The Alpha's Omega Mate-Chapter 83: Resounding slap.

~Dahlia’s POV~

The silence that followed after I said those words was deafening. It enveloped us like a cloak— one that seemed to suffocate us both.

My wolf howled within me as if in pain, and I shrunk into myself when he took imposing steps forward, his looming frame towering over mine.

"Repeat what you just said, Dahlia." His voice was rough, nothing like the cold mask of indifference that he always seemed to carry around like a personality.

I took another step back away from him because for some reason, my body had begun trembling. My knees felt jello and my palms were suddenly clammy. Discreetly wiping the sweat off my hands, I looked up at him and whispered; "Let me marry Beta Orion. He seems to care about Amara and I. He’s a nice guy too and with him, I’ll be safe."

The more the words left my lips, the more his face contorted with rage and something else; something that if I didn’t know better, I would’ve called hurt. But I knew better, and I knew that he was only like this because I was about to take away his favourite toy— me.

He shook his head. "No."

I frowned. "Why?"

"Dahlia, I’ve not rejected you. And I do not intend to."

"But—"

"And if you try to reject me, I’ll refuse. I’ll reject your rejection." He snapped, interrupting me.

Seeing him like this— pleading, desperate— stirred something deep inside of me. It made my heart ache. Made me want to pull him close even though deep down, I knew he should be at arms length.

Tears pricked at the back of my eyes when I looked into his pleading green eyes. And then, just like a broken tape, my vision waned. My eyes went blurry, and for a minute, I could no longer see him. Instead, it felt like I could see Ms Jennifer all of a sudden.

I could see her sweat slicked skin and her beautiful blonde hair. I could see her blue eyes glazed with raw passion and her shuddering body quaking under the influence of mind wrecking pleasure.

All of a sudden, she was bouncing over him with her eyes closed and her lips parted. Her round breasts bounced with each movement and a piercing moan slipped through her lips with each stroke— with each time she took his entire length in.

"Dahlia?" I heard a voice call out to me. It sounded distant but close at the same time— pleading and soft. And it seemed to snap me out of my reverie

When my eyes met Alpha Zarek’s again, an ugly emotion curled right within my chest.

Hate.

It seems to consume me whole. Suffocating me. Pulling me into an abyss of despair.

While my mind screamed at me to hate him, to push him away, my heart had other thoughts. And these conflicting emotions made me uncomfortable. It made tears slip into my eyes and stream down my face. It made my body shake with anger and despair. It made me hate myself.

Despite the way my heart felt like it was being squeezed tight with each passing second, despite the way my body shuddered with emotions so strong, I felt I may be crushed under their weight, despite the way it hurt to see him look so lost... so pained, I forced myself to stand straight, and then I muttered;

"This was all a mistake, Alpha. Please let me go."

He stepped even closer until I could feel the warmth emanating from him, and until a weird sensation ran through my body, coming to settle—and to thrum— between my legs.

"Dahlia please.."

The way my name rolled off his tongue— oh goddess, it filled me with heat.

My eyes glazed with unadulterated pleasure and I forced myself to take a deep shaky breath in order to shake off his overpowering hold on me. It was impossible. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Alpha, I need to go. My daughter needs me." I croaked out despite the wanton thoughts swarming my head and despite the way I could now catch the smell of my musk wafting through the air.

My eyes widened when I smelled it for the first time and I couldn’t help but wonder if he could smell it too. One look at him— at his darkened eyes— made me realize that he could and in slow steps, I retreated.

"I would let you return to your daughter but I refuse to allow you to be with Orion. I refuse to allow you to be with anyone else for that matter. You’re my mate... and you’re mine, just as I am yours. None of us are allowed to be with anyone else."

I knew that his words were just what it was— mere words— and that all of these were just another lie, but I couldn’t help the way it made my heart flutter in my chest. I couldn’t help the way it made heat creep up my face, and I could do nothing when it made my pussy throb violently.

"Please stop."

"No." He drawled, his voice dark— pleading. "I know what you saw and I cannot make you unsee it... but I’ll make it up to you, I promise you, Dahlia. I’ll find out what happened that day and I’ll correct it."

As the words slipped through his lips, it took all I had not to roll my eyes at him, at his lies, at the way he said it like even he believed himself.

I shook my head. "But I do not want to correct it. I just want to be allowed to be with Beta Orion."

"Do you love him?"

The question threw me off guard. It was the last thing I had expected him to say so it had me stumbling back in shock. But I couldn’t respond to it. I couldn’t lie and say I loved Beta Orion, and I couldn’t tell the truth because that would mean agreeing to Alpha Zarek.

So I shook my head. "With all due respect, that’s none of your business, Alpha."

"You know it’s my business," he drawled, his eagle eyes fixated on me like pins to a magnet. "But you cannot answer it because you know the truth."

"What truth?"

"You know you can never love him. You know your heart can never beat for anyone else that isn’t me. You know you love me."

I frowned. Just then, I opened my mouth to speak, to refute his words or say something just as cutting, but before the words would even slip out of my mouth, Alpha Zarek took a step forward, he clasped his hands on my shoulders and slammed his lips on mine.

The shock of having his lips against mine had me frozen for a few seconds until it registered that he was kissing me— with the same lips he’d used to kiss Ms Jennifer.

Rage like no other crashed into me in waves. It blinded me, deafened me... and momentarily made me lose my senses.

In one swift move— caused by my rage, I pushed myself out of his hold and the rest was history. One minute, I was pushing at his chest with all my strength and the next, my hands were connecting with his face.

A loud crack sound resonated in the now quiet space, the silence between us deafening.

It took me a moment to realize what I’d done, and when I did, my jaw dropped. My hands trembled and my knees instantly hit the floor.

Because I realized that I’d just slapped the Alpha.

And now, his eyes were as dark as the midnight sky as he glared down at me.
