The Broken Halo-Chapter 74: A Game?

For the first time since he encountered the arrogant leader of the group of six, Simon chose to truly look at him.

Despite their several encounters, Simon had not truly registered his face or even looked at him because he was a nobody in his eyes.

But this time around, he chose to truly look at the kid who had been jumping around him like a monkey.

The first thing he noticed about the group leader was the silver-gray fur that were on his arms and neck. Then he noticed the child’s pale gold eyes, and his sharp teeth that were like those of a wolf.

The leader was taller and more broad-shouldered than him, and his posture was like that of a predator looking at prey as he stared at him.

’The bloodline of a Silver Wolf. The bloodline is normally a Superior Noble bloodline, but since his fur is not pure silver but silver-gray with more patches of gray than silver, his bloodline is probably a Minor Noble Bloodline.’

Simon’s gaze then shifted to the next demon, and this demon was actually the demon he was interested in amongst the group.

This most noticeable thing about this demon were his two curved black horns.

Compared to him who only had a single horn on the right side of his head, the demon who had two horns seemed... more complete than him.

Not only were the demon’s horns more than his, they were longer than his.

The demon had a black skin with chaos runes tattooed all over his body.

When the demon saw that Simon was looking at him and observing his horns and chaos runes, he scoffed in disdain and mockery.

Clearly, he was looking down on Simon because he was an incomplete one-horned demon.

However, the horns of the demon was not the true reason he was interested in this demon.

The true reason was because of the sword hanging by the waist of the demon.

The two-horned demon was the only demon with a sword, and Simon had his eyes on the sword ever since he noticed it in the barrier.

The sword was also the reason why he allowed the group to easily locate him.

There were many demons who had a weapon, but Simon had none. The only thing he had were his claws, but he knows that he could not keep on using his claws for the second trial and whatever trial is left.

Besides, he was not completely comfortable using his claws.

The only reason why he was okay using them was because of his bloodline which made his mind and body to acknowledge that his claws were one of his main weapons in his arsenal.

He could have chosen to go after another candidate with a sword, but when he sensed that this group was chasing him, he decided that the two-horned demon would be his unlucky target.

’The horns of a two-horned demons are able to increase the rate at which the demon absorbs demonic energy, and this makes them to possess more demonic energy than some other demons with a similar Superior Noble Bloodline.’

’Two-horned demons are usually like mages. They love to use the element their connected with to fight, but this one uses a sword.’

’I’ve seen some Two-horned demons using a sword before, but it’s rare. But maybe it’s because his affinity is with the shadow or darkness element. I guess I’ll find out soon enough.’

Simon then looked at the other demons in the group.

’A humanoid female with pale skin, four slender limbs folded tightly behind her back, and fine red veins glowing faintly across her arms like threads... A Blood Spider Demon.’

’A humanoid female with dark-feathered wings folded tightly behind her. Her eyes are black slits, and her fingers and toes end in thin, obsidian talons... A Raven Demon.’

’Another humanoid female with thin black fur all over her body and glowing violet eyes. When the group was moving, I didn’t hear a single sound.’

’Hmm... She’s probably a Shadow Panther Demon or a Shadow Leopard Demon, and she’s also the reason why that wolf approached me with malicious intent back then.’

When the girl saw that Simon was looking at her, she smiled cutely at him with a tinge of lust and desire in her eyes.

Simon shook his head slightly and sighed. Then he looked at the Silver Wolf who had been talking and threatening him while he was observing his companions.

’He’s interested in her, but now she’s interested in me and his ego was bruised. He wants to assert his dominance over me and kill me.’

Simon could see it at a glance, and it was not the first time such a thing was happening to him.

He shook his head slightly and decided to focus on the last person who was the most troublesome demon for him amongst the six.

The demon was a slender demon with pale green skin and dark markings that resemble flower petals blooming across his neck and chest.

On top of his head was a purple orchid.

’A Poison Orchid Demon.’

Simon’s expression became slightly solemn when he looked at the demon whose smile never left his face.

’He would definitely be a problem.’

The gears in Simon’s turned as he thought of how to kill every single one of them effectively.

The wolf was still speaking arrogantly, believing that Simon was listening to him, not knowing that his death was mere minutes away.

’Let’s see.’

Simon’s attention was drawn back to the world, and the wolf’s voice drifted into his ears.

"I’ve decided to have some fun with you and teach you your place. Let’s play a game while we’re at it, shall we?"

Simon froze. "A game?"

The wolf’s eyes shined brightly when he saw Simon’s frozen expression.

He laughed. "Yes. A game. Let’s see how many punches you can take from me before your ugly little face becomes even more ugly. Then we’ll..."

The voice of the wolf became more and more distant in Simon’s ears, but he heard a new voice.

Two voices.

The first, was the voice of Pellin- the demon pig that tortured him.

The second, was the sound of the soul-eating centipede crawling through his mind, soul, and body.
