Chapter 48: 48: That’s Enough

[A/N: For those that watched Tokyo Ghoul. I took inspiration from it for this Chapter.]

"I nearly forgot my new toy."

Simon did not even bother raising his head when he heard the words of Pellin. Even if he was not too weak to raise his head, he would still not bother to look at the new toy Pellin was talking about.

He just wanted to sleep for as long as possible. And obviously, that was not possible in his current situation.

Pa Pa

"Hey kid. Don’t die on me. We’ve not gotten to the good part yet."

Pellin gently slapped Simon’s face and shook his head so that he could wake up.

Simon’s swollen and bloodied eyes struggled to open, and when it did, he frowned when he saw the unmoving screaming human faced centipede in a jar.

’What’s that?’

As Simon had this question in his mind, Pellin spoke.

"I’m sure you’re wondering what this is, right?

Simon shifted his gaze to Pellin, but he didn’t react to the pig’s question. He merely stared at him, and Pellin did not mind since he already expected such a response from Simon.

"This is a parasite called the human-faced centipede."

Simon raised a brow, and his expression said- "No shit, Sherlock."

"This human-faced centipede loves to eat the beating heart of a demon. Once it’s not in the vicinity of a beating demon heart, it would hibernate and won’t move a single muscle. Somebody might even think it’s dead."

Simon stared at the human-faced centipede, and sure enough, Pellin was right. The centipede was not moving, and even the eyes on it’s horrifying face were closed.

"These little demons are actually feared by every demon that knows about it... even Demon Lords."

Simon looked at Pellin with a slight furrow of his brows. He couldn’t speak, but Pellin understand what his expression meant.

Disbelief.

"Hahahaha. You’re in disbelief, right? How could Demon Lords fear this tiny little thing?"

Pellin began to open the jar, and Simon felt his heartbeat quicken.

"Well, the thing is that... For demons who know about this little creature, don’t call it a human-faced centipede. We call it a Soul Eating Centipede. Because..."

Pellin brought out the centipede and brought it close to Simon’s right ear.

Simon’s eyes which were blank and not full of any emotion shook violently. His instincts screamed at him to not allow this insect which even some demons regarded as vile and evil, to enter his ear.

"... When this beautiful little thing enters your body, it would chew its way into your heart, and every single bite of this thing feels like a part of your soul is being ripped out in the most cruel manner."

"I promise you, I’m not exaggerating, even Demon Lords want nothing to do this creature. But a Demon Lord can use their demonic energy to kill the insect before it gets to his or her heart."

"But you... you have not even awakened your demon heart, so how could you possibly kill this beautiful and lovely insect."

As Pellin whispered into his ear, Simon’s body trembled slightly because every instinct in his body was warning him against the human-faced centipede.

Simon could feel that it was more or less coming from his bloodline, and not just him.

’What in the world is this damned thing?’ Simon gritted his teeth as he stared at the human-faced centipede which was still dormant and unmoving.

"I’m giving you one last chance, kid. Where is the blood essence? Tell me where it is and you won’t be scarred for life by the human-faced centipede."

"I’ve told you so many times before. I don’t know where it is and I don’t have it!"

Simon forced himself to shout, and Pellin looked at him with narrowed eyes before chuckling softly.

"We’ll see about that."

Without saying anything else, Pellin placed the human-faced centipede in his ear.

"Stop. Just stop. Is it not enough? I already told you I don’t have it or know where it is for fuck sake."

"Just fucking remove it. Fucking remove it!"

As Simon spoke and cursed with what little energy he had left, the centipede suddenly stirred.

It sensed Simon’s demon heart, and although it was unawakened, it was still the heart of a demon and it had not eaten for a long time.

"Wahhhh!!!"

The sound a baby wailing resounded in Simon’s mind and ears as the centipede rose. Simon’s entire body trembled, then the centipede crawled into his body through his ears.

At first, there was no pain. The only thing Simon was discomfort as he could feel the centipede moving slowly and calmly in his body.

But then... the pain came as Simon felt like a part of his mouth was being sliced open by a serrated knife.

"ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

Pellin had not lied, the pain he was feeling was a thousand times worse than every single thing the pig had done to him.

It felt like a piece of his soul had just been torn off, and the pain was so much that he felt like dying right in that moment.

But there was no moment of rest for him.

"ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

He just kept on screaming and screaming as the centipede slowly crawled through his body and chewed on any obstacle that was in its way.

His screams were so loud that it nearly escaped the prison itself, but these screams were like music to Pellin’s ears.

Clang!

Clang!

"AAARRRRGGGHHH!!!"

"STOP! STOP! STOPPPPPP!!!!!"

"I DON’T KNOW WHERE IT IS! I DON’T FUCKING KNOW WHERE IT IS!!!!"

"AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!"

"I’M NOT WITH IT! I DON’T HAVE IT! I DON’T- AARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!"

"STOOOPPPPPPP!!!!!"

Simon shook, twisted, bent, kicked, roared, curled, and made so many movements in the span of a minute, but Pellin merely hummed in excitement and ecstasy.

Simon’s screams continued for nearly six minutes, then Pellin tapped several acupoints on Simon’s body, completely restricting the movement of the human-faced centipede.

He stood in front of Simon and raised his head by the chin.

"Where is the blood essence?"

Simon stared into Pellin’s eyes with an unfocused gaze, and at completely random times, there was a flicker of a completely strange and unknown emotion in Simon’s eyes.

Pa Pa Pa

"I said, where is the blood essence?"

Simon’s gaze became slightly focused, then he said slowly and with immense difficulty.

"I... don’t... know."

Pellin frowned deeply. He stared at Simon for some seconds before letting go of his head. He was about to allow the human-faced centipede to roam free, but then a voice drifted into his ears from behind him.

"That’s enough."
