The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 717 - 758: The verbal battle with Melanie Carpenter
Elliot Carpenter glanced at the people present, sighed, and said, "The Desmond Family and the Carpenter Family were once prestigious, but now our lines have dwindled, leaving only a few of us."
Gerald Powell interjected, "Dad, the Desmond Family and the Carpenter Family will gradually grow in number again..."
Gerald Powell looked at Sienna Johnson and said, "You see, Adrian Desmond is going to be a father again in a few months."
"Do you know if it’s a boy or a girl?" asked Elliot Carpenter.
Adrian Desmond replied, "It’s a boy." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Elliot Carpenter said, "Your father would have been delighted if he knew you were having a son."
"Yes, if my parents were alive and knew I had a son, they would be very happy. Unfortunately..." Adrian Desmond trailed off, then tilted his head back and drained his glass of wine.
Melanie Carpenter said with a hint of malice, "If my aunt and uncle were still alive, would they approve of you marrying a woman from Orienta?"
Melanie Carpenter deliberately revealed her left cheek.
She had deliberately not worn makeup tonight, hoping Adrian Desmond would show concern and ask about her injured face. But from the very beginning, he had avoided any contact with her, not even sparing her a glance.
It must be because of that Sienna Johnson that Adrian Desmond is treating me this way!
"My aunt especially disliked overly clever, aggressive, and ill-mannered women. Sixth Brother, Sienna Johnson just slapped me. You owe me an explanation, don’t you?"
Sienna Johnson retorted, "And what kind of explanation do you want?"
"You slapped me, so naturally, I have to slap you back!" Melanie Carpenter glared at Sienna Johnson, a glimmer of anticipation in her eyes. She really wanted to return that slap.
"Dream on!"
"Why is it okay for you to hit me, but not for me to hit you back?"
Sienna Johnson shot back, "Because you ran your mouth!"
Elliot Carpenter glared at Sienna Johnson, defending his daughter. "Miss Johnson, is this how your parents raised you? To come into someone else’s home and resort to violence at the slightest disagreement? Are you a shrew?"
"Why are you dragging my parents into this?" Sienna Johnson retorted.
"Because your parents clearly didn’t teach you any manners!"
"Whether my parents raised me well is not for you to say! Just as I believe you haven’t raised Miss Carpenter properly either! But of course, in Mr. Carpenter’s eyes, his own daughter must be perfect."
Sienna Johnson fixed her gaze on Melanie Carpenter and said, "Mr. Carpenter, since everyone is here today, I’ll lay my cards on the table.
Please do your daughter a favor and find the biological father of her son. Stop her from running around all day, nonsensically claiming her son is Adrian Desmond’s!
If Adrian Desmond needs sons, I’ll bear them for him! As for Miss Carpenter’s son, she should keep him to support her in her old age."
"Devin Desmond is Sixth Brother’s son!" Melanie insisted.
"Ha! Melanie Carpenter, if you dare spout such nonsense again, I’ll slap you again!"
Elliot Carpenter roared, "Miss Johnson, this is my house! You have no right to behave so audaciously here!"
"Mr. Carpenter, is this your family’s upbringing?" Sienna challenged. "Your own daughter doesn’t even know whose bastard child she bore, yet she tries to pin him on my husband, and you won’t even allow me to state the truth?"
Elliot Carpenter was speechless.
"Mr. Carpenter, if your daughter is mentally ill, she should be in a psychiatric hospital. You brought her out; be careful her condition doesn’t worsen..."
Before she could finish, Elliot Carpenter snatched the bowl in front of him and hurled it at Sienna Johnson. Adrian Desmond shot out a hand and caught it effortlessly.
Sienna Johnson instantly dropped her previous aggressive demeanor. She clung to Adrian Desmond’s arm, leaned against him, and said in a soft, helpless voice, "Husband, Mr. Carpenter is trying to kill me! I’m so scared..."
Elliot Carpenter was stunned into silence.
Adrian Desmond put his arm around Sienna Johnson, patting her shoulder gently. He said to Elliot Carpenter, "Uncle, Sienna is timid; please don’t frighten her. If she’s done anything wrong, you can blame me. She’s my woman. If she’s made any mistakes, it’s only because I, her husband, haven’t taught her properly."
Sienna Johnson interjected, "Husband, I did nothing wrong! That child clearly isn’t yours, but she kept insisting he was, and wouldn’t listen no matter what I said. There were so many people there; if I hadn’t been firm, the whole of Abyanabad would probably know you’d been duped into fatherhood by now."
Adrian Desmond remained silent.
"If you need sons, I’ll bear them for you; eight or ten would be no problem! No matter how much money you have, you can’t use it to raise someone else’s child. Adrian Desmond, let me tell you, all your money must be saved for the children *I* bear!"
In romantic matters, Sienna Johnson could be quite imperious. Yet, when she acted this way, she always used such a sweet and coquettish tone that Adrian Desmond didn’t find it offensive in the slightest.
He listened quietly.
"With a mother as muddle-headed as her, the son can’t turn out much better. You’d raise him only for him to become an ungrateful brat, just like Sabrina Johnson. And when he eventually bites you, I’ll be the one whose heart aches."
Adrian Desmond chuckled. "I don’t have spare cash to be raising another man’s child!"
To Melanie Carpenter, the two of them were shamelessly flaunting their affection as if no one else existed. Had they even once considered her feelings, Adrian Desmond’s ex-wife?
Melanie Carpenter couldn’t bear it any longer. She shot to her feet and pointed furiously at Sienna Johnson. "You shameless woman! You stole another woman’s husband, and now you dare to come to our home and act so brazenly? Aren’t you afraid of retribution?"
Sienna Johnson swept a cold gaze over her. "’Yours, yours’? Is Adrian Desmond some kind of object that you can claim? You keep saying he’s yours. Well, since you think he belongs to you, try calling out to him. See if he even acknowledges you."
Adrian Desmond was at a loss for words.
"Sixth Brother, have you forgotten what you promised my father? You said you would marry me, that you would take care of me for my entire life! And now? You married this abominable woman, you let her bully me, you’ve broken your promise! You’re inhuman! You’ll face retribution for this!"
Adrian Desmond’s expression darkened, but he remained silent, allowing Melanie Carpenter to hurl abuse at him.
"I curse you both! You will definitely come to a terrible end!"
Adrian Desmond remained silent, but Sienna Johnson was not about to. She glared at Melanie Carpenter and retorted, "Why don’t you take a look at yourself? You consider yourself Adrian Desmond’s woman, don’t you? Then how did Devin come into existence? Don’t tell me you’re going to claim some man raped you, and that’s how Devin was born?"
Melanie Carpenter was speechless.
"When it comes to shamelessness, if you, Melanie Carpenter, claim to be second, no one would dare claim first! You constantly profess your love for Adrian Desmond. If you had actually remained chaste for him and hadn’t climbed into other men’s beds, I might even have a shred of respect for you.
But what did you do?
You play the victim and condemn us, all while sleeping with other men and bearing their children! And as if that weren’t enough, you then try to pin that child on Adrian Desmond! This behavior of yours—cuckolding him while trying to pass off another man’s child as his—is utterly disgraceful."
Melanie Carpenter stood frozen.
"Melanie Carpenter, just how shameless can you be? While you still held the title of Mrs. Desmond, you were sleeping with other men and even had a child with one of them! And yet, you still have the gall to claim you love Adrian Desmond!"
She was seething.
"You love Adrian Desmond? Ha! I’m begging you, don’t insult the word ’love.’ You are not worthy of it!"
"Sienna Johnson, I curse you! I curse you..." Melanie Carpenter was so thoroughly berated by Sienna Johnson that she had no comeback.
