The Billionaire's Rental Wife Is A Hot Shot-Chapter 37: Burying Alive
Chapter 37: Burying Alive
"I already applied it at home, don’t bother," Evelyn lied, not daring to turn around and face him. In response, Zevian’s grip on her wrist tightened, sending her heart into a frantic rhythm.
In a swift motion, he released her wrist, but before Evelyn could sigh in relief, his large hands settled on her shoulders, causing her breath to hitch. Her entire body tingled with electricity from the warmth of his palms. He gripped her shoulders and gently but firmly guided her to sit down.
Zevian’s intentions were clear; it was only fair for her to endure the same torture he had felt under her touch. The way her fingers had lingered on his muscles, he knew she had enjoyed it, and he wasn’t about to let her off easily.
Evelyn wanted to flee, but her legs betrayed her. Her mind was a whirlwind, torn between escaping and staying, her rational thoughts overridden by the tempted devil in her mind. With a resigned sigh, she turned and laid on the beach chair.
Her mind drifted back to their first summer vacation together, where a similar situation had ended in a heated make-out session. The color on her cheeks grew even redder at the memory of that night, recalling how Zevian had carried her back to the room, kissing every forbidden part of her body, leaving her breathless and aching for more.
Evelyn was pulled to the present when Zevian untied the only strap protecting her modesty. Her hands instinctively reached to hold the bra in place, clutching it tightly in anticipation.
A shiver ran down Evelyn’s spine as Zevian’s fingers settled on her bare back. The cool sunscreen did little to mask the warmth of his touch, igniting sparks wherever his fingers roamed. Evelyn bit the inside of her lip as he smoothed the lotion over her skin, tracing the contours of her back with deliberate slowness. Unlike her hesitant touch, he meticulously covered every inch of her back, sending heat rushing between her legs.
When his hand dipped even lower, tracing the line of her waist, inching closer to the transparent skirt that barely covered her, Evelyn couldn’t bear it anymore. She hastily sat up and turned around to leave, but met his eyes. Their gazes locked, and her treacherous eyes traveled to his lips, sending crazy messages to her mind.
Both knew what was happening, the unspoken desire crackling between them, but neither was ready to take the first step. Evelyn bit her lower lip, every inch of her body screamed at her to kiss him, to surrender to the moment and forget everything else. Hesitant but longing, she leaned forward, her eyes meeting his as if seeking permission.
Zevian’s last thread of control snapped at her action, his heart beating loudly. He mirrored her movement and bent down, their lips just an inch apart before meeting in a small but fiery peck.
"Mommy! Daddy! Come! Let’s play in the water!" Kiana’s delighted scream brought them crashing back to reality. They instantly withdrew, the kiss abruptly broken and barely complete.
Avery, unlike the innocent Kiana who couldn’t see what had transpired beneath the umbrella’s shade, sighed and shook her head slightly. But it was still a small victory; she knew she had set the stage for something more.
"The strap," Zevian mumbled, hesitantly pointing at her bra. Evelyn realized she had almost released her grip, giving him a tantalizing view of her breasts.
Her cheeks didn’t need any more blush as they were now permanently red. Cursing herself in her head, she turned around to let him tie it.
Luckily, he was fast, and as soon as he was done, she dashed toward the beach, joining Kiana and Avery in the water.
A couple of minutes later, Zevian returned to the beach in a new pair of shorts. Evelyn could guess he had taken a cold shower from the way his hair was slightly wet and tousled.
Kiana ran to her father and pulled him into the water. They played together, Kiana’s giggles and screams whenever Zevian splashed her bringing a smile to Evelyn’s face.
Avery joined the father-daughter duo, joining hands with Kiana to help her beat her cousin. She pulled Evelyn into the fight, and the three women quickly attacked Zevian from all sides.
Agatha and two more maids, who had followed them to the beach, couldn’t help but smile. They stood beneath the shade of a palm tree, ready whenever the family needed help. However, the third maid, standing beside Agatha, was trembling to the core. She requested to join, claiming to never have been to the beach and Agatha agreed, unaware she was there to take Evelyn’s life.
After a while, Kiana got tired of playing, and the adults stopped. Evelyn picked up the little girl in her arms. They reached the chairs, and Kiana let her mommy cover her in a towel.
"I’m hungry," she mumbled, feeling her stomach grumble.
"Me too! Me too!" Avery said, walking to the pair. She picked up Kiana in her arms to take her inside, giving her friend another opportunity to finish what they hadn’t earlier.
"Enjoy," Avery smiled cheekily, making Evelyn flush with embarrassment. She wanted to join them, but Kiana insisted on staying to pick things until she was back so they could build a castle together.
"Yeah, take her to the garage. You’ll find the shovel and stuff there," Avery said innocently, earning a glare from her best friend.
Evelyn was forced to go with Zevian alone, the silence thick and awkward between them. When they reached the garage, completely secluded, her heart raced again, unsure of what Zevian might do.
"Wanna try surfing?" Zevian’s voice threw her out of her train of wild thoughts. She met his eyes and blinked, before following his gaze to the surfboards lined neatly.
Zevian was quite aware of her love for adventures, something they both shared in common, and he knew she wouldn’t reject it.
Evelyn nodded in excitement, lighting up Zevian’s face with a smile. He took two good boards and they quickly walked back to the beach, both bubbling with a thrill for the adventure.
Evelyn took off her wrap skirt, now just in her bikini, and followed him to the waves. They started slow on the beach; Evelyn had surfed a few times, unlike Zevian who was a pro at it. They began slowly, getting comfortable with the boards before taking on the strong waves.
The awkwardness from earlier quickly died down, replaced with their laughter and joy. They surfed together, sometimes clashing against the waves, sometimes against each other.
When Zevian felt a strong wave approaching, he turned to Evelyn and asked, "Wanna dual?" freeweɓnøvel.com
"Sure!" Evelyn nodded without hesitation, ready to challenge him, just like they often did while dating. It was also something that kept the fire burning in their relationship.
As the wave came, they started, both paddling with intensity. Zevian smoothly took the turn, riding the wave with ease. Evelyn tried to do the same but failed, ending up slipping off the board and falling into the water.
Her yelp caught Zevian’s attention, and his heart skipped a beat seeing her falling. Getting off his board, he quickly dived in her direction. Evelyn, who had come up, gasped for air, her hands reaching for the surfboard to keep herself afloat. When she felt Zevian reaching her, she quickly moved to him, hugging his neck tightly.
"Are you fine?" Zevian asked, concern evident in his voice.
Evelyn nodded, wiping her face and breathing out a few shaky gasps. They looked at each other, their expressions serious, before Zevian broke into a snicker, recalling how she had slipped.
"Stop it!" Evelyn warned him but ended up laughing with him, their adventure ending on a funny note.
The next few hours went according to Kiana’s demands. They took a couple of pictures, built a sandcastle with her, destroyed it, and watched the sunset, ticking off every wish on her list.
"I’ll put her to bed," Zevian said, taking Kiana, who was fast asleep in Evelyn’s arms as soon as they finished an early dinner arranged on the shore.
"You should both rest too," he added, and Evelyn nodded with a smile. Dragging the tired and drunken Avery to their room, she decided to change into comfortable clothes.
But as she reached her assigned room, she found only Avery’s bag. A maid walked in just then with warm tea on a tray.
"Agatha sent this herbal tea for you, Ma’am. This will keep you warm," the maid said, trying her best to stay calm. Evelyn took the glass with a smile and sipped it.
"Have you seen my bag?" she asked the maid, enjoying the tea.
The maid blinked, pretending to think before lying, "Oh, the staff must have missed it in the car." With an apologetic look, she continued,
"Can I go fetch it for you after tending to Miss Kiana? The other maids are busy cleaning outside, and Master ordered me to change her into warm clothes."
"Oh, no worries. I’ll get it myself," Evelyn said, not seeing through the maid’s act. Finishing her drink, she passed the glass and walked out.
Evelyn felt her mind growing heavy, attributing it to exhaustion. She shook her head, trying to clear the fog as she walked toward the car parked at a distance from the shore.
Suddenly, a tightness gripped her chest, making it hard to breathe. Her hand instinctively clutched her chest, her breaths coming in shallow gasps. Before she could understand what was happening, a sharp pain struck the back of her head. She crumpled to the ground, unconscious within seconds as the drug took effect.
When Evelyn slowly woke up almost an hour later, she felt herself being thrown onto cold, damp ground. Her vision was blurred and spinning. The last thing she saw was a shadowy figure methodically shoveling mud over her before she slipped back into unconsciousness, sinking into the suffocating darkness of the grave.
