The Amazing Strike Back: Mommy Wants To Revenge!-Chapter 459: Let’s Be Friends, Anna
Angela, under so many watchful eyes, mustered the courage to call Henry Willow.
Don’t ask why she chose to call him first—she simply didn’t have President Sterling’s phone number!
"His phone is off, he might be busy!"
Angela had no choice but to call Ethan, her expression carrying a hint of reluctance.
In her mind’s ranking, Ethan, the little assistant, was undoubtedly at the bottom.
No money, no power, Angela looked down on such men.
But now, she had no choice. Someone questioned her, and Angela had to pull out someone to prove she wasn’t lying.
There really were three men pursuing her!
And they were all fighting over her!
I guess Ethan’s luck isn’t bad, given such a good opportunity to shine, he’d better hurry over to save her.
Angela thought in her heart with such a posture, but she didn’t expect Ethan’s phone to also be unreachable.
"At this time, and no one answers the phone, is it such a coincidence?" Vivian Neal was lounging on the chair, boredly painting her nails.
Angela glared at her, "You all wait here, I’ll go out to call President Sterling!"
"Hold on!" Vivian stood up and stopped her, "Call here, who knows if you’ll go outside and just make things up?"
"I’m calling a private number, it needs confidentiality."
"Oh? President Sterling’s private number needs confidentiality? Then how about President Willow, I just happen to have his number stored on my phone, why not let me dial it?"
Vivian took out her phone and glanced sideways at Angela, "You just said you couldn’t reach President Willow, that it was off, right?"
But Vivian dialed Henry Willow’s number and got through.
She even put it on speakerphone, and indeed it was Henry Willow’s voice on the other end.
"Hello?"
"President Willow, I’m actress Vivian Neal! Do you remember me?"
"Of course, the beautiful lady with the devilish figure! What’s up? Need something?" Henry Willow’s tone indicated some familiarity with Vivian.
Actually, he was familiar with all beautiful women!
Vivian skipped the pleasantries and got straight to the point, "I have a question that I hope you can answer. Do you know Angela?"
"Angela... Qi? Doesn’t ring a bell."
"She’s also an artist in our company. She said you’re pursuing her and even gave her a ’Heart of the Ocean’ worth five million."
"Ha..."
Henry Willow’s awkward but polite smile was heard by everyone, making Angela’s heart sink further.
All the female artists in the company knew Henry Willow’s behavior; not a single beauty could escape his clutches, few hadn’t been flirted with.
Yet he claimed to have no impression of Angela!
Which meant, in his eyes, Angela didn’t even qualify as a beauty!
Though this was also true, Angela didn’t believe it and snatched Vivian’s phone, "President Willow, it’s me, Angela! You came to find me last night, how could you not remember me? Aren’t you and President Sterling alike, not wanting others to know about us? But I’m getting bullied now, and they all think I’m lying, you need to help me!"
"..."
Beep! Beep! Beep!
The line had already been disconnected!
Vivian took back the phone, "We all just heard President Willow’s voice, right? There are only two possibilities why you couldn’t reach him. Either you’re lying, and you never had his number, or President Willow has blocked you, so you’re still lying!"
"I’m not!"
"Then how do you prove it?"
...
"Anna, the dressing room downstairs is bustling!"
Mary came to report to Anna Thornton, vividly recounting the drama initiated by Vivian with Angela downstairs.
"Angela was left with no choice by Vivian and said she would bring out all the jewelry President Willow gave her as proof. Now everyone in the company is watching the spectacle, let’s go take a look too."
In the past, the rumors Angela made up were things Mary shared as jokes with Anna and Faye Duval.
They knew it was false, but seeing Angela get exposed was immensely satisfying!
Anna, having nothing better to do, joined Mary and Faye to go downstairs to catch the show.
Just in time to see Angela pull out the so-called ’Heart of the Ocean’ given by Henry Willow, only to have Vivian expose it as a mere fake, worth nothing.
Angela was shocked on the spot!
Her family was originally poor, but later prospered by changing their surname to Thornton and cozying up to the Thornton Family.
But it’s only considered modest wealth, she’d never seen such expensive jewelry, treasured it like a gem because it was from Henry Willow, never thinking it was fake.
How could it be fake?
With Angela’s brain, she wouldn’t even think to come up with such a scam.
But Anna understood with one glance!
Henry Willow didn’t fancy Angela, nor did he stoop to play tricks on women.
The reason for doing so was obvious. Even got Ethan involved...
"The Emperor’s new clothes are finally busted, Angela shouldn’t have the face to stay in the company anymore. How do you like what you see?" Vivian evaded others and a devastated Angela to speak privately with Anna.
"Did you do this to help me? Why?" Anna asked her.
"Just consider it returning a favor! I’ve already passed the audition and will be in the same production as you."
"Passing the audition means your own abilities were recognized, it has nothing to do with me." Anna emphasized.
"How do you know I was chosen for my ability and not because I slept with the casting assistant director?" Vivian retorted.
Anna: "..."
"Let’s be friends, Anna."
"Why?"
"You’re one of the few who believe I have ability."
"Ugh, as if I’d believe that!"
Vivian: "..."
Mary knew Anna had a nickname, Refute Thornton.
Vivian, after today’s famous battle, was also dubbed as Refute Neal.
Can two equally sharp-tongued women really be friends?
Moreover, Vivian seemed to purposely approach and please Anna.
As the manager of a currently popular actress, Mary couldn’t let her guard down.
After watching the spectacle and returning to the studio, Anna saw a message from Conrad Sterling and called back.
"Was the Angela thing your arrangement?" Anna asked Conrad Sterling.
"What thing?"
"Don’t play dumb with me, remember who said we’d be honest with each other? If you lie, we’ll be divorced in no time!"
Intimidated by her ’divorced in no time’ threat, Conrad Sterling confessed honestly: "Alright, it was me! Don’t worry about those rumors in the company, they’ll be resolved soon. And, if you encounter any trouble again, you must let me know, I’m your man!"
"This trivial matter didn’t bother me at all, there was no need to drag Henry Willow and Ethan into it."
"It’s necessary! Anna, to me, anything about you isn’t trivial!"
Conrad Sterling’s words were as overbearing and annoying as always.
Yet, why did Anna find a hint of sweetness amidst the annoyance?
About Angela, it was hardly difficult; her lies were simply paper-thin.
But when faced with shameless opposition, it could become troublesome.
The hassle Anna dreaded was silently handled by Conrad Sterling, saving her from rolling up her sleeves to deal with the mess herself.
Over the years, it seemed she hadn’t felt this relaxed in a while.
Man? Hmm, he was somewhat useful this time.
Anna suppressed the corners of her mouth from lifting, insisting on not praising him to prevent him from getting too cocky, and casually responded with a: "Hmph~"
Suddenly, a noise came from the phone, like someone had fallen.
"Conrad Sterling, what happened?"
"..."
Anna couldn’t hear Conrad Sterling’s response, but she heard the guards’ panicked voices: "Not good, there’s an assassin! President Sterling has been shot!"
