The Amazing Strike Back: Mommy Wants To Revenge!-Chapter 453: President Sterling Is Here
"Anna, I heard you’re thinking about bringing some new company members to the cast." Vivian Neal didn’t beat around the bush, directly stating her intention, "Can you take me along?"
Anna Thornton’s newly confirmed fantasy drama "Unrivaled" granted her three spots for recommending newcomers for auditions.
But, currently, only Julia Yates has been decided.
"Sure, just get ready. Go for the audition with Julia Yates next week!"
Vivian Neal didn’t expect Anna Thornton to agree so easily.
"Wait! I’m not a newcomer anymore! And you know I used to be..."
"What you used to be isn’t important; whether you can take a different path in the future depends entirely on you. I only make recommendations. Whether you and Julia Yates get selected is up to you both."
Anna Thornton initially didn’t even want to recommend newcomers anymore, because through this incident, she realized some young girls, despite having decent looks, have twisted minds.
It’s unfortunate, but Anna Thornton isn’t a teacher, nor is she their parent. She has no reason to help them fix their minds and reshape their worldview; bringing them to the cast would just be trouble.
Choosing Julia Yates for the audition was because Anna Thornton happened to have seen her previous works. Even though they were small web dramas and films, her acting was really good, worthy of serious performance even in bad productions.
Anna Thornton believes people like her deserve a chance.
As for Vivian Neal, there’s no particular reason.
Just her outfit today caught Anna Thornton’s eye.
What Anna Thornton didn’t know was how deeply her impression impacted Vivian Neal.
Later on, in order not to disappoint, Vivian Neal spared no effort to repay Anna with everything she could offer.
Anna Thornton had just walked out of the pantry when the two artists who had bad-mouthed her returned, bringing reinforcements.
"Anna, Sienna Mason said you just hit someone inside, is it true?"
The speaker was someone Anna Thornton knew, the director of Starlight Entertainment’s PR department, named Coco.
But Anna Thornton hadn’t expected Coco would choose to stand with others.
Even though Anna Thornton was secretly the boss, only Henry Willow knew this within the company.
Given her current popularity, why were so many people eager to make trouble for her?
It really puzzled Anna Thornton!
If Coco also believed Angela Thornton’s clumsy rumors, then it wasn’t surprising why Anna Thornton was constantly trashed online.
Starlight Entertainment’s PR department was downright useless!
"Director, they started it first, Anna didn’t bully anyone, I can testify!" Vivian Neal explained for Anna Thornton.
As soon as she spoke, she was sneered at by Sienna Mason: "You better not speak, who doesn’t know you used to act in adult films."
Hearing this, Faye Duval covered her mouth in surprise, not believing Sienna Mason’s words were true.
The senior sister she just had a good impression of, how could she...
But Vivian Neal didn’t shy away, instead openly admitting: "I earned money with my skills shooting adult films, unlike some who embezzle fan fundraising, insinuate fans to send luxury gifts, delete Weibo posts when found out by the company, and silence related personnel. At least I can answer for every word I’ve said, can you?"
"You..."
"Enough, stop arguing!" Coco stopped the verbal battle between Vivian Neal and Sienna Mason, bringing the focus back to Anna Thornton, "Anna, I heard Angela’s face allergy is very severe, and it’s related to you? Now that President Willow isn’t in the company, family matters between you relatives and sisters are best solved at home. It took me great effort today to persuade Angela to take a few days off and rest at home without saying nonsense outside, do you know because of you, our PR department colleagues worked overtime?"
"Hey, I don’t understand, is there anyone who thinks she’s too popular? Anna Thornton is one of our top-earning artists now, isn’t she? The PR department’s bonuses also come from a portion of her endorsement income, isn’t overtime justified?" Vivian Neal continued to argue.
Coco: "..."
"The biggest taboo in life is to eat from a bowl and then cuss behind it! Some people believe they joined the right side, only to be pulled out and used as a weapon, exposing their stupidity without realizing, careful you hold onto your rice bowl tightly." Vivian Neal rarely stirred trouble in the company.
She used to act in adult films, a fact other female artists avoided her for.
She was self-aware, didn’t care to socialize with people who ignored her.
Today she spoke out, partly to thank Anna Thornton for giving her an audition opportunity without hesitation.
Also, because these people were too dumb, dumb enough to make her want to comment.
However, her words were too harsh, Coco being a director was still reprimanding Anna Thornton, but for Vivian Neal it was direct sarcasm.
"Vivian Neal, Anna Thornton may earn money for our company, what about you? Ever since President Willow signed you into the company, you haven’t made a single production, refused the arranged variety shows, clocking in daily while idling away, forcing the company to handle your past adult film scandals, yet you remain content."
"President Willow’s contract with me doesn’t stipulate how many productions per year, nor mandates variety shows! If any of you have problems, go and talk directly to President Willow. Also, I never considered my past films as shady history. When I join the next cast and it hits big, you won’t need to work overtime for me then!"
"Pfft, who’ll cast you in anything?" Sienna Mason sneered, "Your body has been seen by men all over the world, now trying to transition to serious roles, let’s see who’s buying!"
"Then you better widen those fish-eye-lens you just got done, watch and see!"
Vivian Neal was simply the queen of verbal duels. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Mostly because she was uninhibited, her rebuttals flowed seamlessly.
Faye Duval listened nearby feeling refreshed, even secretly inclined to clap for her.
"Alright, no more bickering!" Coco realized she wasn’t gaining ground with Sienna Mason, called a halt, still steering the topic back to Anna Thornton, "Now even President Sterling is aware of Angela’s severe face allergy, I just received a call, he wants you to personally go apologize to Angela."
Anna Thornton raised one eyebrow in confusion: "What did you say? Are you sure Conrad Sterling personally called you, asking me to apologize to Angela Thornton?"
"Of course, President Sterling’s words aren’t false, are they? Anna, you’re indeed one of our company’s promising artists, but President Sterling truly is upset this time. I spoke highly of you to him, barely persuaded him. Now it’s best for you to visit Angela and apologize to resolve things."
Coco sounded convincing, even claiming she advocated for Anna Thornton to Conrad Sterling?
Little did she know how Anna Thornton and Vivian Neal viewed her like a fool.
"I have a question though, Conrad Sterling never gets involved with the entertainment company affairs. Why didn’t Henry Willow call you?" Anna Thornton asked her, chin resting.
"President Willow certainly called too, he and President Sterling share the same sentiment. You upset Angela, no wonder President Sterling is angry; personally called to inquire."
"Wait, I still don’t get it, what does me upsetting Angela Thornton have to do with Conrad Sterling?"
"Don’t pretend you don’t know, Angela is President Sterling’s girlfriend, who in the company isn’t aware? Plus, President Sterling came to the company just two days ago looking for Angela."
Sienna Mason couldn’t hold back and interjected: "But that day, President Sterling later left Angela behind and carried you away, who knows what seductive means you used. But give up, President Sterling will never like you."
Though Anna Thornton undoubtedly didn’t wish to make her relationship with Conrad Sterling public, she was astounded by these people’s thinking, having observed clues and yet perfectly skirting the correct answer, truly worrying.
Even Vivian Neal couldn’t stand it anymore, fearing prolonged exposure might affect her, preparing to leave.
Who knew when she turned, she spotted the elegant and imposing figure downstairs, instantly lifting her face with a look anticipating drama, reminding them: "President Sterling is here!"
