His face looked very unhappy. In all the years Wushuang had known him, this was the first time she had seen him angry at her. She felt completely bewildered.
However, there was no time to talk to Kaka. As soon as Kaka reached the roof, the magnetic wave scanning guns on the other side started firing even more fiercely. The water tank was completely destroyed. The Duke’s intention was to destroy the water tank so there would be no obstacles on the roof, making it impossible for them to escape and allowing his men to freely shoot.
Wushuang and Kaka both understood the Duke’s mindset. After another fierce barrage, both their clothes were soaked with water. Kaka aimed his submachine gun at the roof entrance and unleashed a wild spray of bullets. He spoke into his headset, "Vermilion Bird, come here!"
The Vermilion Bird was piloting the fighter jet. At Kaka’s command, the jet quickly flew back. The Duke was furious, shouting, "Concentrate fire! Don’t let them escape!"
Those were surface-to-air missiles, continuously firing at the fighter jet.
No one paid attention to the collapsed Devil’s Castle. Suddenly, a pile of rubble moved, and a pair of hands reached out, pushing away the stones that were pressing down. Wushuang grimaced. *It hurts like hell.* Her head must be bleeding.
But Kaka must be much worse.
The moment the castle collapsed, Kaka had lunged forward, protecting her in his embrace, desperately shielding her from the falling debris. She only suffered injuries to her head and waist; the rest of her was fine. But Kaka?
In the darkness, she felt a wet stickiness. With her keen senses, even through the thick dust, she recognized it as blood.
"Kaka..." Kaka was lying on top of her, completely unresponsive. Wushuang anxiously slapped his face, but he didn’t react. After a strenuous effort to adjust to the dim light, Wushuang tried hard to climb up.
But it was very difficult. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
She was pinned beneath Kaka, with stones pressing down on her from all sides. She couldn’t move. Her body ached, but she was frantic. Wushuang found a burst of strength from somewhere and forcibly pushed away one of the large stones. This push was catastrophic. The balance of the rubble that was barely stacked on top of the two of them was destroyed. Wushuang felt her body suddenly drop, and she was about to fall further down. The sound of crumbling and collapsing filled her ears. Without thinking, she clutched tightly onto Kaka’s waist.
If they were going to die, they would die together!
Wushuang held Kaka tightly as she rolled down with the rubble. In the panic, she reached up and hugged Kaka’s head. Her body was already severely injured, and rolling among the stones, she was most afraid of hitting her head. Between protecting herself and protecting Kaka, she unhesitatingly chose to protect Kaka.
The consequence was that her head was continuously struck multiple times as they rolled, the excruciating pain nearly making her swear. Some sharp edges deeply pierced her scalp.
Finally, the rolling stopped. Wushuang felt something warm continuously flowing onto her body.
*Damn, that hurts.*
She knew she was bleeding, and she had lost a lot of blood.
But thankfully, there were no more stones pinning them down. Wushuang was free. She pushed herself up, but her arm suddenly gave way. "Ah...!"
It was broken.
Wushuang frowned, the pain making her want to bite Kaka. Her left arm was broken. She hadn’t felt it earlier when it was stuck in the rubble, only pain, but now she knew it was fractured. She patted Kaka’s face. "Kaka, wake up..."
She called out several times, but Kaka didn’t wake up. He was more severely injured than she was. Wushuang grabbed Kaka’s headset. She wanted to tell the Vermilion Bird to bring the fighter jet over, but the line seemed to have been crushed by the stones.
She threw the headset away, desperately shaking Kaka with her good arm. "Kaka, wake up! If you don’t wake up, we’re both going to die."
No matter how Wushuang called, Kaka remained unresponsive. She panicked and checked his breathing. Her fingers trembled slightly. She had never been so terrified in her life. Kaka’s breath was very weak. Wushuang breathed a sigh of relief. *Thank goodness he’s alive.* As long as he was breathing, he could be saved.
He suddenly coughed, his voice weak. "If I wasn’t dead, you would shake me to death."
Wushuang was overjoyed. She lunged forward and hugged him, forgetting her own broken arm. The feeling of being found after being lost, of surviving a near-death experience, made her emotions erupt intensely and naturally. She had almost lost him.
"Kaka..."
"Ah... Hiss..." Kaka groaned first, then grimaced. This damned girl! He regretted waking up. Damn it, he didn’t know what was broken on his body, and with her pouncing on him like that, his whole body ached. The two of them collapsed back onto the ground.
Wushuang ended up pinning him down. It was pitch black, and they couldn’t see anything. Above their heads, bullets flew, four fighter jets were locked in a fierce battle, the sound of missiles whistled by, and the wind was tense.
All they heard was the sound of missiles and gunfire. But at this moment, they couldn’t see anything else. Their eyes only saw each other’s silhouettes. Their dark eyes met. Just as Kaka raised a hand to hug her, Wushuang lowered herself and fiercely kissed his lips.
