The Alpha's Omega Mate-Chapter 136: Chills.
~Dahlia’s POV~
"Oh, gods, what the hell?" I whispered as slowly, I walked over to the bed, my eyes widening even more than it already was with each step I took. And when I arrived by the side of the bed, my small gasp left my lips because damn! She’s beautiful.
Her face looked like something that had been plucked out of a fantasy novel, with her plush pink lips that looked slightly discoloured now, her long blonde lashes and her smooth creamy skin that looked creamier than panna cotta.
I stifled another gasp when I touched her hands: they were ice cold, and I frowned;
"Who is she?"
What is she doing here?
"Mommy, we should leave." Amara protested, but right now, I didn’t know whether she meant ’this room’ or ’the house entirely.’
I looked down at her, my gaze softening for a moment as I whispered; "Yeah, we would. But we need that intruder to leave first before we do." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Amara’s eyebrow quirked in questioning as she turned to me first before looking back at the closed door. And with a resigned sigh, she asked; "You mean Zareeq? Why?"
I froze. "No, that is not your Zareeq... that someone else."
"And you’re lying, mommy." She answered just as quickly, causing my mouth to snap shut in frustration.
There were times, times like this, that I despised her stubbornness— not like I could blame her; and more times when I didn’t understand what her strange deal with Alpha Zarek was.
Despite his ill treatment towards us and the sufferings we bore at his pack, she loved him, and as much as I hated to admit that, it was glaring.
And maybe he loved her too...
"Why are you lying, mommy?" Amara’s voice snapped me out of my daze, and this time, after deciding that I didn’t want to keep arguing with her in order not to draw too much attention to this room, I nodded defeated, glancing back at the unmoving girl on the bed as a shudder ran through my spine.
"You know what? You’re right!" I whisper-yelled to her, my patience wearing thin; "...but do me a favor please and quit talking. Only if you want to return to Lady Jennifer the bully, and everyone else that treated us badly."
Maybe that seemed to do the magic trick because then she stopped talking. She stopped moving too and for a second, I could even swear that she stopped breathing too until I saw her squeeze her tiny hands into fists by her sides.
Her hair suddenly began to glow in an ethereal way, the strands of ginger sparkling as if a flame had been ignited in it.
I frowned at the sight, hissing under my breath; "Amara...!" But she didn’t respond, she didn’t even turn to acknowledge me as she focused her attention instead on the shut door.
"If you open that door, I’ll willingly give you to them... Alone." I snapped, and at that, her squeezed fists loosened. She sighed, ignoring me but silently obeying me now.
In the growing silence, all I could suddenly think about was the pale girl on the bed. The girl whose face and hair screamed ethereal. The girl whose beauty seemed like the full moon in a dark dark night.
However, something about her didn’t feel right with me. Something about the way her eyes seemed closed in death but her cheeks looked flushed made my heart race.
I wondered who she was.
Why she was here, locked away as if like a secret.
And most of all, I wondered what her deal with Alpha Kai was. Turning to face her one more time, and like really take a look at her, a sudden chill coursed through my veins and goosebumps spread across my skin.
Something doesn’t feel right. Something in the air felt charged. Malicious eve—
I was suddenly snapped out of my daze when Amara’s voice suddenly rang out, and instantly, I blinked at her in confusion, not sure about what she’d said earlier.
"Huh?"
"I said I want to know who my father is. I need to find my daddy." She said softly, and as soon as I heard those words, I froze.
"You don’t mean that, do you?"
"I do." I answered, still not looking at me. "You say Zareeq is not my daddy. Beta Orion isn’t my daddy. So I want to know who my daddy is."
My heart lurched as her words hit my chest like a million blades striking its target, and with a pained cry, I slipped to the floor beside the bed, shaking violently as I stared at the back of my unmoving daughter.
She still didn’t turn around.
Oh goddess, nonono!

~Zarek’s POV~
The first thing I noticed as soon as I stepped into the large daunting building that was Alpha Kai’s overly expensive looking home, was the unusually tantalizing scent hanging in the air like cakes and sweets on Christmas Eve.
But this wasn’t cake or sweet. This was a scent I was accustomed to, a scent that made my wolf, once hurdled in a corner, stretch in anticipation.
My eyes went wild when I stepped into the dining area— the only part of the house where the scent was the strongest— and I gulped, my body shaking with something that was far from rage. Something that was far from annoyance.
Desire.
That is strange.
"Alpha Zarek, it’s a pleasure to meet you. But you never told me you’d be visiting today." Alpha Kai greeted me with a smile as he walked slowly over to me like a predator staking its prey.
Fine, this was his pack, his property, his house; But I hated his stance. I hated that he tried to make me feel small, and I hated that he was currently baring his teeth at me like I was an enemy. Like I had interrupted something.
And oh yes, I had. There were three half filled plates on his table!
Despite the war raging in my head, and the way my wolf felt insulted by his attitude, I still managed a curtsy. I smiled "Well, I remember sending a message some days ago informing you of this visit; you probably never saw it."
At that, Alpha Kai stopped. His eyes glared into mine for a few seconds, and as if realization suddenly dawned on him, he nodded. "Oh shit."
"From your reaction, I take it that you forgot all about it."
"I indeed forgot." He answered. Then his lips began to move. I swear I saw it move, I swear I saw him gesticulating but I couldn’t hear the words he said because my brain was too foggy. Because my heart wouldn’t stop beating fast against my chest.
There was something unnaturally sweet in the air, something that if I didn’t know any better, I would’ve thought it was Dahli—
Or wait, was it truly her?
Taking a deep breath, I stumbled away from him, inhaling deeply as her scent filled my lungs. It’s definitely Dahlia!
"Zarek?!" Alpha Kai snapped at me, but I was too lost to pay any attention. Too stricken by whatever this was to listen to him.
I charged towards him, grabbing the collars of his vest in my hands as I snarled; "Was Dahlia here?"
He frowned at me, a look of confusion crossing his face. "Who the fuck is Dahlia?"
But despite his obvious confusion, and the fact that something at the back of my skull kept hammering at me that I was probably making a mistake, I didn’t stop taking in lungfuls of air. I didn’t quit accepting the possibility that she may be here.
I didn’t believe him.
I slowly let go of his vest, tapped it down gently and whispered; "I’m sorry."
"For what?" Alpha Kai asked, his eyebrows cocked.
"For this." I muttered, and with that, began to march down the first corridor I could find... and surprisingly, her scent grew stronger which each step I took.
I gulped down air greedily like a starving man... desperate... wanting more; and I didn’t stop until I arrived at the front of a very ancient door.
And then a sudden strange chill seeped into my bones.
