The Billionaire's Rental Wife Is A Hot Shot-Chapter 81: The Real Witch
Chapter 81: The Real Witch
Elias felt like being harshly slapped with a bucket of ice water, his mouth wide open in shock. No, his mother was mean but she wouldn’t go to the lengths of tarnishing someone’s life. Or would she?
"Is..." Elias looked at Evelyn, his voice coming out in a small murmur, "Is it true?" No matter what the reports say she was still his annoying but precious sister, and he wouldn’t tolerate anyone hurting her, even if it’s his mother.
Evelyn sighed out loud, silently glaring at Annabelle who was now standing beside her. Slowly she nodded, not having the noble heart to cover up for Sophia’s sins in front of her son.
"She will pay for it!" Elias declared, his hands clenched tightly into fists. Heaving a hot breath, he turned around to walk back to the ward, all set to open her hideous crimes in front of William and make her beg forgiveness on her knees. But Evelyn grabbed him and stopped him.
"You can’t, Eli. Da... William is still recovering, he had enough already. Let him have some peace of mind." Evelyn babbled, knowing it was not the right time to start Sophia’s downfall. In fact, it didn’t matter anymore.
"But she ruined you completely, sis! She brought a fake daughter and fucking destroyed your engagement and even went to the lengths of marrying you to an old junky bastard!" Elias vented out, trying to free himself from his sister’s grip. Teenage anger was worse of all and Evelyn could feel it in the way Elias rashly pushed her away.
"Elias!" Evelyn grabbed onto him again, and luckily Zevian walked into the scene. He quickly passed Kiana to Avery and rushed to support Evelyn.
"Are you okay?"
Evelyn nodded and grabbed Elias again, this time even Zevian helped her, stopping the hulk from leaving the corridor. Kiana pouted and hugged Avery tightly, flinching seeing her parents trying to hold her Hulk uncle.
"Calm down!" Zevian glowered at Elias, holding his shoulder and pinning him to the wall. Evelyn sighed as Zevian managed to stop him from reaching the ward and grabbing her brother’s hand, she dragged him to the narrow corridor again.
"I am boiling more than you deep inside and you like it or not, I want to rip her apart too, to show everyone what she did to me, how she made me suffer all these months, but it doesn’t matter anymore!" Evelyn expressed out, her emotions spiraling out.
"I-I am not his daughter, Elias. I don’t belong to this family at all. I... I was just brought to replace their dead daughter. Do you get that?" Evelyn continued, hot tears trickling down her face.
Elias’s anger melted away, regret filling his eyes that he had missed such an important detail, of what his sister might have been feeling after this cruel revelation. "I I am sorry." He mumbled, reaching out to hug Evelyn.
Zevian and Avery sighed seeing them reconcile, partly guessing what might have happened before their arrival. Annabelle simply clicked her tongue, missing to see Sophia Snake getting doomed by her son.
Evelyn controlled her emotions and slowly broke the hug. Wiping away her tears, she held onto his hand and tried to be considerate, "I won’t stop or ask you to forgive her, it’s entirely your decision. But what I could convince myself is she was just desperate to save her family’s powers getting into a stranger’s hand."
Elias shook his head, his anger boiling within again as that would never justify the shit his mom made Evelyn go through.
"I am still an outsider even if William or anyone else never planned to tell the world, Eli. And she is after all his wife and you are their only son, the only heir of this generation. And as a mother, she wanted to snatch away from me what I was deluding to be mine all these years," Caressing his hand, Evelyn continued, "which was yours."
"Don’t talk like you are going to be a stranger from today," Elias grumbled, her words pricking his heart. "Relationships are not made just by blood, and you know Grandma, Dad, and Gracia loved you. And I love you more than them, no matter what you are my sister and always be."
A small smile broke onto Evelyn’s face and she nodded. "True, you can’t get rid of me or my nagging that easily."
Avery smiled seeing Elias acting so mature and wise. Indeed, they have raised a good kid! She mused, having taken care of this stubborn boy since childhood.
"But I will not stay quiet about it. Once Dad recovers, we will be telling everything to him." Elias declared, his eyes moving to Annabelle behind Evelyn. "And also kicking out this voodoo doll." He added, gritting his teeth.
"Oh, calm down! I will be leaving myself anyway," Annabelle retorted, sticking her tongue out at Elias.
Evelyn smiled softly at their bickering and continued, "And once he recovers, you will take over the company. I heard that your mom has plans to announce it on your birthday, let’s just go with it."
Elias wanted to retort but nodded with a sigh. Now that Evelyn had decided to not take over the company unlike her past resolution, and also knowing working here would hurt her more, he needed to go with it.
"And don’t worry, we all are here to help you out. William will still be the CEO until you are prepared and ready for it." Evelyn added, realizing his 18th birthday was just a month away and it was freaking her little puppy. "You just need to handle the major project with Zevian, they will look after the rest."
Elias nodded leaving another sigh. He was forced to prepare for it for a long, sitting and taking classes with Evelyn since young but it was still horrific.
Kiana blinked and looked at the elders silently standing in the corridor. "Are we done fighting?" She innocently asked, her eyes focusing on her mother and Hulk uncle.
"We were just talking, sweetie," Evelyn replied with a small smile and Elias nodded in agreement.
"Yay!" Kiana gingerly clapped her hand and exclaimed, "Let’s go spend time with my new grandpa. I have a lot of business talks to do with him."
Everyone chuckled at her excitement, finding it odd that a four-year kid has business talks with William. She was after all Zevian’s kid and must have learnt from the iceberg himself.
"Alright, let’s go!" Avery said, pinching Kiana’s nose. And everyone walked toward William’s ward.
"You okay?" Zevian asked in a low voice, and Evelyn nodded, heaving a small sigh.
Elias stepped aside, allowing Evelyn to lead the group toward William’s ward. He still felt the burning rage in his veins, but his sister’s calm demeanor soothed him enough to focus on what truly mattered right now—William’s recovery and the truth, which would eventually surface.
They entered the room to find William sitting up in bed, looking much better than before. His face brightened as he saw them approach, especially when Kiana bolted to his side, her small hands tugging at his sleeve.
"Grandpa!" Kiana chirped, her innocent voice filling the room. "Can I sit here?"
William smiled warmly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Of course, sweetheart. Come sit next to me."
He shifted slightly, making room for Kiana beside him. The little girl eagerly climbed up, her legs dangling off the bed as she snuggled close to him. The rest of the group, including Evelyn and Zevian, gathered around, a soft calm settling over the room. For a moment, it felt like everything was at peace.
Kiana, her curiosity never-ending, leaned against William and looked up with bright, inquisitive eyes. "Grandpa, how did you build your company? Was it very hard?"
William chuckled, ruffling her hair gently. "It wasn’t easy, Kiana, but with a lot of hard work and patience, I made it grow."
Kiana’s eyes sparkled as she nodded and kept questioning further. The room felt warm, filled with the lightness of family and love. But the tension was still palpable, especially with Sophia standing quietly in the corner, her presence a heavy shadow among them.
Kiana’s eyes drifted, landing on the woman beside William. Her face scrunched up slightly, curious and confused. She blinked a few times, then pointed a small finger toward Sophia.
"Grandpa," she asked, her voice curious but direct, "who is she?"
William’s smile faltered slightly, but he responded calmly. "That’s my wife, Kiana."
Kiana frowned, her little brows knitting together. She stared intently at Sophia, who forced a strained smile under the child’s gaze. The room quieted, everyone waiting for Kiana’s next words.
Her pout deepened, and then she turned to Avery with wide, serious eyes. "Is she the one?"
Avery blinked, confused by the question. "Who, sweetie?"
"The witch from sleeping beauty!" Kiana declared confidently, her voice rising slightly. "Like the stepmom in Cinderella who bullies my mommy."
Avery’s face drained of color, her mouth opening and closing in silent panic as she looked at Evelyn. Everyone froze, a tension rippling through the room like a crack in the air.
"Kiana—" Avery started, but the words stuck in her throat.
Kiana, oblivious to the tension around her, pressed on, her small voice unwavering. "She’s the one, right? The one who brought this fake daughter to bully Mommy and take away her daddy." The girl revealed, pointing directly at Annabelle.
