The Billionaire CEO Wants to Marry Me Every Day-Chapter 516: The Funeral Procession
Just as Henry Stanton was about to follow, Summer Monroe gently held onto his sleeve and asked softly, "Dad, after Clarissa’s funeral, are you still planning to take Aunt back?"
Henry instinctively shook his head. "No. She seems to have recovered well enough. There’s no need for her to stay at the hospital any longer, and it wouldn’t sound good if word got out."
As he spoke, Henry looked up at Summer, asking, "Sadie, let me ask you. You wouldn’t want your aunt to come back, would you?"
Summer laughed, "How could that be? She’s my aunt, and now your wife. I couldn’t be happier if she comes back to be with the family again. It’s just that..."
"Just what?"
Summer shook her head, a rather forced smile on her face, waving her hands, "It’s nothing, just some rumors. You shouldn’t pay them any mind."
However, the more Summer spoke, the more curious Henry became, frowning as he asked, "Go on, there’s nothing I can’t hear."
Summer bit her lip, speaking with difficulty, "I’d better not say, Dad. Maybe the doctors and nurses at the hospital have too much free time. It’s just idle gossip. You don’t need to worry."
Henry didn’t press further, but his brows furrowed even tighter.
He secretly took note of the matter, then, as if nothing was amiss, walked toward Stella Monroe like before.
As Damian Knight saw Henry leave, he stepped over, asking softly, "Stella Monroe has returned. What are you planning?"
Summer gave a meaningful glance at Stella and Henry standing side by side, then turned to Damian and said, "That mental hospital is Isaac Ross’s, right? Can you ask him to help me with something?"
"Of course."
Summer nodded and whispered a few words in Damian’s ear.
Damian laughed, "Your plan is quite brilliant."
Summer shrugged, "I have no choice. I’ve thought long and hard about how to let Henry know about Stella and Felix Jennings. In the end, no matter how I approach it, it’s better if Henry investigates on his own. He’s so suspicious; just a hint from me, and he’ll start checking."
Just as she finished speaking, they heard Stella’s cries from the other side.
Stella had been comforted by Felix Jennings and was feeling much better, but when she saw Clarissa Stanton’s face in the coffin, her emotions collapsed as if the entire Stanton Group Building had crumbled.
Summer raised an eyebrow; Stella was bad to the core, but her motherly love was undeniable.
She couldn’t help but think of her own mother, and her eyes suddenly darkened.
Nearby, Damian noticed Summer’s mood and softly comforted, "You still have me, your adoptive parents, and your brother, Sadie. You’re not alone."
Damian rarely called her "Sadie," and the sudden use of it left Summer startled for a second.
She smiled sincerely, "Thank you."
"Tsk." Damian shook his head, "You’ve forgotten again, what should you say when you thank someone?"
Summer helplessly lowered her head, "Damian Knight, you’re so childish."
Damian didn’t deny it, nodding, "Perhaps."
If he were mature enough, he wouldn’t need to gather all sorts of information daily on how to win over Summer.
Soon, the crematorium’s vehicle arrived.
Summer followed behind the pallbearers.
The weather was already quite hot, and Clarissa Stanton’s body had been left outdoors in the backyard for over a week, starting to emit a foul smell.
Concerned that Damian, being pampered, would be uncomfortable with the smell, Summer softly suggested, "Damian, why don’t you handle your end? I can take care of this."
"No need..." Damian’s words were interrupted by Isaac Ross calling.
