Chapter 79: Without his consent

Gregor paced in the balcony of his room as he heard the wolves howl in the far distance. He looked up at the night sky at the hair crescent moon. "I don’t want to marry Aria. Everything will ruin if she enters my life. I need a mate. Please... Help me find her," he said, feeling conflicted.

As the gentle breeze blew, his silver hair swept with it, revealing his full forehead. A sigh escaped his mouth as he rested his hands on the balustrade. "Maybe I’ll find one in tomorrow’s ball. I just pray that Aria doesn’t ask her father to set us up. I’ll be trapped if that happens," he muttered.

Gregor stayed on the balcony for a while before returning to his chamber. His eyes grew slightly big seeing his father there.

"Father, how long have you been waiting for me? Why didn’t you call for me?" Gregor asked.

"I felt you needed some alone time, son," Alpha Jasper said, gesturing to him to take a seat.

Gregor quietly sat on the chair across from his father, already expecting what he had to say.

"You didn’t come for dinner. Is everything fine? Are you stressed because the Alpha King’s daughter has shown interest in you?" Alpha Jasper asked, trying to understand his son.

Gregor nodded his head. "Father, Aria isn’t the woman with whom I can live happily. I’ve seen how she has bullied Zenna. I have seen how she treats the people below her. She is just possessive of me for some reason. If the Alpha King orders for this marriage, then what will I do?" He shared his prime worry with his father.

"I won’t let you get married against your wish. I know what you are scared of, but the Alpha King will not force you for it," Alpha Jasper assured his son.

Gregor confusedly glanced at him. "How can you be so sure, Father?" he questioned.

"In our pack, forced marriages don’t survive. It’s a curse that was left by a witch’s daughter on us, who was forced to marry the Alpha of the pack in the past. The legend has recorded this event from hundreds of years ago. The Alpha King will not force you. Just try finding the woman of your liking," Alpha Jasper advised him.

Gregor felt as if a large burden was lifted from his shoulders finally. "Thank you, Father, for understanding me," he expressed his gratitude while feeling fortunate to have such a father.

Alpha Jasper smiled as he leaned back on the chair more comfortably. "I also know what Zenna underwent. Keep your distance from her for some time. If Princess Aria is possessive of you, then she might use Zenna against you. Everyone knows about your friendship with her," he opined.

"Yes, Father," Gregor replied. "I also want to keep Zenna away from this matter."

"Hmm. Have your dinner before sleeping. I’ll send the dinner through a servant," Alpha Jasper said as he concluded their conversation. He stood up from the chair and in respect, Gregor, too, left his seat. After his father walked away, he settled back on the chair.

"I hope the Alpha King doesn’t listen to Aria," he murmured.

As Phillipe retired for the night, a servant informed him about Aria’s sudden visit.

"At this hour what does she want?" Phillipe murmured. "Bring her in," he said while remaining seated on the bed, his head resting against the headboard.

Aria finally walked inside and kept her head low.

"What do you want at this hour, Princess Aria?" asked Phillipe.

"Father, I like Gregor Tarquin. Can we possibly get engaged in tomorrow’s annual ball?" Aria inquired.

"I need to ask Gregor about it first," Phillipe said.

"What does Father mean? I thought his order is supreme that none can deny it," Aria stated.

"It is supreme, but the Silver Moon Pack wolves aren’t forced into marriages. Their agreement is necessary when it comes to marriage. Moreover, Alpha Jasper cleared to me earlier that his son needs some time. You can leave. I am sleepy," Phillipe concluded their conversation.

However, Aria was far from being satisfied with her father’s response. "I’m not leaving, Father. You ordered Zenna’s marriage with Radulf and they got married right away. I want to marry Gregor. That’s it," she said stubbornly.

Phillipe furrowed his brows together. "You can’t marry him without his consent. Let me talk to him first. And what’s this attitude you are throwing in front of the Alpha King at this hour. Leave, right away." He yelled at his daughter, finding it bothersome how she couldn’t understand a simple thing.

Aria’s eyes filled with tears. But she didn’t budge from her place. "Father, did you ever love me? Whenever I asked you something, you’ve always refused it, saying it’s for my good."

Phillipe sighed as he brought his hand to his head. "Princess Aria, you are dear to me. A curse goes in the Silver Moon Pack. Those who are forcefully married are destined to go apart after a while. That’s why I need to get Gregor’s consent first. I want you to stay happy after the marriage. You should go. It’s already late at night," he explained to his daughter in a more polite way.

Aria nodded her head. "Forgive me for disturbing Father like this. I’ll go now. Have a good night, Father." She bowed her head and left her father’s sight.

"She is as stubborn as Loretta," Phillipe mumbled and lay on the bed before pulling the duvet.

Arriving at her chamber, she slumped to the recliner and curled her fingers into fists. "Gregor will never give his consent for this marriage. But I want him now whether he lied about having a mate or whether he truly has a mate. It will be much easier to control Zenna when I’ll be the wife of her childhood friend. It will be fun to crush her spirit daily and watch her in pain," she muttered with an evil grin.
