The Billionaire Twins Need A New Mommy!-Chapter 672: Chuck The Quiet Savior
Later that morning...
Chuck’s face reddened as his sharp eyes scanned the dining area that served as their cafeteria in this place. The reason for his foul mood? The growing whispers and comments that were spreading among the members of the Order.
"Hey! If you’ve got something to say, say it to my face!" he roared, silencing the chatter in the room. "What?!"
Pushing himself up from his chair, he looked around aggressively. "You all seem to have a lot to say when I’m not looking, but now you’re mute?"
"No one’s mute," someone from the crowd shouted back. "We just find it odd that you were the loudest about the mission before it even started! And yet, you screwed things up and almost got everyone on your team killed!"
Another person snickered. "He kept saying the madam would just take the credit and stay behind, but in the end, she’s the one who rescued his ass."
"What a joke," someone scoffed. "Even Izu—whom you kept picking on—did more than you."
Chuck’s nostrils flared as his face burned redder with every mockery thrown his way. His hands balled into tight fists, teeth grinding.
The fight in Ravah had ended, and everything had moved according to Atlas’s decisions and commands. However, that didn’t mean everyone had forgotten Chuck’s pathetic participation.
"That lucky bastard..." someone groaned. "He kept saying the madam would steal the credit, but who’s taking credit now? Because of this mission, everyone’s getting rewarded—especially those in the main team. How could he get rewarded when all he did was weigh the team down?"
Of course, not everyone was happy about that.
Every single person had contributed to the mission. Many of them were still working through the aftermath. However, everyone knew that the main team would receive different rewards.
And they deserved it, especially Lola’s team. They carried most of the burden. Even Haji’s team redeemed themselves: Scarlet helped Haji take down Jarvis, Tyga assisted Izu and later Pika with the camp team, and Kean rescued an ally during the fight, risking his own life to do so. If not for Kean putting himself in danger, some of their comrades would’ve been counted as casualties.
But what about Chuck?
"You fuckers..." Chuck hissed, his eyes glinting with malice. "Do you really think I did nothing?! I didn’t want to say this because the master already knows — that’s why he’s not punishing me. But if it weren’t for me, many of you would be dead!"
"Kean would’ve died without me, and that ugly face Haji would’ve had his brains blown out!" he added, chin lifting proudly. "I provided cover—it was me!"
He slapped his chest loudly. "Why don’t you ask them who their hero is, huh?!"
"What does that mean?"
Scarlet’s cold voice suddenly echoed behind him, freezing Chuck in place. Slowly, he turned around to see her standing there.
"Huh?" he muttered, only to see her eyes sharpen.
"What does that mean, Chuck?" she asked coolly. "You provided cover—how exactly did you provide cover for Haji?"
He opened and closed his mouth before clearing his throat. "Like usual."
And by usual, he meant what he was truly good at—the very skill that earned him a place in the Inner Circle.

[Flashback]
BANG! BANG!
Gunshots echoed across the square every second, accompanied by piercing shouts from both sides and the deafening silence of the fallen. Explosions rumbled throughout the city, but to Chuck, everything sounded muffled.
Standing in the attic of the church with the highest elevation in the city, Chuck nodded to himself.
"This is good."
He glanced behind him.
The man who had been with him lay lifeless on the floor, the result of his brief encounter with Chuck. Not sparing him another look, Chuck crouched beside a bag filled with weapons and ammunition.
When the team disbanded and everyone went their separate ways, he knew he had to do something. While moving through the city, he noticed enemy shooters positioned above. Since long-range combat was his specialty, he slipped into this place and did what he did best.
It was no secret that Chuck was one of the best snipers in the Order.
Assembling a sniper rifle from the available parts, he quickly got into position.
He started with enemies at higher elevations, taking them out with flawless precision and saving countless fighters below. Then, he shifted his focus to enemies on the ground. With years of experience, identifying allies was easy. When unsure, he held his fire as it was more efficient that way.
Through the scope, he spotted Kean running across the square, dragging wounded people to safety.
"Tsk." Chuck clicked his tongue. "I don’t like him."
If Kean got shot, so be it. Chuck had never liked him, especially with how Kean constantly blamed him for everything.
But despite those intrusive thoughts, Chuck instinctively adjusted his rifle when he saw someone nearby raising their weapon toward Kean.
PHEW!
The enemy dropped before they could fire. Kean, unaware, continued treating the injured man he had pulled aside.
"Useless medic," Chuck hissed, yet he continued providing cover until Kean regrouped with others.
He worked like that for a while before another explosion caught his attention. Pulling away from the scope, Chuck looked toward the distance.
Fire and smoke filled the horizon, making it clear how far the chaos had spread.
"..."
After a moment, his gaze settled on the ladder nearby. He stared at it, then at the rifle in his hands.
"This guy really had a nice scope," he muttered, glancing at the man he had taken down. "People like him — who have great weapons, but have no idea how to use them—irritate me the most."
Chuck had assembled the rifle himself, but every part was top-notch.
Without dwelling on it, he slung the bag over his shoulder and climbed toward the church’s pointed roof. There were many tall buildings in the city, but this one clearly had the highest peak.
"I’ll get a better view from there."
With that thought in mind, Chuck made a decision—one no one would ever know about, yet one that had helped countless people that day.
