The Billionaire's New Wife in Chief-Chapter 1065 - 452: Call Me Brother
He had plenty of ways to make sure that little guy wouldn’t tell Lu Jingchen about Huanhuan’s existence.
Song Qiao looked at Chu Munan in front of her, and for some reason, despite her initial lack of confidence, she suddenly felt she should trust him.
After a while, she managed a smile and nodded, "Okay, I trust you."
"That’s the spirit." Chu Munan raised a hand to ruffle her hair, and in doing so, made her neatly tied hair look like a bird’s nest. After glancing at his handiwork, he quickly withdrew his hand, awkwardly cleared his throat, and then said, "You eat the noodles first; I’ll go in to check on the two little ones. When Lu Jingchen arrives, call us out."
Song Qiao let out a "hmm," "Okay."
When she went to a Chinese restaurant to eat with Ning Wan and the others, she hadn’t even picked up her chopsticks yet because she was too busy looking after Ning Wan. Just as she was about to start eating, she received a call from Lu Jingchen. Upon learning that Lu Wangshu was missing, she was more worried and anxious than anyone else and couldn’t possibly eat.
Now, smelling the aroma of scallions, and having eaten Chu Munan’s cooking before, knowing that he’s quite skilled, her stomach suddenly felt hungry.
While Song Qiao ate in the dining room, Chu Munan went to the kitchen to grab a plate of snacks, then turned and headed straight to Song Nianhuan’s room. As he reached the door, he raised his hand and knocked softly, his voice much gentler, "Huanhuan, open the door and let Uncle in."
Song Nianhuan’s voice immediately came from inside, "Uncle, do you have anything?"
Without changing expression, Chu Munan tempted, "Uncle made some snacks for you both, would you like some?"
Inside the bedroom, upon hearing Chu Munan mention snacks, Song Nianhuan’s eyes brightened. Holding a doll in her arms, she turned to Lu Wangshu, who was sitting straight-backed on the sofa, and said, "Hey, my uncle made snacks, do you want some? His snacks are so delicious, you’ll definitely want more after trying them."
Lu Wangshu withdrew his gaze from the door, looked over, and without changing his expression, corrected her, "Call me brother."
Song Nianhuan hesitated, fidgeted a bit, and finally, reluctantly said, "Brother..."
Lu Wangshu nodded in satisfaction, "Hmm, go and open the door."
Song Nianhuan immediately jumped off the bed and ran to the door. Because she wasn’t tall enough, she pulled over a chair to climb on. Climbing up, she reminded Chu Munan outside the door, "Uncle, I’m opening the door while standing on a chair, don’t push the door."
Chu Munan found it amusing but replied, "Got it, sweetheart, I promise I won’t push the door until you step aside."
A few seconds later, Chu Munan heard the lock click open. He didn’t push the door immediately but waited for the sound of the stool scraping against the floor to stop before raising his hand to push open the door.
Inside the room, Song Nianhuan stood at the door. As soon as Chu Munan opened it, he saw her eagerly eyeing the plate of snacks in his hand, almost drooling. He suppressed his urge to laugh, turned to close the door, and handed the snacks to Song Nianhuan, "Carefully hold this, don’t drop it, I only made this one batch today. If it falls, there won’t be more."
Song Nianhuan quickly took it with both hands and sweetly said, "Thanks, Uncle."
Walking into Song Nianhuan’s room, one would immediately find it a dreamy space, absolutely fit for a little princess.
Pink curtains, pink mosquito net, pink wardrobe and sofa, pink pillows and bedcover, and even a pink carpet; the walls were pink too... basically, except for the door and a few other dolls in the room, it was all pink.
Song Nianhuan carefully placed the snacks on the small tea table in front of the sofa, then picked up a piece from the plate and handed it to Lu Wangshu, "Try it, my Uncle made it."
Lu Wangshu didn’t take it immediately but looked up at Chu Munan.
Chu Munan noticed someone looking at him, glanced back at the little guy’s gaze, and shamelessly said, "Since you’re Huanhuan’s brother, technically, I’m your Uncle too. I held you when you were a baby."
He even remembered getting peed on by this little rascal back then.
Of course, he wouldn’t say that out loud.
Lu Wangshu withdrew his gaze and accepted the snack Song Nianhuan handed over, clearly stating his position.
Not calling it.
Chu Munan thought, "Why do I suddenly feel like this little guy is such a rascal?"
...
When Lu Jingchen arrived, Song Qiao had already finished her noodles, and Chu Munan was still inside Huanhuan’s room. However, when she went to the door earlier, she could still hear Huanhuan’s laughter from within.
The doorbell rang, and Song Qiao quickly stood up from the sofa, glanced at the door, and then briskly walked to Song Nianhuan’s room, tapping on the door. Without waiting for a reply from inside, she said, "Chu Munan, Lu Jingchen is here..."
Soon, a man’s voice came from inside, "Hmm, got it, ask Lu Jingchen to come in and wait, I’ll bring him out in a moment."
Though Song Qiao was still somewhat uneasy inside, she didn’t say much, "Okay, got it."
Composing her expression, she headed towards the door.
She opened the door, and her gaze met the man standing outside. The moment she saw Lu Jingchen’s face, Song Qiao was momentarily stunned; she hadn’t expected that even though it had been less than ten hours since they last met, the man looked somewhat haggard. This inexplicably unsettled her, especially when their eyes met.
Her lips moved, as if wanting to say something, but she ended up swallowing her words, instead saying, "Come in."
Lu Jingchen’s deep-set eyes stayed fixed on Song Qiao; he responded with a simple "hmm," and stepped inside.
He took a pair of slippers from the shoe cabinet. They were Ji Sifan’s, and she placed them in front of him, "There aren’t any new slippers, these were worn by Sifan. If you don’t mind, you can wear them."
Without a change in expression, the man switched shoes, then followed Song Qiao as she walked towards the living room.
She gestured with her chin towards the sofa, her face expressionless, and spoke blandly, "Have a seat first; Wangshu is playing in the living room, Munan will bring him out shortly... I’ll get you a glass of water."
Without waiting for a response or any acknowledgment from the man, she headed straight to the kitchen.
It felt somewhat like running away in haste.
