The Betrayed Heiress's Second Comeback-Chapter 54: Ch : First Ally
The silence that followed my question told me that Nicole had already done her homework on me. She had only asked me to confirm whether I would use my old name with her or not.
"Hmm, alright. I knew you were not my Jenna since dead cannot come back to life. But I still wanted to ask you to see what you would say. It’s nice to see that you know your limits."
Those were some hurtful words... if I paid attention to them. But in reality, I was hearing what Nicole had to say from one ear and letting it out from the other.
I was well-acquainted with her personality and knew she could be bold and reckless at times. So I did not take her words to heart... or I could get hurt.
"Hmm, I always make sure I am in my lane, Miss Nicole. Now, shall we get to the relevant part of why I am here? Please have a look at this."
I extended a contract toward the female, and she took it with a suspicious look on her face.
"What’s this?"
"This is a contract for cooperation. Mr. Black would like to step into the entertainment business, and your company has been chosen to be their partner among a few others. Should you agree, your company would likely reach a new height."
I told Nicole, and her eyes narrowed at my proposal before she threw the papers back at the table.
"Heh... you think you can buy my loyalty? Go back, kid. I am not in a mood to play games. This company is not for sale."
She told me as she sat straight. She was proving to be more difficult than I had expected, but that was fine. I was not completely out of options for now.
"Miss, I am not asking you to give me your loyalty. I am just asking you to keep the promise you made to someone. Ah, I was asked to also pass along something else to you."
I took out a letter and a box before I handed it over to Nicole. It was a token of our promise I had kept safe in a lock which would only open with my fingerprints.
It was stored in a safe location which only I knew of, and it had been a hassle to retrieve... mainly because Emma kept asking where we were going.
But it was clearly something that I needed to get in order to convince Nicole about my intentions.
"What is this...? No way—!"
Nicole gasped before she grabbed the box and pressed her thumb against the pad. The box beeped before it opened, and a small paper slip came out of it.
"Y-You... how did you...?"
Nicole looked speechless as she kept the box close to her. It was clear that the contents of this box and my actions had shocked her.
"Miss, it was something that was entrusted to me by the previous owner of this item. They might no longer be here, but their will still lives on. As for what you want to do, it is up to you."
Not that I was going to give Nicole a choice in this matter. I needed her help, and I would get it one way or another.
But it would truly be better if she were to give it to me out of her own accord.
"I... this is..."
She tried to speak, but words wouldn’t escape her lips. I knew that it was time for me to end things here.
"Please, take your time. I will take my leave now since I still have some places to go to. But I do hope I get an answer from you soon."
I told the female as I stood up. I had just reached the front desk when I heard loud footsteps following me.
"WAIT—! WAIT A MINUTE. I-I will give you an answer right now. That contract with Mr. Black? We will sign it. Just give me some time to read through it and go over the terms with my lawyers."
Nicole told me, and I felt a little shocked at how quickly she came around. I had been ready to come around a little more often and talk to her regarding things.
"I see. That’s good to hear. Then, I will make sure to visit you tomorrow with Mr. Black."
I told the female, and she nodded as she gripped the paper in her hand tighter. With this, the first weapon had been acquired. Now, I just needed a few more.
With Nicole on my side, convincing the others was easy. She had already informed the others of my visit, and they were waiting.
After I gave them all their contract, it was time to head back home.
Emma kept giving me jealous and annoyed looks the whole time we were out, and I kept pretending I did not notice. That must have gotten to Emma because she decided she could not take it anymore, and with a last frustrated sigh, she turned toward me.
"Just how did you do that? Those companies we went to today... they are known to be iron-clad companies who do not accept outsiders into their circle. Just what kind of magic did you perform on them?"
Emma asked, and I just gave her a small smile.
"Do not worry about it. You should just know that these companies are our allies now. Isn’t that what’s important?"
I got no answer, only a frustrated sigh. I ignored Emma and immediately found Damian upon my return to discuss what we ended up doing next.
The air between us was still awkward, and we did not know what to do with each other. But talking about business helped me smoothen over our awkwardness, and the next morning, we left for NYC Entertainment again.
Nicole was waiting for me with her lawyers who held the contract.
"So, did you read the contract?"
I asked as I took a seat, and she nodded. Then, she turned toward Damian and gave him a searching look.
"I did read the contract, and I would like to go over some points before I sign it. I would also like to know what our future plans are regarding this, if you don’t mind."
She asked, and I nodded. With this, our first ally had been secured.
