Chapter 83: Chapter 83: This Young Master’s Gentleness Is Intoxicating

"What’s hard to part with?" he pressed on.

Yelena Hughes met his gaze, without a hint of evasion, "I can’t bear to cut ties with you, Little Master."

His breathing grew a little tense; her heart was actually pounding like a drum. What was she saying?

Yelena’s face was scorching hot; she wished she could open the window for some cool breeze.

The car returned to the city streets, bustling and lively. Jasper Yale spotted a shop up ahead.

"Stop the car."

The driver didn’t dare ask questions and immediately pulled over.

"Get out."

Yelena followed Jasper without asking more.

His silhouette was slender, strikingly prominent in the crowd. She lingered as he stood waiting for her.

Yelena was a bit absent-minded. He walked over and clasped her hand.

His palm was cool to the touch; Yelena hurried to break free.

Why was he... holding her hand?

Jasper tightened his grip a little more and led Yelena into the flower shop. It was empty except for the shop owner.

"Hello, what can I do for you?"

Yelena withdrew her hand, engulfed by the strong floral scent. Enormous bunches of flowers were clumped together, being nurtured. She glanced at the man beside her. "Are you buying flowers for Miss Alden?"

Jasper shot her a sideways glance.

Why dampen the mood?

He walked over to the area with roses and addressed Yelena, "You pick."

Shouldn’t he have just made a call to send the gift directly to Nancy Alden?

It’s already late; why waste her time like this?

Yelena wasn’t good at choosing, picking whichever looked nice. Anyway, Jasper was wealthy, and the recipient was Miss Alden. He wouldn’t mind if she picked too many.

Her arms were full, her face hidden behind the flowers, Jasper only heard her voice.

"These are all beautiful."

"Alright, wrap them all up."

It took the shop owner a while to wrap them. The flowers looked even larger once bundled.

Jasper paid the bill and saw Yelena about to leave. "Take the flowers."

"They’re very heavy."

"Didn’t you have quite a hearty meal earlier?"

Yelena was speechless. The flowers weighed heavily in her arms. As she exited the shop, unable to see clearly, she missed a step.

Her body lunged forward, and the flowers bumped into Jasper.

The lilies’ pollen scattered onto his suit, and Jasper turned around. "Are your eyes on top of your head?"

"I couldn’t see the way."

"Then I’ll hold your hand while you walk."

"No... no need." For Yelena, she’d rather trip and stagger all the way; her hand was still cold from when he held it earlier.

She struggled as she sat back in the car.

The car was filled with the fragrance of flowers, packed to the brim. The bouquet pressed against Yelena, rendering her immovable.

The driver dropped her off downstairs, and she quickly pushed the flowers towards Jasper’s side.

"Little Master, goodnight."

She pushed open the car door to leave but was stopped by Jasper. "Did I say you could go?"

She had to lean back in. "Do you have any instructions then?"

"Take the flowers upstairs."

Hailey Jenkins overheard at the front, his brows involuntarily raised. Even he thought the flowers were for Nancy.

Yelena didn’t dare reach out and take them. "Aren’t these... for Miss Alden?"

"These ones you picked are ugly; she wouldn’t like them."

How could they be ugly?

She had chosen the most expensive ones.

Jasper saw her gaze of doubt. His face showed a hint of unnaturalness, "Your sister might like them; give them to her. If not, throw them in the trash bin downstairs."

Yelena carried the bouquet out, Jasper watched her ascend the stairs. She wouldn’t discard them; it’d be too wasteful.

Back home, Anne Hughes was stunned at the sight, her jaw nearly dropped.

"Sis, did you win the lottery?"

"No such thing." Yelena found them too heavy and placed them on the ground. "They were given by the Little Master."

"Sis, is he chasing after you?"

Yelena felt her heart skip a beat, certainly from climbing the stairs with a heavy item. "These flowers are for you; he said they should make you happy every day."

Anne did like them; her simple nature meant her mood could easily be lifted.

Like now, the bouquet made her completely forget her previous upset.

Jasper returned to The Summit Gardens, his tall figure ascending the stairs, just as Josephine was headed down.

"Little Master, you’re back."

"Is she asleep yet?"

"No, she insists on waiting for you to come back before she sleeps."

Jasper loosened his tie, "Tell her to rest early."

Josephine saw him heading to his room, "Little Master, she’s been watching from the window..."

If Jasper’s car came in, she would surely see it.

The man said nothing, moving to knock on Nancy’s door.

"Come in quickly."

If Jasper had not approached, Nancy Alden could already smell the fragrance, not the perfume’s, but purely floral.

Her face lit up with delight, but seeing Jasper empty-handed, her expression stiffened a bit.

"You came back quite early today."

"Yes, came back after dinner."

Jasper moved beside her, sitting down in the single-seater sofa. Nancy unintentionally glanced behind him, spotting pollen clinging to him.

"You smell so nice."

Submerged in flowers, he hadn’t noticed the scent. "There were flowers at the dining place."

This explanation seemed too dismissive.

Jasper looked towards the coffee table, where a sculpted vase held an array of vibrant flowers.

He couldn’t help but think of that soy sauce bottle in the Hughes family’s living room, with a solitary lily and two roses, probably not fresh when bought.

And he thought of Yelena fiercely protective of her family, like a beast.

"Jasper?"

Nancy called twice until he looked at her. "I’m a bit tired today; rest early."

"But..." He hadn’t told her a story yet. "Jasper, I can’t fall asleep."

"I’ll ask Josephine to make you some hot milk," Jasper stood up.

His mind drifted back to Yelena, recalling too many moments of her downfall, disgraceful scenes that he’d witnessed. He ought to detest her, shouldn’t he?

Yet, he felt conflicted inside; was he a pervert?

After seeing delicate flowers so much, did he find himself drawn to wild grass crawling out of the mud?

The quiet returned to Nancy’s room, she wheeled herself to the bedside.

The phone chimed, followed by a series of beep sounds.

She picked it up to glance, all photos sent by the other party.

Nancy dared not surveil Jasper, so she hired a private detective to keep an eye on Yelena.

She clicked with her finger, nearly shattering her gaze at the sight.

"Yelena Hughes!"

Nancy saw the two in the photos, seemingly kissing!

Jasper’s face was captured clearly, and he seemed... to quite enjoy it.

Nancy scrolled further down, noticing the snaps of Yelena holding flowers.

She was furious, almost gritting her teeth; if this woman wasn’t eradicated, she’d cling to Jasper like a leech.
