The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 492 - 493: Turns Out They Overthought It
"She will! But even if she doesn’t, it doesn’t matter. Because no matter how much she struggles, the end result for her is prison!"
Indeed, no matter what Sabrina Johnson did, the ultimate result was jail!
Sienna Johnson’s gaze became resolute, no longer containing any trace of vulnerability.
The two of them opened the door and walked out. Alexandria was in the hallway, idly playing with his intricate pocket watch, seemingly waiting for Adrian Desmond. Seeing Adrian emerge, he pocketed his watch and offered a friendly smile.
"Young Adrian, I haven’t seen you in years," Alexandria greeted.
"Yeah, it’s been almost seven years," Adrian replied.
"I heard your wife ran off with your son. Have you found them?" His gaze fell on Sienna’s face, full of inquiry.
Sienna noticed Adrian falter in his steps. This old man really knew how to pick at a sore spot, bringing up the most embarrassing event of Adrian’s life: his woman had run off, pregnant with their child.
Adrian firmly took Sienna’s hand, pulling her slightly in front of him to introduce her to Alexandria, "This is my wife, Sienna Johnson. Sienna, this is Alexandria... my friend."
Alexandria took Sienna’s hand, performing a courteous hand-kiss. "Beautiful lady, it’s a pleasure to meet you. You can call me Kiya."
Sienna offered a slight smile and said, "Hello. Thank you for today."
"The pleasure is all mine, beautiful lady!" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Alexandria, though elderly, was a very genteel man, his conduct entirely that of a Brevon gentleman. Sienna’s first impression of him was quite favorable. Though Alexandria was older, he was undeniably a charismatic man.
There were reporters in the hallway attempting to interview Sienna, taking pictures and circling around them. Thankfully, their bodyguard shielded them; otherwise, they would have been overwhelmed by the reporters. It wasn’t convenient to talk in the hallway, so the three of them went into a nearby room.
Alexandria was a great conversationalist, particularly when discussing his profession. Out of curiosity, Sienna asked, "Kiya, how exactly did you determine in the courtroom that Sabrina Johnson does not have a mental illness?" This question was not only on Sienna’s mind but had also piqued the curiosity of everyone present in the courtroom that day.
Alexandria chuckled. "Actually, I don’t know if she has a mental illness or not."
Sienna was taken aback. Recalling his deliberate mystification in the courtroom that had fooled everyone, she found herself speechless.
"How is that possible? Aren’t you a world-renowned psychiatrist? How could you not know whether she has a mental illness?"
He explained leisurely, "I am a psychiatrist, and a skilled one at that, but if the subject doesn’t cooperate, there’s nothing I can do."
Adrian had anticipated this, which was why he had sought out Alexandria, a figure of such great stature, merely to handle today’s situation.
Orientals tend to trust authority and experts implicitly. No one would doubt Alexandria’s word, even though Alexandria hadn’t actually conducted a psychiatric evaluation of Sabrina Johnson.
"Then what were you writing in the courtroom?" Sienna asked curiously.
"I was jotting down what I want to eat tonight—the ingredients, preparation method, what wine to pair it with... I’ve heard the roast duck in Sileria City is quite famous. Shall we go eat Sileria roast duck tonight? And also Hairy Eggs... I’ve heard they’re quite famous and very nutritious, but most people don’t have the courage to eat them. I’d like to try some..."
Sienna had initially regarded Alexandria as an almost god-like figure. However, after just a few simple exchanges, he descended from the clouds into the mortal realm in her eyes, tinged with the ordinary affairs of human life.
Adrian covered his lower face with his hand. The memory of eating Hairy Eggs still made him queasy. The food in Orienta was truly... something else.
"I grew up in Sileria City; no one knows the good food here better than I do. Once the trial is over, how about I take you to taste the delicacies of Sileria City?" Sienna offered enthusiastically.
Alexandria’s eyes lit up, and he nodded. "Excellent idea."
Alexandria was from Brevon, a native of Britton, born and bred in the city. From his home, one could see the ’Wheel of Britton.’ He was very talkative, chatting about the local customs and lifestyle in Britton, and eventually invited Sienna and Adrian to visit his manor in Brevon.
Sienna gladly accepted.
For years, she had felt like a tightly wound clockwork doll, constantly in motion. The string in her mind had been stretched taut for so long. Once Sabrina Johnson was sentenced, Sienna wanted to give herself a long vacation. She was truly exhausted.
"What do you see in this lad?" Alexandria asked, looking at Adrian with a disgusted expression. "Aside from being somewhat good-looking, the man is as crude as a barbarian and isn’t the least bit gentle or considerate towards women. I didn’t think any woman would actually like him!"
Sienna glanced at Adrian, smiling enchantingly, but didn’t answer Alexandria’s question. Adrian pulled Sienna into his embrace and said to Alexandria without ceremony, "Old man, I’m not the same as I was before. Being gentle and considerate? I can do that too."
Alexandria raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
"I just need to read more romance novels and watch more romantic movies..."
Sienna really didn’t want Adrian recommending those web novels to others again, so she quickly changed the subject. "How did you two meet?"
One was an expert in the field of psychiatry; the other, the Sixth Master of Abyanabad, a man with influence in both legitimate circles and the underworld. No matter how one looked at it, their social circles seemed utterly incompatible.
Alexandria began to recount the story of how they met.
"...When I was traveling in Himakati, I encountered some local armed forces and was injured. Young Adrian here saved me..."
Sienna recalled her own experience. Adrian wasn’t the type to go about righting wrongs for justice’s sake. For example, he had rescued her at sea, but she later found out it was only because he’d taken an immediate fancy to her and wanted to take her home as his mistress.
"Sixth Master, so you are a hero who acts bravely for a just cause after all," Sienna said, looking askance at Adrian, her tone deceptively obedient.
Alexandria laughed, a sarcastic smile playing on his lips. "...Act bravely for a just cause? Young Adrian would never do something like that. He rescued me because he knew I was a doctor. Their merchant ship was about to pass through Kalare, and they were short a doctor, so they shanghaied me onto the vessel. I stayed on that ship for a full six months. I thought I’d be stuck on that ship for the rest of my life, never able to set foot on land again.
Then, after they unloaded their cargo and saw I had no more use value, they just dumped me at the pier and sailed off."
Sienna was aghast. "That’s... that’s despicable!"
She was momentarily speechless again.
"Do you know?" Alexandria continued, "I provided him with free medical services for six months, and he didn’t pay me a single cent!"
