The Broken Halo-Chapter 76: Simon Says
Simon felt a certain sense of freedom and pride as he stood before four demons who were trembling in fear before him.
These demons had far more demonic energy than him. Their chaos flames were far more refined than his, but they were still weaker than him.
’Let’s play a game.’
’Let’s play a game.’
’Let’s play a game.’
’Let’s play a game.’
That voice. That damned voice of the pig kept on echoing inside his head, and flashes of the pig’s laughter as he whipped him, as he broke his body flashed in his mind.
He could remember all the emotions he had back then, but right now, his blood boiled for a completely different emotion.
Anger
Rage
Fury
His blood boiled at the mere remembrance that it was a mere pig that tortured him and brought him so low.
It boiled at the sound of the pig’s laughter.
It boiled at the sound of his plea and begging.
It boiled at the sheer disgrace and embarrassment it faced at the hands of a mere disgusting and twisted pig.
His blood was furious.
He was furious.
And he needed to let out this fury or else it would consume him from the inside out.
His bloodlust and killing intent which had been refined and honed for decades as the Halo of Earth nearly spewed out in full force, but something at the back of his mind subconsciously stopped him from releasing his full killing intent.
Subconsciously, he knew what would happen if he unleashed his true and entire killing intent, every demon in the valley, the entire Shadowgrave Clan, and beyond it would sense it and fear it.
Those who did not fear his killing intent would come to him and any demon that does such would be able to kill him with a single flick of his finger.
However, his killing intent was still far too much for the four kids to withstand.
It was like they were facing a demon of war who had tasted the blood and hearts of demons and humans alike.
"Die demon!"
Clang!
Bang!
A scream tore through the air which was then followed by the sound of metals clashing and the a grenade going off.
Bang!
"Fuck!"
Jath cursed as he was kicked to a tree by Simon. The tree cracked, and he tried to get up but a sharp pain erupted from his waist, and he grunted.
"Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck!"
Jath cursed vehemently as his mind was torn by the countless thoughts and fear in his head.
"Jath! Where are you?! Arrgghh!!"
A familiar scream echoed in his ears, and his head snapped to the source of the scream.
He saw Simon stand behind Bria and slice her right wing off her body.
It was a clean cut, but it hurt the Raven Demon that she fell on her knees right in front of Simon.
Thin crimson spider webs that could not be seen with the naked eyes suddenly appeared around Simon’s neck, but the moment the webs were about to touch his neck, he instantly crouched, effectively dodging the spider webs.
"What the fuck?! How?!"
Orianna shouted with a fearful expression, and Simon looked at her for a second before his legs emitted a silver light and then...
Bang!
The ground cracked beneath his feet, and the wind shot him forward.
In the blink of an eye, he appeared before Orianna with a smile of cruelty and madness.
He was about to swing his sword up, which would cut the only arm she had left, but Simon’s expression changed and he quickly jumped away.
Roots suddenly shot out of ground where he stood, and the roots turned and followed Simon even as he ran in circles.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
The speed of the roots were extremely fast, but Simon always dodged at the last moment whenever a root was about to pierce him from behind.
Simon calmly looked back, and he saw a dark green liquid coating the surface of the roots.
’Fucking poison.’
Although he was not in the right state of mind, he had been wary of the Purple Orchid Demon all because of its poison which could melt flesh, bones, and even metals upon contact.
It was a truly dangerous poison.
Bang!
He dodged another poisoned root, but his ears twitched and he looked forward.
"Die!"
Despite the loss of a wing, Bria shot out a dozen wind blades at Simon, hoping to disrupt his movement or slow him down so that Sog- the Purple Orchid Demon, could kill him.
Simon was about to dodge the attack, but something thrummed in his blood, and a mad thought came to his mind.
As the first wind blade was about to cut him, he coated his right hand in his silver demonic energy, then he caught the wind blade and held it.
A screeching sound travelled across the environment as the wind blade attempted to cut Simon’s hand in two, but it could not go past his demonic energy which is of a higher grade and quality than Bria’s.
Without wasting a single second, he caught another wind blade, then deflected the remaining toward the others and the poisonous roots behind him.
The screams of Jath, Orianna, and even Bria could be heard, but Simon’s gaze was on Sog.
Whoosh!
The wind blade in his hand turned silver, then he threw it at the Purple Orchid Demon.
Sog was shocked at the speed of the wind blades, and he could not react in time.
A wind blade cut him from his left shoulder down to his chest, while another sliced off his right arm.
Sog grunted while clutching his severed arm.
Then the battlefield went silent for a moment.
The three Fiends stared at the slowly breathing Simon whose killing intent was getting stronger and stronger.
"Who- no- what are you?" Jath stuttered with a fearful expression as he stared at Simon who stood with the sword of his dead companion in one hand and a smile of cruelty and madness in the other.
Every single cell in his body was telling him to run, to escape, to flee to a place this true demon would never reach.
But he couldn’t.
Even if he wanted to run out of fear, he just could not turn and run.
His legs wobbled and his Silver Wolf bloodline cowered before Simon’s presence.
He took a subtle glance at the others with sweat pouring down his face, and he could see just how terrible some of their injuries were.
Orianna the Blood Spider was missing her right arm, and her eyes were filled with fear as she held the stump from her shoulder.
He could see her trying to heal the injuries on her arm with her blood techniques, but a sharp silver light on her severed arm prevented her from doing so.
She was panicking, and she was extremely fearful and filled with dread.
Bria, the Raven Demon, had a missing wing, and just like Orianna, a silver light prevented her wing from healing.
Her eyes were also filled with dread as she stared at Simon, but her reason for Simon’s dread was completely different from the others.
Her bloodline gave her the ability to manipulate the wind element, and although they were not the best, they were not average when it came to the wind element.
However, when she unleashed wind blades on Simon, her wind blades did nothing to him. He just grabbed it and used it against her and the others.
She could only think of one reason why Simon was able to do such a thing.
"Let’s play a game."
To the surprise of everybody, Simon spoke, and Jath narrowed his eyes with a suspicious expression.
"A game?"
Simon’s smile widened. "Of course. It’s called... Simon says."
