The Art of Chaotic Divinity-Chapter 1427: "Fire Man" Ling Feng
Deep within the underground lava cavern.
Ling Feng raised his hand and looked at his palm. Flames surged across it without end. No matter how he tried, he could not draw the fire on his body back inside.
He knew that although he had survived his clash with the Heaven-Incinerating Dragon Fire, he had not subdued or refined it. This abnormal fire could not harm him, yet he could not control it either. In the end, it simply clung to his body, leaving him in this strange state.
Until he fully refined the Heaven-Incinerating Dragon Fire, he would likely remain like this, a walking "fire man." A portion of his strength was constantly tied up resisting the fire that continued to burn his body.
"Sigh. I didn't expect that final backlash from the abnormal fire would leave my Dragon-Elephant Tyrant Body Art stuck at the Strength of Eight Dragons. I couldn't break through to Strength of Ten Dragons. On top of that, I have to divert nearly thirty percent of my strength at all times just to resist it. I can't even fight at full power."
Ling Feng shook his head with a bitter smile. These issues were manageable. Once he refined the Heaven-Incinerating Dragon Fire, they would naturally be resolved.
The real problem was something else.
This state burned through clothes far too quickly!
The flames on his body were the Heaven-Incinerating Dragon Fire, a high-tier abnormal fire. Even though he could use his fourth-phase Devouring Flame to protect himself, it was almost impossible to keep his clothes from being scorched.
At most, his clothes could last half an hour before turning to ash, even with the Devouring Flame shielding them.
In the depths of the cavern, where no one was around, it did not matter much. But how was he supposed to return to the Land of War like this?
Ling Feng had no intention of running around naked!
After thinking it over, he took out some Celestial Dao metal ores. Back at Tianwei Academy, he had studied forging, and with his control over flames, crafting simple armor was well within his ability.
After spending a full eight hours, using the Extraterrestrial Star Iron he had won from Huang Lang as the main material, he forged a breastplate and a piece of leg armor, just enough to cover the important areas.
The problem was that his forging skills were nowhere near his alchemy skills, and materials were limited. The leg armor ended up looking like a pair of crude iron shorts. Once worn, it was far from appealing.
Still, its fire resistance was excellent. After putting on the armor, along with the flames surrounding his body, his overall appearance looked wild and imposing, almost over the top.
The only issue was that the flames could not be controlled freely. Every step he took left behind a scorched footprint on the ground.
"This is probably the best I can manage."
Ling Feng shook his head again with a helpless smile. He could not remain hidden here forever. As for refining the Heaven-Incinerating Dragon Fire, he had no idea how long it would take. It might be a few months, or it might take years.
He did not have that kind of time to waste. For now, he could only return to the Hall of War and make plans afterward.
The trouble was that in this state, anything he touched would catch fire.
Just like that, clad in silver armor and wreathed in flames, the "Fire Man" Ling Feng finally stepped out into the world.
Using Boundless Vision, he easily found his way back to the surface, only to discover that the main force had already left.
That made sense. He had spent three days in the underground cavern resisting the Heaven-Incinerating Dragon Fire, and nearly another day forging armor. With that much time gone, if Yin Jian and the others had stayed any longer, they would likely have been devoured by the monsters here.
"Looks like Senior Sister Li Fei and the others left with the main group as well."
Ling Feng rubbed the bridge of his nose, feeling somewhat relieved. If they had stayed behind, it would only have been more dangerous for them.
"Sigh. This state is troublesome, but I should catch up to them as soon as possible." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Ling Feng let out a faint sigh. If he could not resolve the Heaven-Incinerating Dragon Fire, he would have to return to the Dongling Immortal Pool and see if Elder Gui had a solution.
After all, in the Dongling Immortal Pool, the only one he got along with was that senior, Saint Gui.
...
At the same time, somewhere within the Land of War, a violent gale swept across the sky as more than ten figures streaked past. Below them, the ground was torn apart, leaving deep trenches in their wake.
A closer look revealed that five black-robed figures were chasing a woman in white at full speed.
She had skin like jade and a beauty beyond compare. Her features were exquisitely refined, carrying both maturity and elegance.
Her long black hair flowed behind her in the wind.
At a glance, she resembled a celestial fairy descending from the heavens.
Her white robes were as pure as snow, yet a patch of blood stained her chest, glaringly red.
She moved with astonishing speed, like a streak of light across the sky. The five black-robed pursuers behind her were just as fast, chasing relentlessly with furious expressions.
At their head was an old man with white hair. Strange bone-tooth necklaces hung from his body, and peculiar patterns were carved across his face. With his disheveled hair and appearance, he clearly resembled a barbarian.
The four behind him each wore ferocious ghost masks, revealing only their savage eyes as they chased the woman, as if they wished to tear her to pieces.
Their gazes burned with hatred, as though she had committed an unforgivable crime!
"You demoness Hui Yue! You dared to infiltrate our Barbarian God Temple alone and slaughter dozens of our Great Emperors! This hatred cannot be shared under the same sky. Hand over your life!"
The old man waved his hand, and demonic shadows surged across the sky. Layer upon layer, they blotted out the heavens, turning the world dim as if the end had come.
It turned out that when Supreme Elder Xu of the Hall of War released the Void Fire Jade to request reinforcements from the Immortal Pool, Saint Lady Hui Yue had volunteered to infiltrate the barbarian temple and assassinate their Great Emperors.
With her Moon Spirit Dream Descent divine skill, as long as she was within a certain range, she could kill her targets silently, letting barbarian Great Emperors die within their dreams.
Her methods were indeed profound and formidable. She had slain more than ten barbarian Great Emperors in succession, dealing a heavy blow to their morale. However, her actions soon drew the attention of the barbarian high command.
In the end, a barbarian Supreme Elder personally took action, leading ten Great Emperor level guards to surround and attack her. The battle lasted an entire day and night.
Even against such overwhelming force, Saint Lady Hui Yue fought her way out, killing six of the ten guards and leaving only four alive. However, she herself suffered severe injuries and heavy depletion.
That led to the current situation. The barbarian Supreme Elder, burning with rage, was leading the remaining four guards in a relentless pursuit of Saint Lady Hui Yue.
After all, more than twenty barbarian Great Emperors had already died at her hands, and they were not low-level ones. For the barbarian race, this was an enormous loss.
On the main battlefield, even with the support of the demon race alliance, signs of defeat had begun to appear.
If the northern demon tribes learned that the barbarians had lost so many high-tier Great Emperors, their alliance might begin to waver.
The demon race had never been a reliable ally. Once they sensed the barbarians weakening, they might be the first to turn against them.
After all, to them, humans of the Hall of War and humans of the barbarian race were no different. Both were prey, so why choose the harder target?
