Chapter 11 - 11: Jubbah

[Fact about Jubbah City (If you a historian!) : Jubbah lies on an ancient lake bed (paleolake) that measures at least 20 km by 4 km with its full extent concealed beneath wind-swept sand on its northern, southern and eastern boundaries. The exposed part of the paleolake lies downwind of the mountain of Jebel Umm Sanman to the west, which has diverted the westerly flow of sand around it, leaving a sand-free depression that filled with water during past humid periods. Several archaeological sites of human settlement from the Middle Paleolithic period were found around the margin of the paleolake. Stone artifacts found at these sites are pertinent to ongoing debates about the timing, nature and routes of Late Pleistocene human migrations.]

The sun rises early in the desert, the ray of sunlight was kissing Amina's lips. Black Shadow could not miss the opportunity to watch her as she was sleeping like a baby.

"Such a innocent girl, she looks like an angel." Black Shadow though in his head.

There was a scorpion that was nearing to Amina's bed so he had to do something without waking her up. If she wakes up and finds him she will think that he is a sex pervert.

Instead he came close to her silently and held the scorpion with its venomous tail, the scorpion stared to bite him with its sharp claws which is painful but not venomous as its tail. He grabs the scorpion and rips it in half.

While he looks back at Amina, she smiles back and says, "Black Shadow, are you done with the scorpion?"

Black Shadow smiles back at her and says, "Good morning."

"What are the plan for today?" – Amina asks Black Shadow folding the carpets.

"Amina, We need to catch Hakim and his guards. How do we go there?"

"I am not so sure but we can go to someone who might be able to help us. This place is southeast from here, It's called Jubbah. We will be there within two days if we take Camel."- Amina replied looking at Black Shadow.

"How do you know this place? I thought you are not from here." -Black Shadow with his eyes inspecting his fingers for the bite of Scorpion.

Amina washes Black Shadow's hand the wounded are with fresh water and applied some herbal medicine. Then she says, "I went there. Fatema took me there, she told me, it was the nearest place where she lives."

"Why we are going to Fatema's place? Is not Fatema is with Hakim? I am bit confused!"- Black Shadow frustrated with the answer.

Amina continued, "Don't worry, all things will be clear when we go there, but now we need to find a man in Jubbah. Well there is man we need to find. His name is Anwar Zuad. He will help us, I believe so. Fatema told me that she had learned her skills from Anwar. Anwar is the most skilled wizard in this part. Fatema and his father chained him and kept him hidden in a small house is Jubbah, we need to go there and find him."

"So, we must go to there."

"We need to go there in disguises or dressed as the locals, Hakim may have his army protecting that area."- Amina told Black Shadow.

"How will we get some local dresses? We don't see any market nearby!"- Black Shadow joked at Amina.

"There are dresses with Nadim and Fatema's tents. We could use them."

Black Shadow and Amina changed their clothes, they both wore the dressed of the locals. Black Shadow took a long sleeve gown like dress from the old man's bag. It had simple design but looked expensive. Amina came back earing a long cloak covering her entire body. It had vail, she also had abya over all over the clothes that has designed with flowers.

The Black Shadow took the camels and caravan. Their journey began at night. The moon light was shining the path, they headed for northeast.

"How do we track northeast?"- Black Shadow asked Amina.

"I know, we can follow the starts. I know this skill. My father has taught me." Saying this Amina feeling depressed remembering her father killed by Hakim. We had a great loving family. I use to play with my sisters. My brothers were very afraid of my father and he would scold them for any mischief. But baba never scold me, he used to show me stars at the night sky."

Tears filled up with Amina's eyes.

"I believe my parents have become the starts, shining in the bright sky."- Amina's voice became soft.

Black Shadow looked at the bright sky. He said, "wow. Look Amina, the sky is looking so amazing."

Their journey continued towards Jubbah. They headed for Jubbah to look for the wizard named Anwar Zuad. After crossing the vast desert and endless land of sands finally they have reached there. It took them nearly three days to reach at Jubbah. There are strange mountain rocks surrounding this area in to the entrance of the city. There are some green grasses and cactus trees grown in this Rocky Mountains.

"At last good to see some life."- The Black Shadow said with a smirk in his face.

Heading east the mountain it's the entrance towards the city of Jubbah. This city is relatively small but looks beautiful. Inside the city there are some agricultural land and water sources. Which is rare particularly in this part. There are large sand stones curved all over the places. Some of these rock carving were depicted various animals and people. One of the stones that curved almost was very know to him. Black Shadow has seen this face somewhere, but he could not recall. The city looked small but it looked beautiful.

The houses are made of mud and carved stones. But still looks so strong and beautiful. It is filled with various markets. These are people with small carts selling various items. People were selling carpets, foods, dried fruits, grains, clothes, jewels. The place is buzzing with people. So many people probably people from different place has gathered to buy and sell things.
