The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 208: Seeking Help ()

"Then, what is it that Your Grace requires our assistance with?" Nile asked.

Askel was quiet for a moment before he spoke.

"I do not know how to mince my words, I never learnt that. I speak as it comes to me or not at all so I will just do so even now." Askel said.

It was strange how Askel who was always so cold and confident looked a bit nervous in this situation.

"I love Zariah... My heart has been hers since the instant our gazes intertwined, and my love for her will endure until my final breath escapes me..."

"No, even beyond that fleeting moment, my love for her will transcend into the realms of the afterlife, wherever destiny may guide us. Should we fade into oblivion, my love for her will linger... as surely as the eternal dance of life and death persists." Askel began.

Nile and Allen exchanged a look once again, both taken aback by how direct Askel was.

"I... see..." Nile replied uncertainly, though his lips twitched in barely concealed amusement.

"Do not laugh." Askel grumbled beneath his breath.

"I would not think of it." Nile replied.

Allen sniggered from where he stood, quickly clearing his throat to conceal it.

Askel passed Allen a withering glare before he carried on with what he had to say.

"What I am trying to say is, I need your assistance...so Zariah and I can get past this phase. And I understand that you will never go against Zariah’s wishes, I would not ask that of you." Askel said.

"Zariah is naturally at liberty to make her own choice of a mate and we will never intervene in this..." Allen began, 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"However, you can tell us what exactly it is you want us to do." Nile completed the statement.

Askel nodded in understanding, he did know the Crimson wolves would not go out of their way to support him over Caedmon, but at least they were willing to hear him out.

"The month is almost up and I do not doubt what Zariah and I have will persevere, but I feel I need to make my thoughts known to her, to let her know I cannot afford to lose her...lay it all out... before she makes a decision." Askel said.

"I understand that. Everything has happened so suddenly, you have both been caught off guard and some conversations definitely need to be had." Nile said, nodding slightly.

"I want to speak to Zariah... alone, in a place far away from Caedmon’s influence. There is something I would like to show her, but Zariah will not see me... she has been intent on avoiding me since we last met." Askel explained to the crimson wolves.

"And you want us to bring her to you?" Nile asked.

"Without saying anything about me. If I am mentioned, she would run for the hills. I know Zari is still in recovery, I will keep her safe... you have my word." Askel assured.

Nile and Allen exchanged a look once again. Askel could tell both Crimson wolves were communicating through their mind link and he waited patiently for a response.

It took only a moment before Allen nodded.

"Very well, naturally we will support Zariah’s decision, but she is yet to make a decision so... I believe we might be able to help." Allen conceded.

"Zari..." Allen called for the dozenth time.

Zariah glanced up from the book she was reading, and a frown settled on her face.

"So what is it exactly, Allen? I am in no mood to be out and about. Besides, just yesterday, you kept reminding me that there have been multiple rogue sightings and signs of retaliation and so to stay indoors. How come you want me out now?" Zariah asked with a raised brow.

"It has been five days since the attack. You are healing just fine and you will not be out alone. You have cooped yourself in here for too long and I want you to come out with me, now that I have some free time with all the tasks I’m saddled with."

"I have been performing Alpha duties against my will for the past week, don’t you think you owe me that much?" Allen accused.

Zariah rolled her eyes at Allen’s accusations.

"If you were so busy, you would not have the free time to pester me in this manner." Zariah pointed out.

"Zari... I am not going to take no for an answer." Allen said directly.

Zariah sighed, it was really unusual for Allen to be so insistent, he was usually very aloof.

"Are you doing this because you know Caedmon is coming around today and you do not want me to be here when he comes?" Zariah asked suspiciously.

Allen’s expression turned ugly at the mention of Caedmon and Zariah sighed.

"Fine. I will go with you and not see him today also. You know this will only extend the month agreement we have, you all have found every way to turn him away these five days." Zariah reminded Allen.

"He let you get hurt. That is on him, why would I want to have him anywhere around you?" Allen asked Zariah like he truly did not understand why Caedmon still even existed.

"Because it is not up to you, Allen. I will go with you today, I do need a walk myself...but afterwards, you will all have to put an end to this and let Caedmon be. I hear he killed the rogues that attacked me." Zariah said to Allen.

"Should have done away with himself while he was at it." Allen grumbled.

Zariah shook her head in disbelief, she had never seen her subordinates act the way they did to anyone like they did to Caedmon.

Zariah guessed she should be grateful that they had such excellent instincts, to be so repulsed by him in both lifetimes before he could even show his true colours.

"My dear Allen, whatever has become of you?" Zariah asked in mock horror, laughing quietly when Allen scoffed.

"Let me change, I will be with you in a moment." Zariah said as she headed into the washroom.
