The Animagus: From Hunter to Monster-Chapter 56: Beep! Beep! From a Friend
Survival was not his concern. He had inherited 99 more survival chances, his concern was ’How will I get myself treated after the raid?’
Not that he lacked the confidence for a successful raid. But that, the possibility of sustaining a severe injury was there. It was just inevitable at his current level.
"Gosh, gosh, gosh!" he lamented, hitting his bed as he rose from it and paced around for a bit. Looking unsatisfied, he made his movements towards the window.
’What should I do? I mean, what will I do?’
Nothing obviously. Things turned out like he expected... but not like how he had expected.
The reality of being a hunter only began to sink in. It wasn’t about the rewards, it was about the reality of life and death.
The logic of possibilities and realities. The logic of nature and decision. They were all sinking in but he didn’t want to think much.
He only tried to analyze the reality before him. The reality of being a hunter.
He stood in front of his window staring at the darkness outside. It has been long he thought things like that through, maybe because he had been a little bit busy.
This moment, he just wanted to understand something. After receiving the rewards from the system, a thought came to his mind.
Updat𝓮d from freewēbnoveℓ.com.
He had thrust himself into a world where he should act as both a hero and a predator. Not that he should, it was a demand. So, he must.
He remembered the past. His life in the orphanage. His life while still in school. And his life now. They all seemed the same, except the little differences in them.
Logically, he reasoned, every living being in their world were hunters. Except that there are those who are on the frontline, those who were more exposed as predators and hence, death. And that was the little difference between his previous lives and his current life.
Even though, this current life of his... his current life seemed to hold much benefits than the others, and equivalent risks as well.
He adjusted the curtain that was hung by the sides of the window, and opened the window glasses slightly, pushing his hands outside to feel the cool breeze.
"And that was how nature works…"
Possible realities always have and are equal to their levels of difficulty to attain. That’s just the case in this world he currently lives in. Those who were involved in petty businesses which required less risks were poorer in their society.
While the rich… the richest in town were mostly hunters. Maybe that’s how life works, and that’s how nature decides to pay back to the living. Payback in the sense that we get rewards or consequences that are equivalent and are according to the level of risks we are willing to take.
Here, standing by the window, looking outside was a young boy who was ready to take whatever risk it was for him to get to whatever he wanted and where he had wished.
’First, my resolve had been to get stronger. Later on, I wished to become richest and currently now I’m thrust into this reality, I wondered what the third resolve will be.’
That’s how personal lives seemed to be. In as much as life is the programme of a person’s language, in as much as events of life take place according to plans...
Not exactly according to plans, but the fact remains that whatever occurrence one faces results from their imposture in mind. Whether pessimistic or vice versa, it’s only possible because the mind, human thoughts control their actions.
Somehow, Buji was not in the mood to continue this analysis. He wanted to face what was facing him at the moment.
Before he made the decision to become a hunter, he knew there were a lot of risks that will be involved. But all his mind had cushioned then was towards the literal meaning of what being a hunter was.
But it was more than what he had thought. It carried the weight of decisions, the fragility of teamwork, and the regular question that haunts him at every step he wants to make—with your current status, are you certain to make it out of this dungeon?
But he had made the second attempt and it was successful, and it seems it will always be successful.
A thought snapped in his mind, ’Raid a Dormant dungeon by yourself’ and he muttered with less confidence. "Always successful…"
It’s been a while Buji analyzed concepts but then he didn’t know why he had to get involved in it this night. He pushed his window close, and drew the curtain down and made for his bed.
He should be thinking of the raid tomorrow and nothing more. He laid on his bed and decided to take a look at his stats.

He shoved the screen away looking satisfied with what he was seeing. At least, he felt like there was improvement lately, with his body getting refueled and energized. He should possibly get a feat in the solo raid the next day.
The system notification appeared again, but this time not showing his stats.
<Ding! Acquisition Items detected...!>
"Another acquisition item?" Buji looked confused.
The system had done great earlier by rewarding him handsomely but he didn’t expect to get any more rewards from it, not alone new items.
But that was good either, making it a possibility that he can be edges over a few others.
He tapped on the screen in front of him to reveal what it had.
<Two New Acquisition Item Detected!>
[Item 1: Magic Staff of Embellishment (Class 1)]
"What is that meant to mean?" Buji muttered. "The Embellishment I know..."
But the system cut him short. Beneath the notification that read the name of the magic staff he achieved, was a description.
Description: The Magic Staff ⚕️ of Embellishment is an exclusive staff that allows the Player to temporarily restrengthen his abilities. It simply and only adds to supplement the player and as such is limited in a period of its given time. The Player should also note that the functionality of the item depends on its class.
’Functionality?’
[Yes. Your current class determines the longevity of the staff’s mana lasting period, the amount of energy it can be able to extinguish on the Player, and all about its functional capability.]
"Hmm."
<Ding! Item 2 acquired...>
[The player will be unable to have access to this item until he completes the daily quest for the next day.]
[Ding! The Player "must" have access to this item 7 hours into the next day.]
[!... Worthy of note: The item is more like a Spin-to-get reward.]
[...item 2 awaiting unlock and access.]
"I don’t know if this is a bad omen... Or just a warning," Buji reclined to his pillow. "Why does it have to use the word ’Must’."
The system flickered, and disappeared. Buji only remained still on his bed not knowing what to do. The thought of first, the system’s warning still somehow, made him quiver.
The system was clear enough to let him know that he has only 7 hours into the next day to unlock the new item but he didn’t know how to.
"Wait..." He tried to recall what the system had said. ’The item 2 will only unlock after he completes the daily quest.’
"Oh, oh." It means he has less than seven hours to make sure he completes whatever the daily quest might be this time. Seven hours is more than enough to complete this system’s quests. Maybe the system is trying to make sure I do not miss the quest tomorrow so as to be pre-prepared for the solo raid.
’Solo raiding... I wonder.’
"But then, what was in my mind?" Buji tried to remember what he thought about. "Uhm... ’Level Up Hunter’."
"Yeah. I want to know how this Level Up stuff works, and how I was able to have attained Level 21 with killing only the dungeon boss and eliminating just five lives of the massive bats." He thought about how gallant his team mates had been in the battle, and the level they would have reached if they were manipulated by a system like he is.
’Even Kira. She is was surprisingly amazing. More than I could imagine.’
[Beep! Beep!]
He wanted to summon the system in order to study the book he wished for the moment, when his phone’s message alert sound distracted him.
"What again?"
He looked at the message notification drop-down and saw the highlight.
"From a friend..."
