The CEO's Substitute Ex-Wife-Chapter 210: A Farewell
Chapter 210: A Farewell
Ye Feimo was unmoved. "We broke up completely a long time ago. My inability to forget you these past few years was merely giving myself a reason to believe in love. You don’t understand the environment I grew up in, so you don’t understand my heart, Han Bi. Thank you for leaving me back then."
He felt completely liberated.
Regardless of why Han Bi had left him back then, he no longer wanted to know.
He had once believed deeply in love but was met with betrayal. Whether for fame or profit, Han Bi betrayed him, and that was betrayal. Regardless of the reason, he had always wanted to know what happened back then. She claimed to love him, and then claimed his mother framed her. He still held a sliver of hope that perhaps it was merely due to his mother’s prejudice against her, leading to a staged event.
But no one had told him exactly what happened.
Now, he no longer wanted to know. He had been disappointed in love once. Once a person loses faith in love, it’s not easy to love again. But now, his heart had revived, which was even more precious.
The love of his youth might have been just an impulse. Now, he clearly knew what he wanted.
Perhaps it had become a habit over so many years to pay attention to all of Han Bi’s affairs, to care about her, and to worry when he heard she was ill. It was a habit formed over many years, and breaking it wouldn’t be easy.
But for Wen Nuan, he could.
She was the warmest ray of light in his life, an indispensable part of his heart, and a loss he couldn’t bear.
Because he didn’t want to cling to the past anymore. His lingering ties with Han Bi were, to some extent, driven by a desire to know what truly happened in the past. If that underlying thought was gone, and he completely let go, there would be no reason for him to see Han Bi anymore.
"You’re thanking me?" Her voice almost trembled. What Ye Feimo said sounded truly terrifying to her. Why would he thank her? How could this be?
Hadn’t he always been unforgiving about her leaving?
After she left, she remained active on screen, attending events, film festivals, charity galas... Though mostly abroad, she would always "incidentally" encounter Ye Feimo.
Like at this year’s Venice Film Festival, Feimo clearly went for her.
He wanted to see her.
That was all.
She knew Ye Feimo was a stubborn man; once he loved someone, it was hard for him to change. After she left, the first time she "incidentally" encountered him, she knew Feimo couldn’t forget her.
Han Bi was a smart woman. She knew she had captured a man’s heart, made him lose it, and then made him want it back.
So, no matter how many women appeared around Ye Feimo, she steadily worked in Hollywood. She wanted to carve out a new path, to let everyone know that she was worthy of him.
She was so confident that she even avoided Ye Feimo and sometimes, when they met, she treated him as a stranger. This was actually to keep him wanting more, making him feel that she was hard to get, and making him cherish her even more.
She knew she was becoming increasingly excellent, and increasingly radiant. Feimo would only love her more, and wouldn’t fall in love with anyone else.
This time, returning, she felt enough time had passed.
She no longer lacked fame or fortune. She had explored enough, and was weary, wanting to return to his embrace. She thought Feimo would always open his arms and wait for her. She never expected that things wouldn’t go as she wished.
He still cared about her, but he cared more about another woman.
Why thank her?
Was he thanking her for leaving, which allowed him to meet Wen Nuan and fall in love with Wen Nuan?
Han Bi felt utterly cold, gripping her phone, on the verge of tears.
"Feimo, we were once so happy. Are you really going to abandon me?" Han Bi said, her voice choked. She had put down all her pride and arrogance, trying to win Ye Feimo back.
She was his first love, his first woman. He wouldn’t forget her so easily.
"Happy?" Ye Feimo frowned, leaning back, slowly closing his eyes. Remembering the joy he felt when he was with Wen Nuan, the corners of his lips involuntarily turned up. The evening breeze ruffled the stray hairs on his forehead, spreading into the night with his smiling eyes.
"Han Bi, when you were with me, did you ever see me smile?"
Han Bi was startled. Had she ever seen him smile?
Very rarely, almost never. Because the Feimo she knew was always expressionless, very wooden. It was hard for others to tell if he was happy or not. Even when he was happy, sometimes he would only slightly curve his lips.
"I felt that you were very happy when you were with me," Han Bi said.
Ye Feimo curled his lips in mockery. "You’re wrong. The happiness Wen Nuan brings me is something you never brought me, Han Bi. I’ve said all I need to say. Whether you keep that watch or throw it away, it’s up to you."
With that, he hung up the phone.
That watch had been with him for many years; he had always worn it, as if it were a promise, and an agreement. It hadn’t changed all these years, just as his affection for Han Bi had become a habit over the years.
Suddenly, his hand felt empty, and he truly wasn’t used to it.
But there was no reluctance in his heart, only a faint feeling of release, as if something that had bound him had finally been removed. This way, he and Han Bi would no longer be entangled.
If Wen Nuan wanted to know, he would tell her about his relationship with Han Bi, hoping she wouldn’t be angry anymore.
Han Bi clutched the watch, her heart aching as if torn by a knife. So, between him and her, he truly wanted to give up.
What he said when he came to see her that day was true.
He truly wanted to break off with her completely. How could this be? Had she returned too late?
Was it really too late?
"Linda, I feel so bad, so bad. Can you understand this feeling? It’s like a thousand arrows piercing my heart," Han Bi sobbed. There was no one around her who could understand her feelings, except her long-time agent, Linda.
"I understand, Han Bi. The pain is only temporary. Things will get better in the future, don’t worry, everything will be fine. Young Master Ye Second will still love you the most. Wen Nuan is just a minor character; she won’t take your man away. Don’t worry," Linda comforted Han Bi, inwardly resentful of Wen Nuan. If not for her appearance, Han Bi wouldn’t be so disappointed.
They were downstairs at the Famous City apartment building. Han Bi had come to return the watch, initially hoping to make Ye Feimo come down again, but unfortunately, Ye Feimo said he was busy, so Han Bi came with Linda.
She didn’t expect to be shut out without even seeing him. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
