Chapter 78: Ch 78: Meeting

My chest felt a little tight, but I still forced myself to speak to Damian. I paused for a brief moment before opening my mouth.

"I...see. In that case, please keep me informed about whatever information you find on Iris. I will try to take care of the social media side of our business."

I told Damian, but my words came out a little...off.

Even I could hear it.

"You...I will keep you informed about the case in the future. I might need some time with all this, so if you don’t see me around, it is because of this."

Damian told me, and I suddenly felt like I was being abandoned by him for the sake of the person he started all this for.

The thought lingered longer than I liked.

Being with Damian was like a curse and a blessing at the same time.

He made me feel happy, loved, and needed.

He was slowly making me feel what care was like and filling my life with things I had missed....Things I had stopped expecting.

However, this was all an act on his part.

I needed to remember that his real concern was not me, but his desire to take over Harvour Industries.

And he was only being like this to me because he needed me.

And somehow, I had a feeling that it was all personal.

’Whoever is making Damian act must be so lucky. I just wish I had someone who was willing to turn the world upside-down for me as well.’

The thought slipped out before I could stop it.

But that was a dream that I had no time or business dreaming of.

I had more important things to do at the moment.

The atmosphere turned weird, and Damian coughed to get my attention before he changed the topic.

"About that project we just finished with Noah Park, when do you think the best time to release it would be?"

"That project? I think we should do it soon while we still have momentum..."

Our conversation turned toward business, and that was how lunch was spent.

By dinner time, Damian had to leave because he had a sudden meeting.

The timing felt abrupt.

Since he did not tell me what it was about, I could only assume that it was about the family business.

I decided not to ask him about it either.

He did not come back that night, and I felt a little disappointed.

The house felt quieter than usual.

But work kept me busy, and I kept surfing the internet to get more ideas about what I could do to further my influence and push Rose down.

The next morning arrived, and Damian was still not here.

I decided to leave him a note before I went to visit NYC Entertainment.

Nicole had left me a message telling me that she wanted me to meet her.

Once I arrived at NYC Entertainment, the first thing I noticed was the amount of people surrounding it.

There seemed to be an audition going on here which I was not told about.

And an audition meant that there were paparazzi around as well, which I was not in the mood to deal with.

Sneaking into NYC Entertainment from the back staff entry was not my idea of fun.

But it was a necessary thing to do in this situation.

I headed toward Nicole’s office immediately, and her secretary noticed me before I called out to her.

"Please wait a minute, Miss Jenna. I will inform Miss Park that you are here to meet her. She is currently having a small talk with our talent scouts."

The secretary looked overworked and irritated.

I had a feeling that she had tended to more than a few people by now and was getting annoyed by them all.

I did not want to add to her burden, so I just nodded and took a seat. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

A few minutes later, Nicole walked into the room and immediately headed toward me.

"Miss Jenna, you are here already? What time is it...oh-! It’s already so late? I must have lost track of time with those idiots...I mean, those scouts. Please, come with me. We can discuss what we need to."

I was led by Nicole back into her office, where a few people were sitting already.

They all gave me an annoyed glare as soon as I entered, but no one spoke a single word in front of Nicole.

"Everyone, I would like to introduce you to my partner for the social media project, Miss Jenna Lorance. Miss Jenna, these people are our talent scouts and also the judges for the current tryouts for our talent section."

Nicole introduced us, but she looked like she wanted to lie down and never wake up again.

But she had work to do, and that motivated her to keep going.

I turned away from her and toward the so-called talent scouts...and immediately noticed that they did not look happy to see me.

"Miss Nicole, this is not fair. We have been with you for years, and we have scouted out talents for you. But you always told us you had no intention of stepping into the industry yourself and always forced us to give up our scouted talents to other companies. So why have you decided to take action now?"

One of the scouts could not hold herself back and ended up asking this.

Her eyes burned when they looked at me, and I had a feeling she would rip me apart if she got the chance.

Thankfully, Nicole saw that as well and decided to put an end to this before things could get bad.

"I know I said I would not step into the industry, but I feel like it is the right time for me to do this now. That is all there is to it. Miss Jenna has nothing to do with all this, so you need to calm down now."
