The Alpha's Forsaken Feisty Mate-Chapter 75: Life you led
Radulf stood in the balcony of his bedchamber and looked at the vast stretch of the estate. "I asked her to live with me but how will I resist myself." He held his head with one hand while the other remained on the balustrade. "Well, I am a dominant alpha. I can have good control of myself if I want," he muttered the other second.
Radulf closed his eyes, letting Zenna’s scent wrap his mind and smiled as he enjoyed it.
"Alpha, I’m sure I’m not disturbing you at this hour," Savio’s voice reached his ears, who was at the door.
Radulf, without turning to him, answered, "What did you want to say to me earlier?"
"Tomorrow is the annual ball. The new invitation has come," Savio replied, holding the card in his hand.
"This early?" Radulf mused and turned to look at Savio, who handed the card to him.
"I hope Alpha Radulf enjoys his very first ball with his mate tomorrow. I saw you kissing Zenna quite passionately. It seems your walls of resistance are already crumbling around your mate," Savio stated with a teasing smirk.
"It was to find out if her wolf really exists," Radulf replied, lowering his hand which held the card.
"Don’t lie, Radulf," Savio said with a smile. "Why is it hard for you to admit that you do feel something for Zenna?"
"I don’t feel anything for her. My wolf does," Radulf mumbled, averting his gaze from his loyal beta.
"Are you serious? Your wolf and you are the same," Savio stated. "It’s just your wolf has already softened after finding the mate. While you are hellbent on making not only your life tough, but your mate’s too."
Radulf leaned against the balustrade. "Let’s not talk about it anymore. It irritates me for some reason," he said.
"As the Alpha wishes," Savio said.
"I need to find out the witch who gave the wrong testimony that day. She was left unpunished," Radulf affirmed, his tone turning into a menace.
"It’s going to be difficult for sure," Savio replied.
"I think I need to visit the witch’s town soon. Perhaps I can find someone who can help me out," Radulf remarked. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Before that you need to attend some important meetings of not only our pack, but also with the other packs," Savio reminded him. "The last meeting with the pack elders didn’t go well," I heard.
"They were spatting nonsense. I reprimanded them not to look into my affairs," Radulf said, his jaw clenching slightly as he recalled that conversation.
"They are pack elders. You need to be polite with them. Your Father used to see them in high regards. Keep your anger in check," Savio advised him.
"They were saying that I should consider taking another Luna because Zenna is wolf-less omega and the children we bear may not be strong," Radulf confided in him. "It angered me. I don’t even look for the future now. I mean... I’ve gotten so many enemies that bringing a life in this world will only endanger the child’s life. I don’t love anymore. You have witnessed too the state I was in. Do you think love will save me? It’s difficult to see things the way I used to see them before," he explained.
Savio understood the pain Radulf had kept inside him. "What happened to your parents was unfortunate and unjust. However, you have a long life ahead. You need to do a lot of things. For your own sake start living it. Nina is still here. And her presence still bothers me. She can bring a crack in your relationship with Zenna. Don’t you think?" he furrowed his brows together, trying to understand what was going on in Radulf’s head.
"Nina’s father is a clever man. However, his daughter is his weakness. I don’t trust anyone around me fully except for a few. Don’t worry about it. This marriage won’t break. Zenna will stay with me until her last breath," Radulf said, turning serious.
"I get that. But Radulf, the royal family, used Nina to destroy your marriage. Have you forgotten the night of the rut? You didn’t even punish Nina. Why?" Savio asked.
"Because Nina got an offer to stay in the palace with the royal family. I couldn’t let that happen. Philippe is already hard to handle while his queen is more vicious than him. Savio, if you were in my position, you would have kept Nina by your side." Radulf revealed his real intention to keep Nina in the estate.
Savio’s expressions softened after learning all of that. "Forgive me for misunderstanding you," he whispered.
"It’s alright. Don’t share it with Zenna. I know you share things with her. I don’t like it," Radulf said with a glare.
"Why? She should know what kind of man you are, what kind of life you led and what made you so rough," Savio pronounced.
"Savio, I appreciate that you think a lot about me. But there are certain things in my life of which I want to find the answer myself. It’s not as simple as you think," Radulf said, heaving a sigh.
"Forgive me, Radulf. I’ll give you the space you want. It’s just I don’t want you to suffer by keeping all your pain inside your heart. I want you to live a good life. That’s all I want," Savio asserted.
"I know." Radulf inhaled deeply. "You should retire for the night now. Get some rest. You keep working all day," he said.
Savio smiled and bowed at him before leaving.
Radulf looked at the invitation card in his hand. "The first ball with Zenna. I wonder if she even knows how to dance," he murmured and went outside to check on Zenna.
To his surprise, she was coming to him only and the two encountered each other right outside the bedchamber.
"Your brother has extended an invitation. I suppose you know how to dance," Radulf said. "If not, then you can tell me beforehand."
"I know it," Zenna answered. "I have something important to show you," she said.
"Hmm? What is it?" He raised his eyebrow.
"Follow me." Zenna turned on her heels and walked ahead.
