“If I die, donate all my assets and bury my ashes on an island called Moon Bay.”
Was this an arrangement for his last affairs?
Xue Baoyi wasn’t quite sure and asked, “Are you running a fever?”
He was starting to talk nonsense.
Xue Baoyi raised his hand to touch Jiang Zhi’s head to check for a fever, but the moment he looked up, he was met with a cool gaze, “Did you understand?”
Damn, he’s serious!
Is this him making a will?
Xue Baoyi was thrown into confusion: “…Understood.”
Oh God, if Zhou Xufang didn’t make it, Jiang Zhi might commit suicide, right? Swallow pills? Or hang himself? Or maybe jump into the river… The more Xue Baoyi thought about it, the more terrified he became, but since his little subordinate was there, he couldn’t lose his composure.
Soon after, Qiao Nanchu arrived, also with a girl.
He didn’t approach Jiang Zhi, but instead asked Xue Baoyi, “How is it going?”
Xue Baoyi lowered his voice to make sure Jiang Zhi couldn’t hear, “I don’t know about Zhou Xufang, Brother Zhi seems pretty sick.”
Qiao Nanchu had expected this.
It was then that Xue Baoyi noticed the young girl behind him and signaled with his eyes: “You brought her out?”
Qiao Nanchu couldn’t be bothered to banter, shielding Wen Baiyang behind him.
At 10:10, the stitches for the wound were finished.
Vice President Sun, being an internal medicine doctor, did not participate; the surgeon was Director Qi of General Surgery. Vice President Sun supervised the entire procedure, and as soon as it was over, he began the post-op work.
“I will transfer the overtime pay into each of your accounts separately.”
It sounded nice to call it overtime pay, but the few medical staff selected tonight to treat this special patient were all smart enough to know this was really hush money.
A slightly younger nurse who hadn’t thought too deeply took it as a windfall and excitedly said, “Thank you, Vice President!”
Vice President Sun wasn’t all smiles: “Once you walk out of this door, not a single word about this patient can be leaked.” His expression was stern, “Understood?”
That excited nurse couldn’t smile anymore.
“Understood.”
Afterward, the doors of the operating room opened, and Vice President Sun led people out. As soon as he stepped out, the first thing he saw was Jiang Zhi waiting at the door.
Vice President Sun quickly stepped forward: “Mr. Jiang.”
He asked, “Is the bleeding under control?”
“It’s under control.” Vice President Sun said, “The patient is out of danger now.”
In contrast, Jiang Zhi looked like the patient himself, his face devoid of any color.
Vice President Sun then asked, “Mr. Jiang, do you need me to check on you?”
Jiang Zhi shook his head, simply saying, “Thank you.”

Rarely did this gentleman thank someone so earnestly. Vice President Sun, taken aback, hurriedly responded, “It’s the least I could do.” Looking around and seeing others present, he approached and whispered, “Mr. Jiang, rest assured, everything has been taken care of.”
Jiang Zhi nodded.
Zhou Xufang was still not out yet. He lifted his foot to go in, but having stood for too long, his feet were numb, and he staggered.
Qiao Nanchu, standing closest, steadied him: “You should rest a bit first.”
Pretending to be sick was one thing, but Jiang Zhi’s health truly wasn’t in the best shape; they couldn’t have Zhou Xufang recover only to have him collapse.
He wouldn’t listen and shook off Qiao Nanchu’s hand.
At this moment, Zhou Xufang was wheeled out of the operating room by the nurses. She hadn’t woken up yet and was transferred to the VIP ward. Jiang Zhi stayed by her bedside without moving an inch, crouching until his legs went numb.
She was still under the effects of anesthesia, unconscious. Because her spontaneous breathing wasn’t very strong, she was still wearing an oxygen mask.
Jiang Zhi watched her, his heart painfully aching, “Xufang, does it still hurt?”
Her eyebrows were furrowed, and she didn’t open her eyes.
Jiang Zhi leaned down and kissed her forehead, “Sleep for a while, I’ll be right back.”
Xue Baoyi immediately asked, “Where are you going?”
Jiang Zhi didn’t answer, his gaze moving past Xue Baoyi, “Take care of her for me.”
Fang Lixiang hesitated for a moment, “Okay.”
After giving his instructions, he got up and left. Qiao Nanchu blocked his path at the door, reminding him, “Jiang Zhi, don’t do anything rash.” He knew how extreme he could be when pushed.
Jiang Zhi pushed him away, “Don’t worry, I’m not going to kill or set anything on fire.” Zhou Xufang wouldn’t like that.
After saying this, he left the ward. It wasn’t until he was far from the ward that he stopped, leaning against the wall and coughing violently.
“Mr. Jiang,” Vice President Sun happened to see him and quickly went to inquire, “Are you alright?”
He said it was nothing, “I need all the medical records for my girlfriend to be completely wiped.”
“I understand.”
His throat itchy, he faintly tasted blood, “Tell those people, if they leak anything, I will not spare their wives and children, their parents will bear the consequences.”
That must have been the most vicious thing he had ever said.
For Zhou Xufang, he was prepared to be ruthlessly cruel.
At 10:40 p.m., Jiang Zhi drove to Changling Hospital.
The nurse on duty was dozing off when she heard footsteps. Rubbing her eyes and yawning, she looked over, “Are you here to visit a patient?”
The lights in the hospital corridor weren’t very bright, and the nurse, having just woken up, had a groggy sight and couldn’t see the person clearly. All she knew was that it was a tall male figure, wearing a mask and a hat.
He seemed somewhat secretive.
The duty nurse shook her head to clear it a little and said, “Entering and exiting the VIP ward requires registration.” Beyond that was the VIP ward.
The gentleman seemed to pay no heed and went straight in.
“Sir.”
“Sir.”
He couldn’t be called back, so the nurse on duty got up to follow: “Sir!”
This uninvited guest was Jiang Zhi.
Coincidentally, a nurse was pushing a medical cart towards him.
Jiang Zhi raised his hand and stopped the cart.
The nurse looked up and saw a pair of peach blossom eyes with hooked corners. The eyes’ owner was silent, took a pair of scissors and a pair of rubber gloves from the cart.
“Sir, what are you—”
Jiang Zhi glanced up.
The nurse was alarmed by that intimidating gaze and watched him walk away. It wasn’t until a long while later that she snapped back to reality and said to the duty nurse who had caught up, “Go call security immediately!”
Click.
The door to the ward opened, and Luo Qinghe looked up at the sound. The visitor wore a mask, but she could recognize the misty blue hair as belonging to only one person.
“Jiang Zhi?”
Bang!
He locked the door behind him.
Luo Qinghe closed the laptop she had on her lap and put it aside, “Are you here to see me?”
Jiang Zhi remained silent, slipping on the rubber gloves he was holding.
Only then did Luo Qinghe notice the scissors in his right hand. Not only that, but his suit was splattered with blood, and even his forehead had a few bloody marks.
He had come in the middle of the night to settle accounts with her.
Luo Qinghe had guessed it too, “Is this blood Zhou Xufang’s?”
His answer was noncommittal, “Did you do it?”
No wonder he had come; he was pinning everything on her. “If I say it wasn’t me, would you believe it?”
“I wouldn’t.”
That was that, then. A person in turmoil, eager for revenge, wouldn’t listen to any explanations.
Luo Qinghe pulled out the IV needle from the back of her hand and got off the bed, walking towards Jiang Zhi, “Are you here to kill me?”
“I’m not going to kill you.”
He walked over to the bedside cabinet, tossed the scissors into an empty cup, and poured a cup of scalding hot water over it to disinfect and remove fingerprints. His movements were calm and deliberate as he said, “She bled as much as you owe.”
Luo Qinghe watched the scissors in the cup, “I didn’t do it.”
He, unafraid of getting burnt, took the scissors out of the cup with his gloved hand, wiping off the droplets of water, “Even if it wasn’t you, you’ll pay.” He used the pad of his finger to wipe away the droplets on the scissors, “Wrongful killing doesn’t matter, as long as there are no leaks.”
Wrongful killing doesn’t matter.
She thought the same.
“Jiang—”
Before she could finish calling out, Jiang Zhi lunged at her with a pillow over her head, pinning her down on the hospital bed, raised his hand with the scissors and stabbed ruthlessly into her back.
The sharp scissors pierced through skin and flesh, blood splattered, and the wound was in the same location as where Zhou Xufang was injured.
Luo Qinghe screamed in pain. She tried to struggle, but her head was pressed down hard, rendering her immobile.
As the scissors pierced a few centimeters into her flesh, blood didn’t flow profusely, but it was enough to stain Jiang Zhi’s plastic gloves red. He didn’t pull out the scissors, his other hand pressing down the pillow.
“From now on, any harm that comes to my girlfriend, if the assailant can’t be found, I’ll hold you responsible.” He was teetering on the edge of rage, struggling to control the violent desires within him, “Do you understand?”
Luo Qinghe gritted her teeth, enduring the pain, and turned her face, “You care so much for her, huh?”
Why couldn’t he continue liking men?
His affection for Zhou Xufang, that fact, filled her with a destructive impulse.
“Yes.” His gaze was icy, but the bundle of light at the center of his pupils was as bright as scorching flames, “Try touching her again.”
A threat.
A chilling threat.
With that, he thrust the scissors deeper.
Luo Qinghe screamed in pain, “Jiang Zhi!”
As the sharp point drove into her flesh, blood seeped out instantly, and she screamed in excruciating pain.
Jiang Zhi turned a blind eye, stood up, and pulled out the scissors along with him, tossing them to the floor: “If you’re not convinced, go ahead and sue me. Let’s see if it’s you who ends up in jail, or me.”
Luo Qinghe’s legs gave way, and she half collapsed on the bed, kneeling on the floor. Her white and blue hospital gown quickly stained with a large patch of red from her blood.
