Chapter 8: Chapter 8: I Didn’t Mean to Defy You

Yelena Hughes’s body trembled; she still didn’t know if her sister was alive or dead, leaving her entire being tense.

Jasper Yale took off his robe, his bronzed skin radiating aggression.

Yelena Hughes’s body arched up, the phone screen glowing faintly, allowing her to see her mother sitting in the corridor.

Mrs. Hughes glanced at Hailey Jenkins, "Excuse me... have you seen my daughter?"

Hailey Jenkins shook his head, "No, I haven’t seen her."

"Can’t you focus?" Jasper’s words were quiet but loud enough to reach the other end of the call.

Hailey Jenkins swallowed hard, standing a bit further away from Mrs. Hughes.

Hailey Jenkins was the most tormented one at the moment, his grip failed, and the phone fell to the ground.

Mrs. Hughes, not knowing him, still regarded him as a lifesaver. Before Hailey Jenkins could bend down, she stepped swiftly to pick up the phone.

Yelena Hughes was nervous, her body was tense too, earning a soft reproach from Jasper.

Mrs. Hughes looked instinctively at the screen, unable to see clearly, the camera seemed to be pointed at a person’s head.

"Did you forget to hang up?"

Hailey Jenkins had an uneasy look but took the phone, still daring not to hang up.

Mrs. Hughes returned to her seat, Yelena Hughes reached to turn off the video. The two scrambled for a while, and Jasper clearly became upset.

"You’ve got guts."

"Like this, I don’t feel it."

"Really? What would make you feel it?"

Jasper let go of Yelena Hughes’s hand, directly aiming the camera at her face. She pushed herself up to reach for it, completely forgetting that Jasper was still on top of her.

Yelena Hughes’s posterior crashed into Jasper’s nose, causing him to grunt in pain.

"Yelena!"

Jasper’s way of addressing her changed, and Yelena Hughes wisely complied, promptly lying back down.

She turned her head for a glimpse, seeing the man with a face full of anger.

"Young Master, I didn’t mean to offend you."

"Really?"

Jasper touched the tip of his nose, his gaze shifting as he leaned down, "Well, I mean on purpose; do you like it?"

Yelena Hughes’s body reacted; she’s not made of stone, and with little experience, she couldn’t resist this man’s handling.

Hailey Jenkins really wanted to say that the young master was quite the flirt.

Turns out, on the bed, he was like this, even more flirtatious than a woman.

The emergency room door was pushed open, Mrs. Hughes rushed over, "Doctor, how is my daughter?"

"She’s awake now."

Hailey Jenkins aimed the camera at that side, "Young Master, she’s awake."

Jasper hung up the video call, leaned into Yelena Hughes’s ear, "It seems you really care about your sister. Knowing she’s out of danger has completely relaxed you."

Yelena Hughes scratched the blanket with her fingers, feeling as if her body was going to be crushed, "Young Master, how long do you think my sister will live?"

"That’s not something I control."

His palm reached over, and she pulled it close to her mouth, "But you have the medication."

She gently bit Jasper’s finger and then slowly applied pressure.

Yelena Hughes’s eyes were damp and sticky, and seeing her like this, Jasper’s impulsive urge surged again.

That night, he didn’t let her leave.

When Yelena Hughes saw the man beside her asleep, she sat up, leaning against the headboard.

She accepted it fully, sleeping was just sleeping, and since there was only this path, there wasn’t much to feel bad about.

At least, she snatched her sister’s life back from the gates of hell.

The rain outside was heavy, pattering against the windows. Jasper rolled over but couldn’t reach that soft body.

He opened his eyes, "Staying up late mourning your purity?"

His words were truly venomous.

Yelena Hughes wrapped her lower body with the quilt, "I’m just worried about my sister, and my mom, who’s not in good health either."

"What about your dad?"

Yelena Hughes paused for two or three seconds, "Missing for over a year now, we don’t know if he’s alive or dead."

No wonder.

He still remembered her shivering, the first time she climbed into his bed.

Eyes closed tight, her body stiffened and spread out. If not for the striking image her figure presented, he wouldn’t have wanted to touch this bland woman.

"Got a cigarette?" Yelena Hughes asked softly.

He cast a glance at her, "You smoke?"

"No, I just want to try."

Jasper’s expression softened, "If you dare smoke, you’ll be out of here."

"Why? Don’t all men smoke?"

With a long reach, Jasper retrieved the cigarette box from the bedside table.

He sat by the bed’s edge, exposing a lean, slender physique in front of Yelena Hughes.

Jasper placed a cigarette in his mouth, the lighter shot up a flame, Yelena Hughes barely caught a glimpse of the coldness sweeping across his eye.

He beckoned her forward, Yelena Hughes shuffled closer.

Jasper pulled her into his embrace, noticing her hands still clutching the quilt tightly.

"Why so detached?"

His Adam’s apple moved up and down, maliciously blowing smoke onto Yelena Hughes’s face, "Do you like this taste?"

It made her choke, staring at the man through the smoke.

At this moment, Jasper was relatively normal, all emotions vividly expressed on his face. Yelena Hughes saw him narrowing his eyes, extremely seductive.

"Does smoking ease worry? Just like drinking?"

"You really don’t listen to advice, do you?"

Yelena Hughes tilted her head, "I truly want to try, just one puff."

Jasper held the cigarette in his hand, Yelena Hughes noticed faint teeth marks left on it.

The next second, his fingers gripped her chin, with a bit of force, he pried her mouth open.

A puff of smoke went into her mouth, barely having time to savor it before Jasper caught her tongue.

He kissed meticulously, not missing an inch, leaving Yelena Hughes’s mouth full of smoke.

When he released her, Jasper stubbed out the cigarette in his hand, "How does it feel?"

She feigned savoring it, "Not bad, all young master’s taste."

The man appreciated the remark, and seeing him in a good mood, Yelena Hughes placed her hand on Jasper’s arm.

"The medicine you gave me last time, it’s finished."

"And then?"

Without him volunteering to offer, Yelena Hughes had to thicken her skin.

"I want some more."

Jasper stared at her, as if Yelena Hughes was stripped and placed on a scale, her value entirely in Jasper’s hands.

He smiled, eyes full of mischief, "Sure, one box each time."

Yelena Hughes hadn’t expected him to be so blatant, but she had no right to refuse. "Alright."

"One box lasts ten days," Jasper reconsidered, "Five times for a box."

"..."

Why didn’t he just say once a day?
