The Art of Chaotic Divinity-Chapter 804: Visitors from the Sect
Chapter 804: Visitors from the Sect
"Master, you don't need to explain all that. What I really want to know is—what do you know about the Northwestern Army's Ancient Tower Grove? Is it truly as Captain Gu described, a place that holds the Three Thousand Great Daos?"
Ling Feng wiped the sweat from his brow and asked solemnly.
"I don't know much about that." Yan Cangtian shook his head. "The secrets of the Ancient Tower Grove are highly classified within the military. Most people haven't even heard of it. Only someone like Gu Tengfeng, a descendant of the Gu family, would know a little."
Ling Feng rubbed his nose. That makes sense—military secrets wouldn't be easily leaked.
"Still, don't get your hopes up too much about the Ancient Tower Grove. How many people in all these years have truly comprehended a Great Dao? At best, most just grasp a martial skill or a new attribute or conscious realm. If you want specifics, you might as well ask that old man Deng Xian."
Ling Feng nodded slightly and spent some time with Yan Cangtian studying the discarded pills they had brought back from the Battlefield of the Gods and Demons.
Both were top-tier alchemists in the empire, and with treasures like the Vermilion-Eyed Ice Silkworm neutralizing the threat of pill toxicity, their research progressed swiftly.
It wasn't until dusk that Ling Feng left the medicinal herb garden with Tuoba Yan in tow.
Strangely enough, the usually icy Tuoba Yan seemed to have developed a respectful attitude toward Yan Cangtian, even addressing him as "Senior." This genuinely surprised Ling Feng.
He didn't know that Tuoba Yan was grateful for Yan Cangtian gifting her the Profound Yin Maiden Art, which was why she treated him with such reverence.
Before long, Ling Feng returned to his residence, only to find Ouyang Jing and the others gathered in his courtyard once again. Even Liu Yunfei and his cousin, along with Lin Xian'er and her senior sister Yun Yiyi, were there, all pestering Jiang Xiaofan to recount their adventures in the Western Wilderness.
Though Jiang Xiaofan wasn't the best storyteller, his words still held everyone spellbound.
"Big Brother's back!"
Ouyang Jing, sharp-eyed as ever, spotted Ling Feng and Tuoba Yan returning and immediately rushed over. "Our mighty General Weiyuan has finally returned!"
Ling Feng rolled his eyes at him. This guy always loved stirring up excitement over nothing!

"Brother Feng! (Chief!)"
The group had already heard of Ling Feng's glorious exploits from Jiang Xiaofan, and their admiration for him had only grown.
"Ling Feng, you really made a name for yourself this time." Qin Wanwan gazed at Ling Feng with a starstruck smile, her demeanor completely that of a devoted admirer.
"Miss Qin, Brother Liu."
Ling Feng gave her a slight nod. Over time, this young lady had indeed changed a great deal, blending in seamlessly with her peers and shedding her former haughty demeanor.
However, her feelings were something he still couldn't reciprocate.
And it wasn't just Qin Wanwan—with enemies lurking everywhere and his path forward still unclear, he had no desire to be entangled in matters of the heart.
Liu Yunfei would probably be a better match for her, but sometimes, those involved were the last to see it.
"Sect Leader!"
Su Hongxiu hurried over, grinning. "Sect Leader, while you were away, Senior Brother Luo and Senior Sister Jiang from our Ling Shen Sect arrived in the imperial capital. As per your instructions, I arranged for them to stay at the general's mansion."
"Oh? They're finally here?"
Ling Feng smiled faintly. Su Hongxiu and Jiang Wanqing had always been close, which explained her excitement.
"They arrived a couple of days ago." Lin Xian'er also stepped forward. "Our sect leader is always missing in action, so Hongxiu and I had to play host."
"Thanks for your hard work!"
Ling Feng chuckled. In truth, Divine Ling Sect's early growth was largely thanks to Lin Xian'er, the so-called "acting sect leader."
He gazed at her for a long moment before deciding to keep the news of Lin Canglang's survival buried forever. Despite not being her biological father, their bond of over a decade wasn't something that could simply vanish.
Even if Lin Xian'er said nothing, the knowledge would surely weigh on her heart.
"What is it?" Noticing Ling Feng staring, Lin Xian'er blushed slightly and shot him a reproachful look.
"Nothing. Since Jianying and the others are here, I'll head to the general's mansion to see them."
Ling Feng laughed it off, changing the subject. "There are some matters I need to discuss with them."
With that, he left Tianxuan Garden once again, this time taking only Tuoba Yan, Su Hongxiu, and Lin Xian'er to the general's mansion. Sect affairs weren't something outsiders needed to be involved in.
...
Soon, the group arrived at General Weiyuan's mansion. The guards at the gate immediately stepped forward to greet their master upon seeing him.
Inside, they quickly met Luo Jianying and Jiang Wanqing.
Aside from them, Elder Yao had also selected six outstanding young disciples to accompany them to the imperial capital.
Truth be told, though Ling Feng was the sect leader of the Divine Ling Sect, he had barely met most of its disciples.
"Greetings, Sect Leader!"
The disciples bowed in unison. Ling Feng waved for them to rise and took a moment to assess Luo and Jiang. After some time apart, their cultivation had progressed decently, having reached the level of over twenty meridian gates.
Of course, they still lagged behind the elite students of Tianwei Academy, but considering that Wenxian Sect's most outstanding direct disciple, Jing Wuxue, had only opened ten meridian gates and hadn't even qualified for Tianwei Academy, their progress was remarkable.
Now, though Luo Jianying and Jiang Wanqing couldn't be called geniuses or monsters, they were more than qualified to join Tianwei Academy.
Especially Luo Jianying. Though his limbs had once been crippled and his meridians severed, Ling Feng's treatment had left his tendons and veins even tougher than before. After switching to an earth-tier art, his current strength was such that even ten Jing Wuxues wouldn't stand a chance against him.
Such was the unpredictability of fate.
"Not bad," Ling Feng nodded slightly. "Elder Yao must have already explained why I sent you here."
"Yes."
Luo Jianying grinned. "Who would've thought that in just a few months, our sect leader would become an imperial general?"
"A meaningless title." Ling Feng waved it off. "General or student, I will always be the sect leader of Divine Ling Sect."
"Oh, Sect Leader." Jiang Wanqing bit her lip lightly and retrieved a letter from her storage spirit ring, handing it to him. "Elder Yao asked me to deliver this letter to you. It's from Senior Uncle Duanmu."
Jiang Wanqing had seemingly let go of her feelings for Ling Feng, focusing entirely on the sect's growth. Or perhaps she hadn't let go at all—she had simply come to terms with the gap between them and didn't dare to hold onto false hopes.
As the saying went, Better a bitter ending than an endless bitterness!
