The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 719 - 760: The Unexpected Incident in the Car
In the car, Sienna Johnson looked through the rearview mirror at Geral Powell, who was still standing there, and said to Adrian Desmond, "What on earth does Geral Powell want to do? Isn’t he being a bit too enthusiastic towards us? Our relationship with the Carpenter Family is so tense right now. Logically, as Mr. Carpenter’s adopted son, he should be siding with the Carpenter Family, but he’s acting overly friendly."
"Who cares what he’s doing." Adrian Desmond didn’t take Geral Powell seriously.
Sienna felt a slight headache coming on. Her hand subconsciously went to her handbag as she instructed Adrian, "The genetic test—make sure you arrange for someone reliable to handle it."
"Mm-hm."
Adrian looked at Sienna’s exhausted expression; she was slumped softly where she sat, unwilling to even budge.
"Very tired?"
"Emotionally exhausted."
Adrian reached out, took her hand, and said, "You shouldn’t come to occasions like this in the future."
"And what about you?" she looked at him and questioned.
Adrian pursed his lips and remained silent.
Sienna pulled his hand to her cheek. Because of his martial arts training, his hands weren’t soft; instead, they bore a thin layer of calluses, rough and abrasive to the touch, yet they paradoxically gave her a sense of security.
"I don’t want you to see them," she confessed her selfish little wish.
"It’s not like they’re going to eat me, are they?" he chuckled lightly.
"Adrian, I have an innate sense for danger. That Elliot Carpenter... I always feel he’s very dangerous. Knowing he’s a threat, yet you still approach him—how can that possibly put my mind at ease?"
"Even if the sky falls, I’ll be here to hold it up. Don’t you worry needlessly."
"Adrian, I—"
"Shhh..." He didn’t let her finish, gently withdrawing his hand from hers and covering her eyes. "Be good now, sleep."
Sienna sighed. She closed her eyes, trying to drift into a light sleep, but she couldn’t fall asleep at all.
...
A while later, as the car continued on its way, Adrian suddenly placed Curly between them. Curly’s head bumped against Sienna, jolting her awake from her light sleep.
"What’s wrong?"
The car they were in today didn’t have a child safety seat installed. Sienna quickly steadied Curly’s upper body to prevent her from being thrown aside if the car turned.
"I’m not feeling well..." Adrian began, his voice hoarse, as if... Startled, Sienna looked at him. His face was slick with sweat and flushed an unnatural, feverish red.
Her gaze shifted downwards, and sure enough, she saw the prominent bulge in his lap. "How... How did this happen?"
Something was clearly very wrong with Adrian.
"I think... I’ve been drugged," he said.
"What?"
"It’s nothing, don’t worry. I’ll be fine after a cold shower when we get back."
Adrian didn’t dare even glance at Sienna. Right then, she was like a succulent piece of meat to him, and all he wanted was to pounce on her and take a bite.
He deliberately kept his eyes closed, trying not to look at Sienna. But her familiar, alluring body scent drifted into his nostrils, acting like an even more potent drug.
He suddenly snapped his eyes open, his gaze fixed on Sienna, looking as if he could devour her whole.
"Who drugged you? Melanie Carpenter? Did she intend to force the issue with you today?" Sienna exclaimed, exasperated and furious.
She’d thought they were lucky today, that they’d managed to get away unscathed. She never expected such a malicious trick to be played on Adrian right at the end.
Adrian must have been drugged at the Carpenter residence. If it had been actual poison, she might not have immediately suspected Melanie Carpenter. But for this kind of drug, within the entire Carpenter family, Melanie was the most likely culprit.
"Hmph! So now she thinks of drugging you to force the issue? What took her so long? What was she doing before?" Sienna sneered.
Adrian felt as if his entire body was being roasted over a fire. He needed water—cool, soothing water, and Sienna was the one who could quench the fire raging within him.
But... his scorching gaze paused on her belly, and the inferno inside him abated slightly. Her belly was already large; they couldn’t be intimate anymore.
Even if it were barely possible, he was drugged. If he couldn’t control his strength and ended up hurting her or the baby, Adrian felt he might as well be dead.
"Get in the other car! Now!" Adrian didn’t dare to keep looking at Sienna. He was afraid if he looked any longer, he wouldn’t be able to hold back.
"What about you?"
"I’ll endure it!"
"Is this something that can just be endured?"
Adrian shot her a look full of resentment. "If I don’t endure it, what else can I do? Are you going to find me a woman?"
"Why are you taking it out on me? It’s not like I’m the one who drugged you! If you’re angry, go find Melanie Carpenter. Nine times out of ten, she’s the one responsible!" 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Sienna’s face tightened, her expression also showing her anger.
"We don’t even know the full story yet, do we? How can you be so sure it was her?"
Sienna looked at Adrian, a cold smile playing on her lips. "That’s right, how could your ’virtuous’ cousin possibly do such a thing? Your cousin is so ’pure,’ isn’t she? Then it must have been me who drugged you, alright? Satisfied?"
"Why are we even arguing?"
"You’re the one who wants to argue!"
"I said one thing, and you came back with ten retorts."
Sienna turned away, looked out the car window, and stopped talking. Seeing her like that, Adrian knew she was sulking.
He had a temper, and hers was no smaller. When they were angry, they were like two hard stones clashing—stone against stone, both ending up battered and bruised.
"Stop fighting with me, alright? I really don’t feel well," he said, softening his tone, trying to coax her.
"You don’t feel well? Serves you right!"
"Sienna Johnson, you’re my woman! Is that any way for you to talk?"
Sienna shot back, "What’s wrong with how I talk? Am I wrong? It’s a good thing I came with you today! If I hadn’t, wouldn’t you have fallen right into the trap of whoever drugged you?"
"Am I the kind of person who has no self-control?"
Sienna reached out and viciously grabbed the bulging ’little tent’ in his lap. Adrian’s expression instantly contorted.
"You call this having self-control? This is what you look like with self-control?"
"It’s been so long since I last touched you, and on top of that, I’ve been drugged. Isn’t it perfectly normal to have a reaction?"
"So, Sixth Master is all worked up now, is he?" Sienna retorted. "What’s next? I suppose you’ll have to find some woman to vent on, won’t you?"
"I’m not arguing with you!" Adrian was already feeling terrible and was in no mood to deal with her unreasonable tantrum. His eyes bloodshot, he stared out the car window and fell silent.
The car drove smoothly. After about five or six minutes, Adrian’s breathing grew increasingly heavy and ragged. The sounds escaping his throat were like those of a male animal desperately seeking a mate.
Adrian, unable to bear it any longer, undid the zipper of his pants and thrust his hand inside...
Sienna saw what Adrian was doing reflected in the car window. She wished she could jump out of the car that very instant and never lay eyes on this man again.
"Adrian, your daughter is still in the car!"
"Cover her eyes!"
His hand moved up and down rhythmically. Sienna pulled her daughter into her embrace, covered the child’s eyes with one hand, and stared fixedly out the window.
Because of the darkness outside, the car window had become a mirror, reflecting Adrian’s every move with stark clarity.
