Chapter 376: Awakening

"Don’t be in so much hurry, Em. Finish your juice first." Annika caught Emily before the latter could sneak out and the grown she let out made all her brothers chuckle.

"Emy! You can’t fool mommy." Claire shouted from where she was sitting next to Daniel at the dining table with a glass of milk in her hands. The girl looked cute in her warm blue pajamas that had bunnies drawn all over it.

"I’m starting to believe you," Emily replied as she returned to her seat and picked up the glass of orange juice. She noticed Annika’s eyes fixed on her and immediately took a big sip and smiled warmly at her sister-in-law who had become more like a mother figure ever since she married Daniel a few weeks ago.

"Finally someone can tame her," Mark commented as he ruffled her hair, making Emily groan loudly.

"Whom are you talking about? I’m the most tamed person among the seven of us. Talk about yourself. You still have to clean your room and the gaming room today. Don’t think you can get away with it this time." She quickly punched back at her brother.

"Em is right, Mark. Make sure to clean both rooms before I return from work this evening. And Crist, make sure to pick up Claire from her school."

Both the men shouted a positive response which brought identical smiles on Domenic and Daniel’s lips. Little did they know that Annika would be able to tame everyone in the house so easily, something the two of them always found hard to do.

Finishing the juice, Emily set the dirty glass in the sink. "I will do the dishes tonight but I will be slightly late for dinner. I have an important business meeting in a few hours and then I have to train with Aleron." She informed everyone before she headed out of the dining room after giving Claire a sweet peck on her cheek.

She found Shadow in the drawing room and the two headed out together.

Emily focused intently as she stood in the clearing, her three familiars circling her with fluid grace. She had started training with her the three full-grown white spirit foxes for a while by now and she did realize how good of a team the four of them made.

Aleron watched her with a keen eye, his expression a mix of pride and concern. While she had become so much better at wielding her powers compared to the past, she had been facing problems for a few days every time she tried to wield a very powerful spell.

"Focus, Emily," Aleron encouraged. "Let the magic flow through you."

Emily nodded, her brow furrowed in concentration. She extended her hands, palms glowing with ethereal energy, and attempted to channel another powerful spell. But as she did, a surge of raw power coursed through her, causing her to stagger backward.

"What’s happening?" Emily gasped, her voice laced with panic as she felt the head that started from the pit of her belly but was quickly growing.

Her familiars whimpered, sensing her distress, while Aleron’s eyes widened in alarm. Shadow, who had been silently observing the training from the sidelines, stepped forward, his brows furrowed in concern as he let out his powers to sense what was going on with Emily.

"Something’s wrong," he remarked, his voice filled with concern.

Before anyone could react, another wave of energy surged through Emily, causing her to cry out in agony. Her body trembled uncontrollably as her powers spiraled out of control.

"We need to help her," Aleron declared, rushing to Emily’s side at the same time Shadow did.

But before either of them could reach her, a blinding burst of energy erupted from Emily, illuminating the clearing with its brilliance. The air crackled with magic as Emily broke through the barriers of magic, her powers finally coming into full fruition after years of training and hard work.

Minutes stretched into eternity as Emily wrestled with the overwhelming surge of power coursing through her veins.

"Her powers are getting out of control. We need to balance them." Aleron shouted in alarm as he let his own powers surge out and reach Emily to help her. Shadow did the same. The two men worked in tandem, their combined efforts aimed at helping Emily regain control.

"You can do this, Princess," Shadow urged, his voice a steady anchor amidst the chaos.

With every ounce of strength she possessed, Emily focused her will, harnessing the torrent of magic within her. Slowly but surely, the tempest subsided, leaving behind a sense of calm and clarity.

As the last echoes of energy faded away, Emily collapsed to her knees, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Aleron and Shadow knelt beside her, their presence a comforting reassurance.

"You did it," Aleron said softly, pride shining in his eyes.

Emily looked up at him, her gaze shimmering with newfound resolve. "I couldn’t have done it without your guidance." The moment she finished speaking, she found herself pulled into a very familiar embrace.

"You scared me there for a minute, Princess," Shadow whispered as he tightened his hold on her and pulled her closer to him.

Emily immediately wrapped her arms around him and allowed her body to relax in his warm embrace. Aleron smiled at them before he stood up. "I will take my leave. Have a good rest tonight, Emily."

Emily nodded her head in understanding but then noticed Aleron’s expression becoming serious. The Fae King turned his attention toward Shadow and spoke, "It was such a powerful magical outburst, many would have noticed it. Be careful."

Shadow pulled out of the hug and his expression also turned serious. He gace his friend a nod before he helped Emily to her feet. "We need to get going, Princess." He spoke and Emily immediately nodded her head. She didn’t need either of the men to voice the words out loud. She knew exactly what was troubling them... and her.
