The Alpha's Forsaken Feisty Mate-Chapter 152: Wish to be alone
"Your Majesty, I learned that Radulf and Zenna are in Ayspen," Commander Alfred informed Phillipe, who was sipping a special tea in the morning.
"Hmm. Did you find out anything related to the incident of those hanging heads on my balcony?" Phillipe asked as he rested the cup on the saucer.
"I’m afraid, Your Majesty, there is no witness to that incident. The warrior wolves and I tried my best to find any lead. The bar they had gone to was so packed that night that none knew if those three were even there or not," Alfred explained to him.
Phillipe furrowed his brows together. "Whoever this wolf was, he tried to show me his strength."
"Your Majesty, I think Radulf was behind that attack," Tristan asserted, who was the newly appointed commander in the army.
"Why do you think so?" Phillipe was curious to know.
"Because Zenna was punished in the day. Radulf was the one who threatened the wolves here. The hunter who whipped Zenna was also related to the incident. I think Radulf should be arrested, Your Majesty," Tristan pronounced.
"Bring the evidence," Phillipe said.
"Your Majesty, we lack that. But I am sure that it’s Radulf. Once he undergoes the investigation, the truth will be in front of you," Tristan stated with a confident tone.
"And what if the truth doesn’t come out? Will you answer the numerous packs who support Radulf? His loyalty has no bounds. I have witnessed it myself. He could have left that war and this kingdom, but he never did that," Phillipe stated.
"Your Majesty, but that doesn’t mean that Radulf never wanted revenge for what happened to his parents?" Tristan remarked.
"Tristan, you are crossing the line. That matter has nothing to do with Radulf," Alfred intervened.
"I agree with that. If you bring me the evidence, Tristan, I’ll make sure to punish Radulf. But if you can’t, then you don’t have to speak about it," Phillipe commanded.
Tristan bowed his head. "I understand, Your Majesty."
"Alfred, summon the Alphas of all the packs for the council tomorrow," Phillipe instructed.
"Yes, Your Majesty."
The two commanders bowed to the Alpha King and left the private chamber.
Tristan stopped in the corridor while Alfred kept walking. "Commander Alfred, why did you not pressure the Alpha King to send a summon to Radulf? He is clearly the culprit. He was in a war for four years, and he knows how to vanish such evidence. The Alpha King’s life may come in danger if we don’t stop Radulf from planning something heinous," he affirmed.
Alfred turned to look at Tristan and scanned his eyes around, making sure no one was there.
"I appreciate your dedication, Tristan. However, Radulf’s alibi was strong. He never left his mansion that night. I investigated the incident myself. Maybe there are more powerful wolves of whom we are unaware. Also, if it was Radulf, then another attack should have happened again. More warrior wolves should have lost their lives. But it didn’t happen," Alfred opined, trying to show him the facts related to the case.
"I get that. However, there’s a strong possibility that Radulf might have stopped doing so not to get into suspicion. We can’t trust a traitor’s son, Commander Alfred," Tristan remarked.
A muscle in Alfred’s jaw twitched. However, he remained composed even in that situation.
"Why are you after Radulf?" Alfred then asked. "Your words make me think that you have a personal grudge against him."
"Forgive me if I sounded that way. I don’t carry any grudge against Radulf. I am only concerned about the Alpha King’s safety," Tristan stated.
"That’s good," Alfred said. "I have to carry out the Alpha King’s command. I will see you later, Tristan." He left his sight, leaving Tristan in the corridor alone.
"The question is why you seem to be protective of Radulf. Why does it feel like you know the truth, Alfred?" he murmured and furrowed his brows together.

"Leon, is everything going well between you and Nina?" Loretta asked as she finished her tea.
"Yes?" Leon wondered if Nina had already told their mother.
"I understand we rushed this proposal this time. However, you need to become stronger by marrying a woman like Nina," Loretta stated.
"Yes, Mother." Leon lowered his eyes, not wanting to argue about that.
"Why do I feel you are less enthusiastic about the marriage and the crown?" Loretta’s question startled Leon. "You seem to have no interest in the crown. Why is that? Is it because of your father?" She waited for him to respond, but Leon remained quiet.
"Leon, I will do everything to give the throne to you," Loretta told him. "So, make sure your relationship with Nina goes well. Once you become the Alpha King, you’ll rule these vast lands of Nalveri," she pronounced, envisioning the future for him.
"Mother, why did you bring me to the palace? To become a minion for you or Father?" Leon finally asked.
Loretta was shocked to hear his words. "Son, how can you say that?"
"Forgive me, but I feel suffocated. Father never saw me as his son. This thought eats me every day and night. I told you earlier too, I am merely a replacement for him," Leon asserted. He then rose to his feet and bowed to his mother.
"I wish to be alone. Thank you for trying to know my thoughts, Mother," Leon said and walked out of the Queen’s sight.
As he reached the corridor of his manor, he saw Nina with a tiny pot in her hands.
"Let’s go out, Nina," Leon said. He didn’t know why he said that, but he wanted to leave this palace for a short period. He wanted to breathe in the same air as the others and feel freedom, even if only for a short time.
Going by himself wasn’t an option, so taking Nina with him would make the others see it as a formal date. At least, he would enjoy being Leon for some time.
