The Broken Halo-Chapter 276: The Traitorous Fallen Hero
"You can also stay here for as long as you like, and if you decide to sleep with me, I can give you a twenty percent (20%) discount."
Simon immediately sneered inwardly the moment he heard the words of the purple succubus.
If he was a horny teenager...
In fact, no.
If he was a normal teenager, he would be tempted by those words.
Although one could not see her face, very few would mind.
Her body, voice, and seductive aura was more than enough for any man’s mind to run wild.
Unfortunately for the librarian, he knew a lot about succubus, and sleeping with a succubus that was stronger than him would bring about more harm than benefits for him.
"Thank you, but I can pay the full cost." He rejected her with a slight smile behind his mask.
The purple succubus lowered her arms and nonchalantly shrugged.
"That’s too bad. I could have given you a wonderful time and experience. It’d be something you’ll never forget." She said with a charming and soft voice.
Simon smiled with a light tilt of his head.
"Believe me, I don’t doubt that."
And Simon was not lying when he said this.
He had seen firsthand what sleeping with a succubus could do to a man, and he had no desire to be a victim.
The librarian was surprised and taken aback, she hadn’t expected Simon to actually agree with her words.
She thought he’d doubt her or was ignorant about what she could give him in bed. If he was ignorant, then she could use that to her advantage and manipulate him to sleep with her.
Unfortunately for her, Simon was not ignorant.
"Hmm."
She hummed softly, then she released a regretful sigh.
"You’re weak, but your aura, smell, and appearance are very appealing to me. What a shame."
Simon remained silent for a moment, then he spoke.
"Can I pay the entrance fee?"
The librarian blinked.
"Wow. You have to be, maybe, the first ever person to be completely uninterested in me. You didn’t even stare at my body for like three seconds."
"Am I not your type?"
Simon released a frustrated sigh.
"See, maybe it’s because I have a limited time before my next class and I want to make the best use of it."
He really had the urge to be cold and completely disrespectful to the purple succubus, but he knew that this would not be good for him.
Succubus were petty demons, and if he got on her bad side, then it would just make his life unnecessarily difficult in the library.
The library was the one place he didn’t want to cause a scene.
Knowledge was important after all.
Unfortunately for him, it seemed that not showing any bit of interest in the purple succubus caused her to be more interested in him.
The purple succubus looked at Simon from up to down, then she licked her lips.
Her longue curved tongue stretched out of the mouth hole as she did this, and many men would immediately have lustful thoughts.
"Interesting. You can pay the entrance fee by placing your hand there." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
She gestured at a handprint on the counter, and Simon nodded.
He placed his right hand on the handprint, then a black glow was emitted from his Grave Mark and the hand print.
His merits were deducted, bringing it to a total of six thousand, four hundred and thirty (6,430) merits.
Demonic scripts appeared in front of the librarian, and she glanced at it with an uninterested gaze.
But in the next moment, she frowned and looked back at the demonic scripts.
"Huh? Thirty merits? That shouldn’t be... wait..."
Her eyes suddenly widened slightly, then she looked at Simon in disbelief.
"... You’re a slave?"
Simon raised a brow. "Yes. Is that a problem?"
The librarian blinked three times in disbelief and surprise.
"Seriously? But... you’re too...different from the slaves I’ve met. And I’ve never seen a slave that chooses to spend their merits on books."
Simon released a sigh of annoyance. He was about to reach his limits when it came to this succubus.
"Can you just confirm the transaction? You’re wasting my time."
She blinked, furrowed her brows in thought, then looked at the demonic scripts.
"Hmm... Broken Halo, huh."
Simon’s right eye instantly twitched.
He immediately had a bad premonition that the library might soon become a place he’d dread coming to.
The purple succubus gave him a glance, then she swiped her hand at the demonic scripts.
"Alright, you can enter. You can check your Grave Mark for a map of the library."
"Oh yeah, don’t bother taking any stairs that lead downward, the books there are for the Second Years or for Archfiends."
"Only the first level of the library is available to you."
Her lips curled into a smile after speaking, and Simon immediately removed his hand and walked away.
After taking three steps, she spoke.
"My name is Ari by the way."
A shiver spread across his body, and his pace quickened ever so slightly.
Why must he always attract attention even when he wanted to lay low?
Simon shook his head slightly, ignoring the stares of the Initiates who heard his conversation with Ari.
He could literally feel their dripping jealousy.
But as usual, he ignored them.
He sent his intentions into his Grave Mark, and a second later, the map of the library appeared in his mind.
He followed the map and went to the history section of the library.
He stood before a shelf, then he began to look for a book on the First Great War between him and the Demon King of Death.
Because of everything that had been happening ever since he arrived in the academy, he didn’t have the time to go to the library.
He had been flying blind when it came to the current demon realm.
His knowledge was not sufficient, and he it was about time he had an idea of what happened after his death.
After scanning the shelf for nearly a minute, he finally found a book, but its title made Simon frown.
"The First Great War between the Demon King of Death and the traitorous fallen hero."
