The Billionaire's Hidden Affection-Chapter 618 - 615: Proposal 2_1
A blue diamond, shimmering with iridescent colors and flawless to the naked eye, exuded a fairytale-like radiance under the light.
"Is it for me?"
He chuckled, picked up the ring, and personally placed it on her right ring finger. Against her fair, slender, and delicate fingers, the blue diamond appeared even more brilliant and beautiful.
"Cheapskate, why did you buy such an expensive gift?"
He grinned. "Do you like it?"
"I do like it."
But she was puzzled. "The gifts you gave me before weren’t this good."
Nonsense. How could anything I gave you before compare to this one in value? Before, a simple token was enough.
"I remember you’ve given me a few necklaces before. I thought they were already good enough, but compared to this, they’re nothing. Cheapskate, what do you mean by this?"
He coaxed gently, "In the past, if I gave something too expensive, I was afraid I’d end up losing both the gift and the girl, all for nothing."
So he’s not afraid of wasting money now?
She blinked mischievously. "What’s the reason for giving such an expensive gift?"
He put on a straight face. "What do you think?"
Looking thoroughly bewildered, she asked, "Is this a tip because I just pampered you so well?"
He chuckled heartily and grabbed her ear. "Go on, keep playing dumb."
She tilted her head. "If not, then what?!"
He cleared his throat a few times.
But she was relentless, asking in a soft, wheedling tone, "Cheapskate, what do you mean by this, huh?"
The man just chuckled awkwardly.
She grew impatient. Then, with a sudden impulse, she dropped to one knee. "Cheapskate, please marry me!"
Wan Donglin burst out laughing. He scooped her up and spun her around in the air several times, only stopping when she cried out, "I’m dizzy!" She was laughing so hard she could barely breathe.
"You’ve passed the exam, Xixi. Let’s find a time to get our marriage certificate."
She grumbled, "I thought you were deliberately dragging your feet to avoid responsibility."
He couldn’t help but laugh. "I mentioned it several times before, but you insisted we should wait until after the exam, remember? And now you’re blaming me?"
Her eyes widened. "Really? Did that happen? Wasn’t I just studying myself silly back then? That’s called... what is it again? Lacking ’capacity for civil conduct,’ understand?"
"And you have it now?"
"Of course."
He burst out laughing again, then handed her another item.
This time, she was truly clueless. What was this set of keys for?
He grinned. "You’re going to be studying in the United States for quite a while. I bought a house for you in Boston to make things more convenient."
Her eyes grew very wide.
He’s already bought a house?
"Cheapskate, you’re really going to spoil me like this."
He waved it off dismissively. "It’s not like I’m giving them to you for free. You get what you pay for. When a man invests a dollar, he expects to get a hundred back from you."
She said softly, "But what do I have to give back to you?"
"Silly girl, aren’t you going to bear my children? That’s the biggest return."
Her voice grew even softer. "Having children isn’t just for your benefit alone. Even if I have them, it’s for myself too..."
He said seriously, "Silly girl, that’s what you don’t understand."
She looked at him, bewildered.
TSK TSK TSK. "Nowadays, women have actually been made foolish by superficial feminists. Think about it. Yes, childbearing rights belong to women, and having children isn’t solely for men. Consequently, men use this as an excuse. They’ll say, ’You can choose whether or not to have kids. Don’t use selling your womb as an excuse to demand a dowry or alimony...’"
