The Broken Halo-Chapter 193: Bastard
Simon’s eyes shined brightly when he heard her response to his question. When he asked, he was not expecting much so as to not be greatly disappointed, but shockingly, Lilith knew how to evolve his demon bloodline into a daemon bloodline.
He was excited and also relieved since this would easily solve one of the concerns he had.
Without hesitation, he asked.
[How do I evolve my one-horned demon bloodline into a daemon’s bloodline?]
[Give me a suitable physical body and I can easily do it for you.]
"..."
Simon had a deadpan expression, and he remained silent.
There were several issues with what she suggested, and the biggest was the issue of finding a suitable body for her.
She was a Daemon, and Simon had a feeling that the number of Daemons in the demon realm was less than 1% or at most, 1% of the total demon realm population.
Now, finding a suitable body for a unique Daemon like Lilith amongst this 1% was going to be a horrendous task.
And then there was the issue of trust.
Simon had trust issues, and there was absolutely no way he was going to get a body for Lilith when he had absolutely no trust in her.
When he knew very little about her.
Who knew what she was going to do to him if he ever got a body and he was still so weak.
Simon released a soft sigh and his expression became indifferent.
[If that’s the only way, then forget about it.]
Lilith chuckled softly.
[I’m just playing with you. That’s obviously not the only way, but if I awaken your Daemon bloodline for you, it’ll cost you nothing compared to the other methods.]
[If you’ve been observing me since I was in that cave, then you should have an idea about the type of person I am. If you’re not going to tell me the other methods, then forget about getting a physical body anytime soon. I don’t trust you and I don’t know you.]
Simon said with a cold tone, and Lilith chuckled softly.
[I don’t know what you went through, but I doubt you’d ever be able to trust somebody. After all, you killed that child with the Shadow Monarch’s bloodline even when he trusted you.]
Simon frowned.
[Shadow Monarch’s bloodline? What’s that?]
Lilith chuckled as she could feel the anxiety and tenseness in Simon’s heart and body.
[Oh. You didn’t know?]
[Speak, Lilith.] Simon growled, he had a sinking feeling in his guts for some reason.
Lilith’s mischievous chuckle echoed in Simon’s mind, and his expression became uglier with every passing second.
[Lilith.] He growled once again in annoyance and anger.
[Fine. Fine. I’ll tell you. The child you killed was actually a Daemon. You could even call him a descendant of a Royal Daemon... The Shadow Monarch.]
Simon’s expression became extremely solemn the moment he heard this, and several things he assumed or was confused about were instantly answered by Lilith’s words.
[Is the bloodline ranking system of Daemons different or the same as that of demons?]
[Yes and no. You can say that Daemons are the original demons and demons are the diluted and weaker versions of Daemons.]
[There’s nothing like a Lesser Daemon bloodline or a Common Daemon bloodline. The bloodline of a Daemon is extremely unique and powerful, and only the Royal bloodline of a demon comes a little bit close to the weaker Daemons.]
[We Daemons never ranked our bloodlines, but there were Daemons who were far more powerful than the others and the Shadow Monarch was one of the strongest Daemons during his prime. We sometimes refer to these Daemons as royals.]
The gears in Simon’s mind turned as he pondered on everything Lilith told him.
[Is Thorgan dead? Or is he still alive because of his bloodline?]
Lilith chuckled softly once again.
[If you had not used the Chaos Blade to kill him, he would still be alive even if you destroyed his heart or cut off his head. Killing Daemons with the Shadow Monarch’s bloodline is not an easy feat.]
The moment Simon heard this, he exhaled a deep breath of relief, and the weight on him instantly vanished.
This was what he was truly worried about.
If Lilith told him that Thorgan was still alive, then he would try his possible best to escape the Shadowgrave Clan because he could die at any point in time.
But since he was dead, then Simon did not care about the fact that Thorgan actually had a powerful Daemon’s bloodline in him.
He was dead, and that was all that mattered to Simon.
[Why is it different if I kill using the Chaos Blade compared to other methods? What does the Chaos Blade do?]
This was something Simon needed to know because it was strange hearing that killing with the Chaos Blade was different from killing with other means.
[When you kill a demon using the Chaos Blade, you’re also destroying their Chaos Flame. The Chaos Blade absorbs a portion of a demon’s Chaos Flame whenever you kill a demon, and this prevents any demon from resurrecting because a demon’s Chaos Flame is everything to a demon.]
[Once you destroy a demon’s Chaos Flame, that demon would instantly die.]
Simon furrowed his brows as he pondered on a few things Lilith said.
’The Chaos Blade absorbs a portion of a demon’s chaos flame? Is it the same thing for a Daemon? Would it prevent Devour from being able to consume a demon or daemon’s chaos flame in the future?’
’And what about humans, demi-gods, and gods? What effect does it have on them?’
Although Simon had these questions, he decided to ask them or find out later in the future.
However, he felt more assured after hearing that the Chaos Blade could even kill demons that could resurrect.
[I have another question.]
Lilith scoffed.
[You should be a girl instead of a boy. You usually have so many questions.]
[That’s because I’m talking to an ancient being who knows more than I do.]
Simon said with a tinge of sarcasm in his tone, and Lilith snarled dangerously.
[Did you just call me old?]
Simon’s lips curled up slightly. [No. I was praising you for your unfathomable and ancient depth of knowledge.]
[You bastard. You’re indirectly calling me old again!]
Simon shook his head, but his lips curled up the more behind his mask.
[I promise you, I’m not.]
[Bastard.]
