The Billionaire's New Wife in Chief-Chapter 1074 - 461: Is Miss Qin Looking Down on Me?
The server standing at the door saw guests arriving and quickly opened the heavy glass door, politely asking, "Welcome, do you have a reservation?"
Song Qiao entered the restaurant and glanced around, but didn’t see Tan Shuya, so she looked at the server and showed a faint smile, replying, "I have an appointment with Miss Tan."
The server immediately understood, "Ah, Miss Song, Miss Tan is already waiting in the private room. Please follow me."
Song Qiao responded with a hum and followed behind the server in her high heels.
Tan Shuya had chosen a private room instead of sitting outside, which didn’t surprise her. Although she wasn’t very familiar with Tan Shuya, after yesterday, she had someone check into some information about her.
She found out that in the five years she’d been away, Lu Tianming had tried various ways to introduce Lu Jingchen to socialite daughters, wanting him to marry someone of equivalent social standing, or at least someone with some status and position, unlike her, Song Qiao.
And Tan Shuya had appeared the day she gave Lu Wangshu to Ning Wan to bring to Lu Jingchen, at Lu Tianming’s birthday banquet. Lu Tianming was very pleased with Tan Shuya, trying every way to make a match between her and Lu Jingchen, hoping they would marry. He even had Tan Shuya over at the Lu Family Mansion whenever Xu Qian and Lu Jingchen brought Lu Wangshu back, just to let his son get used to Tan Shuya first.
Unfortunately, Song Qiao knew that over the years, not only was Lu Jingchen single-mindedly focused, unable to see other women, but even their own son didn’t have any particularly good feelings toward Tan Shuya.
When she looked over the information last night, she didn’t know whether to laugh or not.
Anyway, she just wanted to laugh, and there was a bit of sweetness in her heart because she never expected Lu Jingchen to love her so much.
The private room was soon reached, and standing at the door, the server politely knocked. There was a few seconds of silence before a female voice said, "Come in."
The voice sounded quite pleasant; the nicest voice Song Qiao had ever heard was Ning Wan’s, followed by this one.
When she saw Tan Shuya at the Lu Family Mansion that day, she was so surprised by the stranger’s appearance and Lu Tianming’s attitude toward her that she hadn’t paid much attention to her voice. Now that her mind was calm, she found the voice quite melodious.
The private room door opened, and the server made an inviting gesture to Song Qiao.
Raising her feet and walking in directly, Song Qiao immediately saw Tan Shuya sitting there with her back straight, perfectly embodying a socialite’s manner.
The server closed the door behind them and left. Song Qiao’s gaze fell on Tan Shuya, and the two women’s eyes met directly, with neither avoiding the other.
With a slight curve of her lips, forming a faint smile, Song Qiao walked toward Tan Shuya and stood before her, cordially extending her hand, "Hello, Miss Tan, I’m Song Qiao."
Tan Shuya didn’t stand up; she remained seated, raising her eyes to look at Song Qiao but didn’t extend her hand. She spoke calmly, "I know. Have a seat, Miss Song."
While speaking, she gestured with her chin to the seat in front of her.
The private room had booth-style seating, with sofas on both sides and a rectangular glass table in the middle.
Song Qiao wasn’t embarrassed about being left hanging with the handshake; she casually withdrew her hand, shrugging her shoulders, and didn’t immediately sit down. Tilting her head to look at Tan Shuya, she wore a faint smile that didn’t reach her eyes and said, "Miss Tan seems to look down on my status."
Tan Shuya frowned, looking at Song Qiao in front of her. She could clearly hear the sarcasm in Song Qiao’s tone, and in truth, she really had no reason to look down on Song Qiao.
First, Song Qiao was once the eldest daughter of the Song Family.
Second, Song Qiao is now a well-known gold agent in the entertainment industry.
Third, Song Qiao’s sister, Song Xi, is a top-tier star domestically and might even win an actress award at this year’s film festival.
Lastly, Song Qiao is still Lu Jingchen’s wife, as they haven’t divorced.
Any of these identities indeed gave Tan Shuya no reason to look down on her, especially since the Tan Family was not what it used to be.
But, she only intended to give Tan Shuya a show of strength.
Looking at Song Qiao, Tan Shuya secretly bit her lip before speaking, "You know, just because you and Lu Jingchen haven’t divorced doesn’t mean I want to shake hands with you."
Song Qiao didn’t mind and smiled before speaking, "It’s obvious, Miss Tan really likes my husband."
The phrase ’my husband’ was like a thorn stabbing straight into Tan Shuya’s heart, causing her face to change.
Having known Lu Jingchen for so long, from the very first moment she met him, Tan Shuya had fallen in love with Lu Jingchen. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have steadfastly stayed by his side all this time. Yet her love also carried other motives; she wanted to obtain everything she desired through Lu Jingchen.
Taking a deep breath, Tan Shuya addressed Song Qiao, "You do realize, Miss Song, that despite your claim of being his wife, Mr. Lu has never acknowledged you as his daughter-in-law."
Song Qiao lowered her gaze, yet smiled indifferently, responding, "So what?"
Tan Shuya widened her eyes at her. Then she heard Song Qiao say with amusement in her tone, "You think Lu Jingchen loves me now, so what if Mr. Lu disagrees? On the contrary, Miss Tan, even if Mr. Lu is fond of you, Jingchen will never give you a second look. Compared to the two, I still win, don’t I?"
Song Qiao’s words hit Tan Shuya’s ears one by one, darkening her expression.
Because Song Qiao was undeniably right. Despite all her efforts, nearly losing her life for Lu Jingchen in the past, everything reverted to the starting point once Song Qiao returned.
